I know, the FMI Arc had some flaws. But the following pages are imo still the best pages in all of One Piece.

He suffers so we as viewers may prosper. Specifically by seeing all the hilarious faces he pulls and lines he spews. The guy has become one of my favourite secondary characters in the entire series due to his antics, personality and powers.

If he doesn't help the Strawhat gang now, he's fucked. He has no choice but to work with them. It's not just because they have his heart, he probably could've snagged his heart back at any time during this chaos, but now Big Mom wants his head and she's not gonna stop at anything until both Caesar and the Strawhats are in the dirt. He's got two choices, either try to get his heart back, leave the Strawhats for dead, and try to live the rest of his life in hiding, or put his all into helping the Strawhats and hope that by some miracle they can take down Big Mom and secure his safety in the process.

Well a few things could have happened:
1) Big mom can take away haki.
2) Luffy was exhasted before going into G4.
3) He went out of G4 after throwing the one punch he said he'd take.

It's either some unexplained power that Big Mom has yet to display, nor hint at, which is unlikely but still entirely possible, given the range of applications that the concept of 'souls' can be applied to. Or, much more likely, is that Luffy is still exhausted from his previous exertions through WCI, particularly Cracker's fight, and hasn't fully rested and refueled enough to stand up to such an overwhelming attack from Big Mom, despite being in Gear 4, which in itself is a huge stamina drain. In addition, he could have let Gear 4 go after that punch as he couldn't accept leaving her challenge unmet, but didn't intend to actually fight for any length of time due to the fatigue.

1. he gets exhausted whenever he leaves gear fourth

2. gear fourth didn't end, he left the form because he said "just one punch"

3. hours of fighting in it and little rest

It's pretty damn satisfying that she lived up to her reputation. I can't wait to see the remainder of the arc and how they deal with trying to get away from her. Doubly so for how they intend to deal with the threat looming over their loved ones elsewhere. Albeit I could see Big Mom herself less focused on seeking indirect revenge and opting for more direct recourse from them directly once she sorts out the damage to WCI.

Seems like Big Mam drained his haki tbqh. It took him like 10 minutes to use g4 for a second time against Doffy after fighting in the colleseuem and fighting Doffy for ages, so it makes no sense that he'd get this tired after he just ate and slept.

How do zoro's flying slashes work?
Superhuman strength from a motion causing air to be compressed so much, it functions as a projectile.
It makes even less sense with swords since the projectile is able to cut stuff instead of acting like a bullet, at least the flying shigan is somewhat believable.
