Is Akiyama the only legitimate genius MC in manga...

Is Akiyama the only legitimate genius MC in manga, since a mangaka cant write a character smarter than they are they usually just dumb everyone else down so that the MC looks like a genius by comparison, Lelouch and Light being the most well known example.

No. Read more manga.

happen to know any manga that have intelligent MCs?

Master Keaton

He's just a Gary Stu.

I'd say he's up there, but there are other examples, even entry level ones like Kaiji, Akagi or Zero.

I'd argue against Kaiji, he mostly wins through exploiting overconfident opponents and being able to make balls of steel insane bets. He never struck me as particularly smart à la Akagi.

negro please, think before spouting shit

Master Keaton has been around much before your meme buzzwords

and he isn't a super genius or anything, just a normal insurance investigator who finds himself in action situations

Near

He had a pretty solid plan for the Bog. He sometimes goes full retard but he still has pretty insane intuition, perceptiveness and adaptability when the time comes. Even more in part 3.

>vegapunk
>face

is that new? since we did we have a sketch of his face?

>Dr Akagi near genius
>Asuka super genius
>Gendo not on the list
>Kaoru not even mentioned despite his near infinite knowledge

into the trash it goes

Half those people are plot hax tier.

What did Gendo do except make a straight forward plan to use [device] for his own sake?

Lots of bullshit in there. Johan shouldn't be in super genius, he mostly maxxed his charisma. Light should be lower and Kudo higher.

>Dr Akagi
Just a good programmer, her mother's the one who created MAGI
>Asuka
Graduated at 12
>Gendo
Just a illuminati with a lot of power

Successfully manipulating SEELE and the UN to achieve his aims without ending up like Kaji is a pretty genius thing for me

>lelouch is plothax but conan isn't

lel

Him and SEELE had the same objective
Conan isn't a shit tactician who win through stupid bullshit

you are either trolling or just plain retarded, I don't know which

The term Mary Sue has been around longer than Master Keaton, and describing a character as 'not a super genius' isn't really a good way to prove they're a genius character.

>Dr Gero
>Bulma

what did he do except creating the androids? what did she do except some capsule corp gadget bullshit?

placing them with in the same tier as Yuki who has access to ALL of the world's knowledge is beyond stupid

>Mary Sue has been around longer

yes because Mary Sue is a name you dumbass negro child

Master Keaton is genius of the ordinary variety, but he isn't a all-knowing super genius; is what I was saying

...

The TERM Mary Sue you blind old fuck. Although that still has nothing to do with anything, a character can obviously still be described by a term that didn't exist when they were created. So what are you even trying to say?

if that's the only thing they did, either move them down some tiers or put Qiqi on the same tier as them.

Akagi should be around the same tier as Washizu who's not even on the list.

...

Bulma also invented a time machine and a proper spaceship

I've honestly tried reading this about 6 times, and always drop it because of how infuriatingly idiotic most of the characters are. Does it ever get better? Is it worth putting up with the fist few volumes?

>since a mangaka cant write a character smarter than they are

How about you check the his other manga then?

people are stupid

The difference is that in some manga like Akagi or One Outs, the authors explain in detail the genius and strategies behind their plans, compared to most of the other characters on the list which are just written as being 'genius'. I lack the right words to explain properly but I'm sure my message gets across.

So? How do you expect a mangaka to explain how to create a time traveling machine

I dropped it because it has too many games that go from high to low too easily. I'd recommend checking out One Outs instead, more engaging.

that does not really disprove my point, the mangaka clearly knows a lot about psychology and game theory.

I don't, but that's what I'm saying I find much more impressive when the writer can pit the reader's intelligence against his own or his characters as opposed to a character that can create fucking time machines and shit and we just have to accept it.

what theory? I'm not trying to disprove shit, I'm telling you to read the dude's other manga because Akiyama isn't his smartest character.

Lelouch was just good at chess and geology tbqh

When i legitimate genius i mean by real world standards.

Bulma is to regular genius what Goku is to real world MMA fighter.

I found Akiyama much smarter than Tokuchi, whose tactics are impossible to play in official tournaments btw

I have read one outs bro, the author is clearly smarter than both Akiyama and Toukichi since everything they do is at the authors behest.

Yeah, I get it. It's unfair with characters like Bulma, but sometimes the artist shows you what was going on and you still don't get it. You have to double-check and you still take some time to digest it if you're not smart.
For instance, the Hisoka vs Chrollo fight.

Hisoka vs Chrollo is not that hard to understand the issue is MS terrible translations

I don't know, I felt like Akiyama struggled several times throughout the manga while Tokuchi breezed through everything from day one. One could argue Akiyama had tougher opponents but it's hard to say, especially considering they had a completely different playing field. I still felt like Tokuchi was superior, not only in smarts but in his attitude, Akiyama was easily swayed by the annoying MC girl and her morals, Tokuchi wouldn't have given a fuck.

???????

I still don't understand that fight.

Well I'm not claiming it was impossible, but it was pretty complex and definitely showcased the characters' intelligence, given that they were processing it in the middle of a fight.

Who can calculate faster; Shiro or John von Neumann?

> One could argue akiyama had tougher opponents

pretty much, akiyama had yokoya and harimoto 2 people who could match him mentally, Toukichi breezed through his manga since he was never up against any one who was good at anything besides swinging bats and throwing balls, none of them could hold a candle to him in actual gambling skills, like prediction baits or anti tiliting.

Not him, and I agree. It's so satisfying when the author does blow the reader/watcher's expectations.

yea, I found liar game and one outs to be such enjoyable reads because i would think "no way he can get outa this one" and he would, without an ass pull.

and on the rare occasions where i was able to guess what the MC was planning it made me feel smart.

>Qiqi
But it's chink shit. Very good chink shit but still chink shit.
