Maybe it's an autism thing

They all fail at it, so I wouldn't say they're enjoyable.

Fuck man I love Cocytus

Because if your reading/watching a show about adventures in a new/unknown world, you either have power fantasies or are an explorer at heart with nowhere left to explore.

>are an explorer at heart with nowhere left to explore
That's probably it.

That's definitely a cornerstone of the isekai popularity.

Overlords world is not interesting.

Yeah, there's barely anything explored in the world, it's like 90% power wank.

The whole book for Lizards, Humans, and Dworfs.
I think it's a substantial amount.

>pic not related

...

at least we get 2 books this year

Demiurge knows.

>generic fantasy setting
>video game elements
Great "worldbuiliding"

Overlord is about politics thoufgh.

>people hate overlord now
What happened?

Because that's what's it all about. Why have a fantastical new land and oportunities if you don't use them? If your little polt could happen anywhere and is not shaped by its sorounding then you did it wrong.

Also, right in the feels >explorer at heart with nowhere left to explore

Just drop the Isekai part and make good fantasy stories.

The problem with Isekai and worldbuilding is that they are often based video games and whatnot.

So the author doesn't even to create a somehow logicial world with own ruleset but just can excuse every nonsense with "it's a game world!".

This.
How to tell if your world building is trash: There's an adventurers guild.
Especially if there's no mention of the guilds that would actually exist such as a blacksmiths guild or alchemists guild. Mages guild is excusable if magic requires research and the mages are secretive about their findings.

Good thing Overlord isnt part of that.
Its not a game world, but a fantasy world where somehow mechanics of a game works even if a bit different. Otherwise so far the worldbuilding is solid. People have lives, politics power struggles ect. Death has a meaning in the overall world because ressurection magic is rare and unafordable or unuseable for common peasents.

You don't know shit about world builing if you think any of those are indicative of world building.
>People have lives
That's not good world building, that's basic common sense
>politics power struggles
"just as planned" is not world building
> Death has a meaning in the overall world because ressurection magic is rare and unafordable or unuseable for common peasents.
This is certainly not world building. That's just a factoid vague enough to be able to be used as a plot point whenever the writer wishes.

There is a mages guild, inventing new magic that didnt exist in the game world.

The adventurer guild was created to protect humanity that is overall inferior to the inhuman beast and creature that roam around. So in order for humanity gaining strengh the adventurer guild was created.

Seriously if a author gives you enough material about a world for me to create a sandbox game out of it as a hobby. Then thats world building for me.

Personally, I feel that the popularity of isekai is due to the fact that reality is so mundane. What does this world have to offer after all? Nothing, that's what.

I would rather watch isekai then turning into a SJW in order to flee reality.

Newfags

>isekai
>worldbuilding
something seems wrong here

I just like them.
Though the Hero stuff can go eat shit, with few exceptions which I liked.

I like it more when the protagonist turns into a monster or whatever or simply does his own thing without trying to save the world from whatever bullshit.
And fuck harem that you find every so often in those storys. Or if they think of obvious love interests as nothing but "little sister" or whatever bullshit. Shit like that belongs to the trash.

>the whole books about level 100 immortal demigods stomping lizards, humans

I'm constantly trawling through weird sites on the internet if that counts, because that's the most uncharted territory of them all.

Isekai barely focuses on world building because it's too focused on their shit MC's.

When will Nazarik find out Ainz is just a pretender and will end him?
When will Albedo discard Ainz and seek out the pleasure of being cummed insideagain, which he could never provide to her?

It has a lot to offer to people who aren't losers who spend all day alone in their parents' basement watching anime.

>mfw I used to live in a small town surrounded by a big ass forest in my childhood.
>mfw father and I moved to the city when I was 10 because he wanted a better future for me
>15 years later I became a wage slave and ended renting a room just for playing vidya and watching japanesse cartoons all day

T..thanks dad?

>overlord
>not about excessive world building
Maybe you shouldn't talk about something you don't know just because you want to post your shitty meme.

>or are an explorer at heart with nowhere left to explore.
Probably I'm this one.
It's a bit cringy, but I imagine myself isekai'ed to other world/s not as super duper OP guy(it's boring to one-hit stuff), but more as guy who just somehow survives all the bullshit around and gets into fun battles, best if it's against powerful females.

That's really melancholy, user

Not about 100lvl gods wrecking shit?

More accurately it would be like dropping a dragon 5 minutes into somebodies Dwarf Fortress game.

Meh, it's doable if you took military dwarves with shields and spears/crossbows.

It's jut the anti isekai fags who watch every single isekai making a fuss.

The whole point fo Isekai is how awesome the world is and how much you want to be in it

I wish more Isekai built their worlds instead of just ripping off the same Dragon Quest parody

Well the problem is that this is your first DF game ever.

really the entire series is basically how the world at large adapts to the arrival of the Main cast.

Cities can be explored too, as long as it's an actual city and not some shitty commuter town with nothing but box stores.

Forests, by contrast, are dangerous because of the increasing prevalence of ticks and their diseases: lyme, anaplasma, babesia, erhlicia, tularemia and spotted fever.

I love the outdoors and exploring, but shit isn't what it was 5 years ago.

Well, that's just a one settlement, there plenty dwarves for another go.

Fuck ticks.
If God exists, then I bet my ass that he is an asshole to some degree.

Don't forget about chiggers.

>I want everything explained in 1 vol if it's not it's shit and bad writing WAAAH

10,000 Years

>I love the outdoors and exploring, but shit isn't what it was 5 years ago.
Could you elaborate? It sounds interesting.

Fuck bugs in general, goddamn little cunts.

Perfect escapism

ffffffffffuuuug, born just in time to explore isekai

literally this. the biggest, most predominant problem with isekai is the wish fulfillment catering towards an obsessive otaku audience who want
>pure chaste virgin Harem (sex fantasy)
>overpowered self-insert protagonists (power fantasy)
>other juvenile fantasies (like MC-worshipping, money fantasy, etc.)
drop the whole "whoa I was just your average everyday Japanese high schooler when I went to another world where all my wishes came true" bit and your writing improves considerably.

this descripes Ainz godlike luck so well that it hurts.

>Spending many volumes without investigating further into the matter with little-to-no.
> Summoned just cuz MAGIC
> Continue focusing on jobbers that add nothing to the narrative and makes the pov shifts shit by making some flashback right before they die.
Yeah, great. It's shit, wanna give the same response inb4
> SPEEDREADER
> read the novel
> mental boogeyman

No, it's just people are starting to see the bull and hypocrisy of Overlordfags constantly giving the same response to any criticism without looking at their own fanbase. It's shit, and people will start shitting on a series and it's people because of the people.

>so fun to read or watch

I don't see how, I dropped this after being halfway episode two because I was cringing so much I couldn't bear watching anymore.

From what I've seen, it's "WOW MOMONGO-SAMA IS SO GRATE" and a succubus. I watched the first episode and thought holy fuck the cringe. Then the second episode started with a "no tits" joke. Once it got to the point of everybody saying how great Momonga is, and the succubus going full retard I quit.

I just don't get it.

Never.

I dropped RE:Monster a while ago because of the atrocious translations. Has anything happened? Is it up to snuff, worth a look-see?

Imagine finishing a game and getting your achievements listed by a VA at the end game credits, that's what the first 3 episodes pretty much are.

You could start by leaving the house, faggot.

>Implying that I'm not a trust-fund kiddy

I have personally observed positives for tickborne diseases doubling every year since 2011, and not simply Lyme. Cocktails of parasites, spirochetese and tularemia are becoming more common.

There's been an increase in requested tests, but also an increase in reported bites. The point that doctors are ordering tick panels and blood cultures on anyone who complains of a bite in a high incidence area.

Records also indicate that temperature and humidity are going up in the summer and decreasing in the winter, meaning more ticks survive into the winter months and are more active during the summer.

I also read this on FiveThirtyEight which is out of my realm of expertise, but correlates with what I've seen:

fivethirtyeight.com/features/lyme-disease-is-spreading-and-its-partly-this-mouses-fault/

Unlike other pests, ticks are hardy and the only chemical ways to kill them are toxic to humans as well. The only true solution is to burn down an entire forest, kill all the animals and restart it from scratch.

>Unlike other pests, ticks are hardy and the only chemical ways to kill them are toxic to humans as well.
There is permethrin, but it's more for personal defence and it's applied to clothes as skin contact nullifies it in 20 minutes.

There's two opinions of Overlord, those who like the MMORPG part and those who like the D&D part. When I lurked the Overlord generals, people who disliked the lizards and dwarves worldbuilding (4 + 11) tended to love the power fantasy volumes (1, 7, 9).

I think Climb is the best way to evaluate what Overlord fan you are. If you think he's a great character, you're in the worldbuilding group. If you think he's boring as shit you're in the power fantasy group.

The anime largely only covered the power fantasy bit. Season 2 covers the lizards which is where the worldbuilding gets serious.

> think Climb is the best way to evaluate what Overlord fan you are. If you think he's a great character, you're in the worldbuilding group. If you think he's boring as shit you're in the power fantasy group.
I disagree with this. Maybe I'm just an outlier, though I doubt it, but I am not a big fan of Climb. I don't hate him, but I don't really like him, and I am 100% in the worldbuilding, d&d group

Permethrin is a carginogen, so it is insidiously toxic. That might be surprising, but so is bovine serum albumin apparently, since products containing BSA have carcinogen labels on them.

>Permethrin is a carginogen
What isn't in this cursed world?

In general anything that's going to kill another living thing on contact, I would be highly suspect of it being a carcinogen - for example, RoundUp, which logic says shouldn't be a carcinogen since its agent of action is on plants, but I woudn't be surprised if it is just because of what it does.

I forgot to mention that when I was younger, I would explore random bodies of water too, but these days I'm too scared to do anything because Nagleria fowleri and Leptospira are on the rise and has been found even in colder lakes of Minnesota and Canada.

CEO of Monsanto or other higher up refused to drink despite saying it isn't toxic to humans.

I require your rare nazaricks. also, anyone hype for shieldbro anime? We're also getting it's spinoff adapted into manga and novel

Eh, the Shieldbro manga turned to shit really fast, so I'm not very hyped.

...

Well, theres alwas the spear hero apinoff. It expores stuff not seen in the novels and does a few what ifs

>Wanting a spinoff of the objectively worst character
Spearfag is a fucking idiot

Thats what we're getting. I wasnt expecting it myself either. But havjng read a few chapters of it before i say sure why not.

It's about that too, sometimes, but it's more about how a level 100 god goes about doing things without wrecking shit.

Season 2 is probably going to be the Lizard Man arc (unless they pare it down and try to fit two arcs in one season). World building probably won't happen until Season 4.

Guess that's why I like fantasy and sci-fi RPG games

>Power fantasies.
>Bad.
Why not both?

Not really, no.

The original team basically stopped translating. The Re:Monster wiki is doing machine translation at a notable pace. It's not great. But they're only slightly behind the Japanese releases

Because youre an mmorpg playing loser that finds it easy to self insert into isekai?

>loser
You mean winner.

>reality is so mundane.
Reality is fucking weird, man. There's all sorts of weird shit that happens but people are too focused on the little things to notice.

You ever notice just how fucking weird and diverse the animal kingdom really is or all the strange, weird legends and myths that crop up all over the world from people? There are proteins in your body named after Sonic the Hedgehog and Pikachu. There are lost ruins drowned in the oceans and we are living on a massive chunks of a giant ball that is constantly shifting, moving around inside itself as it orbits an astronomically larger object in space made of plasma that is dwarfed in size by even larger objects separated from it by an absurd, nigh-incomprehensible distance from it. Reality is fucking weird, man.

>Which repeats endlessly.
Gets boring after a while.

Wouldn't being isekai'd into a new fantasy world get boring too once you get used to it?

Naturally. Unless there was something that dramatically broke the rules once in a while... y'know, like magic.

Magic always comes with its own set of rules user. Once you learn those rules, magic becomes mundane.

Reminder the first 8 chapters of the manga/first vol of the LN were decent. It shit the bed after that.

Shield bro was decent till more girls were added to the party. I'd have been the adventures of Naofumi and Raphtalia with loli bird but in pet form only.

Hey, user who got butthurt of overlord that he replied to a dead thread's post about overlord in a new isekai thread. You are totally a reasonable person and not a minority among minority.

Half of the women/girls arent romantically interested however. Though they add one more now in the LN i think

The problem with Shield Hero arent the girls at all, but how OP Naofumi becomes later.
at some point, Raphtalia just wants Naofumi to fuck her brains out, but he sees her as a daughter till later.

Shield bro is the one who actually doesnt give a shit bout the girls till later in the WN.

Though he subconsciously has fallen so hard for her that not being together makes him extremely anxious. And even raph-chan couldn't calm him down completely.

>but how OP Naofumi becomes later.
You have not senen OP until you've read the timeloopy adventures of lvl999 insane Spear hero... Or rifana

>or are an explorer at heart with nowhere left to explore.
>Said +explorers at heart with nowhere left to explore" have probably never gone more than 100 miles from their own home and only seen other places through a screen.

There's a whole wide world out there anons.
