ITT: first anime

that you went out of your way to watch instead of just turning on Toonami

Shikabane Hime (probably fucked the spelling). I watched it because it had a hot chick dual wielding uzis, and I was 14 with zero tastes. All I remember is she was a sort of zombie, the MC was offensively uninteresting, and the fights were ok. Also was my first dropped anime since I never bothered to finish it, so I guess even back then I had some taste.

Lucky Star, although I'm not especially proud of it.

It was either Ranma 1/2 or Record Of Lodoss War, the local library had both on VHS to borrow.
First anime I downloaded was Excel Saga, followed by .Hack/sign.

I didn't start following what was airing in Japan until much later, when I watched Gurren Lagann with Sup Forums.

You went out of your way to watch anime and you pick Digimon?

Pokemon

ikkitousen,it just randomly pop up on my recommending on youtube back in 2006

or maybe bleach, from random recommending from dailymotion

non recommending would be hunter x hunter the original because I thought the name was cool and edgy

Inuyasha
I was 9 and had access to a laptop, don't judge me

Chobits.

I didn't get the on switch thing for years.

Naruto

I don't even fucking remember man but god damn I loved my chinese cartoons.
Fucking wake up 5 in the morning to watch Tarzan Budlight gear and shit then switch to WB49 for some YuGiOh and Pkmn.
The tv was one of those shitty antennae ones but it worked. And then I discovered Dragon Ball, it was like heroin.

Love Hina. Back in 2001 I stumbled upon a scanlation site with the manga, which triggered my fall into weebdom. Ended up becoming obsessed with trying to find more of it and then soon after looked into finding more obscure anime.
Spent weeks trying to find some way to watch Japanese TV but couldn't find anything back then so I ended up buying a couple DVDs off Amazon. Coincidentally, due to the voices not matching the voices I'd pegged them for while reading the manga, this is also when I learned that sub>dub

I stumbled on Hare + Guu by accident and a few weeks later finished the series

Same here. I saw the first episode in High School anime club and downloaded the rest episode by episode from Kazaa or Limewire or whichever streaming site was the thing in those days. I think it would've been '01 for me as well, it was some time around 9/11.

...

Sword Art Online

I found it mediocre but just interesting enough to try more of what people around me had recommended (I'm in the FGC and a lot of my friends watch anime). I got sucked down the rabbit hole pretty quickly and subsist on a diet of moeshit. K-On is my favorite anime.

my dad was watching this and i liked it

This but Im really proud of it unlike this fag

...

I love Savers

MUSCLE'S GOT THE POWER
BUT HE'S ALSO KINDA NUTS

Savers is good

>tfw Adam probably made me appreciate lolis
I'm not sure if this was a good or a bad thing.

My little brother's friend came over when we first set up our internet fucking late in 2006 and introduced us to Youtube then.

Kimba
plus, what is "Toonami"

I have never used Toonami before, but the first anime I watched that wasn't Pokemon, was Mirai Nikki. Nowadays I still like it.

Naruto. All the way with fillers on because I was to retarded to know not every episode was Canon

kids these days...

This and BTX

b e a n

Death Note when it was airing, back in 2007

Evangelion, I remember buying DVD copies from my physics teacher in high school.

FMA 2003, Full metal panic or excel saga when I had access to internet
If parents gifting VHS count, then Grendizer.

I found Witch Hunter Robin on my brother's computer in 2005. And then in 2006 I watched Ergo Proxy as it aired which was coincidentally by the same director. Still love them both.

Saint Seiya Hades back in 2003.

Narutaru, around the time Dragon Ball reruns stopped airing on TV and I was just discovering you could watch animu on the internet.
Took me 5 years after to realize Narutaru was fucking garbage when Sup Forums called me a retard and assimilated me into the code geass hype train
