At the very least it should have been the end of DB. I hate the piccolo jr saga. It feels shoehorned and JR is nowhere near as intimidating as King.

I didn't even realize that Jr was supposed to be as strong as King Piccolo until they outright said it

I didn't even like King Piccolo all that much. Was the start of beamspam and drama.

Dragonball sucks and you're all just riding nostalgia.

This

Rewatch it its trash

>watch it
Already found the problem

If Vegeta was so tough why did he wear armor?

fashion

I watched it recently and thought it was decent. I only remembered the one episode from when I was a kid, I mostly watched DBZ.

It's not like the episode doesn't exist.
If you wanted it to end there then stop watching or pretend the rest doesn't exist.
Holy shit

the only thing I'd miss after King Piccolo is Frieza and the Ginyu Force

It was stretchy

That would've been fine, but the end of the 23rd Budokai Tenka'ichi would've been a better time to stop honestly.

I know comfy is a meme word but DB is the definition of comfy. It's not all great sure but it's so quirky and crazy I'm not sure how anyone could hate it unless they go into it with a negative mindset.

Why is piccolo so based?

The ending original dragon ball is way better then the ending to dragon ball z, its not even funny I was fucking pissed off at the end of z

Dragonball isn't your life user, there are still good things to come from it.

Remember when Sup Forums didn't like blogging here?

congrats on the autism

Well, it wouldn't have been the worst.
Personally, in spite of all the filler screaming I'd have ended it at frieza.
The story concluded gokus origin and wrapped up the super sayan legend 10/10.
A brief bit of adult gohan carrying on his dads legacy/training or teaching a dojo during or after the credits would have made it 11/10.

Reminder that Dragonball fucking blew, and that DBZ was a massive improvement over it.

Don't be a retard.
People just prefer the idea of a series ending on a high note instead of going on in a depressingly shit state. Pic related.

>muh popularity
Nope, take the nostalgia goggles off, even the normies who watch DBZ abridged know that the writing was already turning to hot garbage in Z. Hell, a chunk of the humor from that comes from real things in DBZ.

The Buu saga was great and GT was a nice fanservice.
FUcking fite me.

Goku does this duck-> gut punch thing pretty often.

The saiyan arc was pretty cool tho.

I watched DB all the way and now I'm watching DBZ abridged as a replacement for DBZ. Going to move on to Super next.
feels good man

The issue with the saiyan arc was it introduced rampant powercreep. It was already kinda an issue at the end of DB, but not this bad. All the characters that were with us the entirety of DB became useless.

I know Yamcha is a meme and everything, but he was a serious and enjoyable character for the entirety of DB. I'm sure he had fans. And he just jobs to literally nothing, because we already knew saibamen sucked. He was killed off for zero narrative purpose. Then Tien and Chaozu got to splatter themselves on the windshield of Nappa, who's only purpose is to be scary and then immediately job, also.

Seriously what was the point of all those characters, at this point?

Tien had his moment in the Cell saga.
I think the power creep is fine to a degree.
It was one of the first manga that did it, it was basically a feature.
Even back in DB power creep was rampant (Roshi's shell and the weights).

Well if it works why stop using it? You only stop using it if the opponent figures it out and I do mean that opponent cause chances are the next person you fight won't know about and if they do, stop using it immediately. Not even for a mix up down the line in that case.

I read the manga and it was pretty fun.
Maybe its because of Toriyama's amazing and clean art. I especially like Dragon Ball's approach to art, its alot more goody and creative.

Sure, it's definitely part of the appeal. But it left a bad taste in my mouth watching a bunch of characters I grew to enjoy become straight up irrelevant instantly.

literally no one draws fantastical martial arts fights better than Toriyagod.

I agree. Even if the plot is very shallow and simple, his drawings and fight scenes are such a joy to watch.
I wouldn't mind if they were fighting over who gets the spaghetti Bulma served first, he makes such delicious fight scenes to see.

can't disagree with those trips

ok

Well if you remember it was because of Yamcha chasing tail that he lost track of his training.
Krillin got shafted but he was always a springboard for Goku.

Sure, but those are writing choices. Everyone got shafted, even Tien, the hardest working fucker out there, because genetics are insurmountable.

He didn't even bother keeping Piccolo relevant, even though he could easily continue to be powered up, as he's not hindered by being human as a foil to Goku.

I still like DBZ, but I only wish for more after I got old enough to think of the narrative.

The beginning of Z with everyone dying and all the revelations was amazing. I rewatched the Sayian saga. Very good narrative. Freeza saga too. It starts to fall apart after Goku becomes a Super Sayian as characters are completely out-classed. Krillin was a relevant fighter on Namek. Piccolo did some stuff. But by the end of the Android saga, they were nobodies. Toriyama could have given humans a power-up.

You're a fucking faggot dude

The Z fighters dying was cool, but they mostly went out for "free." Barely put up a fight. It was all just stalling for Goku. Same with the Ginyu force, but a little less so.

Somehow, the characters fighting Freeza was actually more interesting and productive than these two cases.

But yeah, by the super Saiyan thing, humans (and Piccolo, except for the half a second he was relevant fusing with kami) were just done. They were so irrelevant they couldn't even fight minor villains like Gero and fatty.

>we'll never get the gohan adventures we could have had before the buu saga changed direction
It could have been great.

I'm more annoyed that Goten and Trunks are irrelevant. They should be being trained. they have great potential. hundreds of times stronger than Goku and Vegeta at their age. But no one cares.

Gohan is a shitstain.
His Saiyaman antics were fun enough but I'm glad he fucked off to job with the Kais.
Yeah Super Gotenks and Vegito were the height of the Buu saga.
Also timeskip Goten and Trunks were pretty cool looking.

Goku should have gotten to beat Tenshinhan if so. That fucking truck is still one of the greatest asspulls of all time.

but super sand lesbian wasn't even a thing before the Saiyan saga
in fact, I don't think it was even a thing before Namek

No but it was introduced along with gokus origin.
I suppose you have a point though, it could have ended at vegeta, with goku rejecting his alien heritage and proving hard work means more than lineage.
It would have worked if vegeta had died.
Frieza felt conclusive in that he was ended, and at the time no more mysteries were to be found.
You don't go up from universe tier, planet busting tyrant with ties to the main characters origin.

Can we at least agree it went from good/bad to nosedive death spiral tailspin here:

...

the androids were fun but the time travel didn't quite connect in a coherent way
Cell was extremely fun when he was a bug, semi-perfect was interesting, and Perfect Cell was very imposing and a lot of fun, even though his resolution was subpar.
I could watch Great Saiyaman shenanigans forever, but unfortunately we only got a handful of episodes of it.
I was extremely excited for the Tenkaichi Budokai when I still thought it was actually going to be a tournament arc.
The leadup to Buu's resurrection could have been handled better, and that's where I'm up to.

If Dragon Ball ended with King Piccolo then it'd be some obscure manga from the 80s that no one ever talks about.

>Pic related.

You have 7 great seasons of Simpsons. Stop being a bitch. I acknowledge that it's shit now, but hey, you can always go back to the good episodes

The entire Dragon Ball series should have ended with Cell.

>Buu can regrow and absorb things to transform
>His master is an old man that gets killed by what he created
>Gohan's enraged form is now called Super Saiyan 2 and Goku and Vegeta have it, even though it was something connected to Gohan's anger that nobody else could do
>Goten is introduced to be a replacement for dead Goku, literally is just a Goku copy paste with no personality
>Piccolo is just a weak clown babysitter
>Humans even more useless
>Two kids can go SS just because
>Super Saiyan 3 is retarded and was stolen straight from Yu Yu Hakusho, Yusukes demon form appeared a whole year before SS3 did
>Asspull SS kids can go SS3 even though Goku only did it while he was dead
>Not just one asspull fusion, two of them
>Base Goten and Trunks fused is stronger than Super Perfect Cell

I watched it for the first time recently and loved it. Sounds like you're just butthurt moeblob faggots.

Gohan killing Cell was the end to DBZ and everything after isn't canon.

>picollo shits out an egg
>THE END

no you're retarded

>Krillin, Roshi, Chiaotzu and Shenron stay dead forever

>It should have ended after Picollo!
>It should have ended after Picollo's second fight with teenage Goku!
>It should have ended after Frieza!
>It should have ended after Cell!
>It should have ended after Buu!
and now
>It should have ended after GT!
>Super was a mistake!

>it should end 3 seconds before goku and uub leave!

Buu Saga was GT lite and paved the road for GT and Super. DBZ ended when Cell died, just accept it.

>goku drank some water and now he's 1000x stronger!!!

Why do people think this is a good arc?

What kind of fun hating retard doesn't love fusions?
The Buu saga was when DBZ went back to its comedy/action/magic origins and just let go and had fun.
DRAGON BALL is the mastery of asspulls.
And that's just fine.
Did you not enjoy candy Vegito beating Buu's ass? Or Babidi and his silly looking demons. Or Super Gotenks shouting a hole through space-time and creating ki donuts? Or fat Buu and Hercule antics?
Buu is the most Dragon Ball of all DBZ antagonists. And the Buu saga is the most Dragon Ball of sagas.
Jesus fuck I wonder if people even read the first part.
Thank Kami for all of that fun shit and GT instead of the furry god idiocy and saiyan recolors we get today.

>The Buu saga was when DBZ went back to its comedy/action/magic origins and just let go and had fun.
No it didnt.

>Dragon Ball is about powerlevel consistency and edgy character arcs, not comedy and over the top action
This is how retarded you sound.

>implying db wasnt edgy
>krillin gets his skull caved in
>all of goku's friends die
>piccolo and piccolo jr tortured goku

Buu arc was a complete copy of the Cell arc plot devised by a tired Toriyama that just wanted to call it quits. Face it Buu was garbage.

>muh edgy dbz
>dragonball was about comedy and fun

this is worse than anything in dbz
youtube.com/watch?v=QPw3F1Tqx0E

>>muh edgy dbz
>>dragonball was about comedy and fun
>this is worse than anything in dbz
you're just as bad as them considering you think they're two separate things

Nope.
And GT was great too.
I don't think you realize that even after it ended fans were thinking up the stupidest shit like SSJ5 fusions and Vegeta and Goku jr.
Dragon Ball was always about retarded looking asspulls.
It was never about autistic powerlevel bullshit.
It never made sense and it was never supposed to. DB is the kind of shit a 6 year old kid comes up with because it looks cool.
If you think DB is edgy that's only because of the Bruce Lee/kung-fu movie influences it had by the end of DB, which was just gone in DBZ.

>these are kind of people that find no flaws in super
this fanbase is so trash

Wait what.
I think Super is trash.

Buu Saga definitely had problems, but the high points of this arc is VERY VERY high. Buu was a very fun villain, all 3 main forms of him.It had the best fights with the best animation in the entire series, Gotenks was fun, Vegeta's sacrifice was great, Vegito was great, Satan x Buu was perfect, the final fight at Kaoishin's planet was great, Buu vs Buu and Vegeta buying time despite his entire existence being at stake, Spirit Bomb finally working, Dragon Balls being used to completely heal Goku, the end of Buu with Goku's monologue with Satan buying energy for him. I don't think I would change anything in it.

>had the best fights with the best animation in the entire series
Goku vs Majin Vegeta was good but everything else was beam spam and stupid ghosts. A shitty comic relief meme character like Mr.Satan being a hero while Piccolo and the Humans were left to rot sucked ass too.

Read the manga

This is absolutely false.
I was rewatching yesterday and it was great.
It was actually a big deal when Kuririn died. You could sympathize with how angry and hurt Goku was.
