Are they voiced by live-action actors?

yes

Wait really?

The live action was good, thanks to the kind user who posted it here.

I heard something like that in the previous thread.
Popular actors

Nah, it's not them.

Isn't this NTR?

>Sup Forums memes

I don't think I'll ever get tired of these character designs, the style always looks so clean and appealing.

>cashing in on the your name bucks

MC being a beta doesn't mean its NTR.

Anime doesn't get made overnight. This would've been in the works before Your Name was released.

It's been a year since it was released, and this is just a pv.

>and this is just a pv.
Release date is next month

So a year from seeing how successful Your Name was. That's enough time for an anime film to be made, and about as much as you'd expect if it was literally trying to target the same audience and make money while it's popular.

Fireworks was announced in December, only a few months after Your Name was released. You're underestimating how long it takes for an anime to go from an idea to something they can actually show off.

December is six months after Your Name was released

Not really, thanks to some day restarting magic.

Love the animation and music, but I'm not down to watch a love triangle

>NTR is now Sup Forums

If it's anything like the live action, it's not.

Watanabe is like the Horiguchi of SHAFT now. Every fucking show they use his designs. I'm not saying I don't like them, but I really enjoyed SHAFT in their early days because they tackled a wide variety of works and each looked very unique. Now everyone mistakes every new SHAFT show for something related to Monogatari because Watanabe does the character designs.

This also looks really grounded for SHAFT. There's very little of their usual bizarre artistic choices. Denpa Onna might be the last show I can remember that SHAFT really toned down their style. I'm still fairly excited though. The PV's have a lot of good animation so hopefully Gen'ichirou Abe, Imamura and more will be putting good work into this.

Your Name was released in Japan at the end of August and Fireworks was announced at the beginning of December. That's 3 months between them.

Why is does the voice acting in anime films sound different to tv anime? More "normal"

You can tell by how hollow main girl's voice sounds.

It's not voiced by her though, it's some other VA.

It's time for Shaft to come back and punish Koe no katachi.

Also this song is the fucking best, I'm glad they're using it in the new film.
youtube.com/watch?v=qsFoOiFeI_A

Anime films often star dorama actors who usually have bland voices and sound/talk like normal people. This is done to attract normies who watch doramas.

Looks very monogatari. I'm not that interested anymore.

Those voices are awful. No emotions.

it'll be very hard to live up to a Shunji Iwai film though, it's a good thing they aren't adapting Love Letter.

Just like real Japanese.

I like how original Not Your Name looks.

1. this film was made in 1993
2. they're nothing alike

>Now everyone mistakes every new SHAFT show for something related to Monogatari because Watanabe does the character designs.
Only retards do this.

Can't really blame them, Watanabe designs are samey as fuck.

Boy meets girl in a school and they dont fuck.
Sounds original allrigth

1. he already knows her
2. it's a coming of age story

>Boy meets girl in a school and they dont fuck.
Koe no Katachi?

Why are all high budget anime movies nowadays romances? Is the industry so on it's knees that studios wouldn't dare attempt other genres with big projects like this?

I really like Watanabe designs, but I agree they should have more variety.

Looks boring. Hope it flops

He has only done designs for Zaregoto and Popotan, the latter of which was released years before Monogatari, and now this new movie. You're an idiot and so is anyone who thinks that.

so this.... is the power of shaft with a movie budget
woah....

Monogatari, Popotan and Zaregoto are already a third of their shows to be honest.

that scene was pure kino
youtube.com/watch?v=vHSAf2GxFRE

Aside from a couple shots by the end it looks very normal.

Who doesnt want more of this?

Animation is great

Greatly average.

Meh

110 countries

Probably to save on animation budget. Romances don't need super flashy, expensive animation, but can still look super impressive if you pump money into them.

>Watanabe is like the Horiguchi of SHAFT now.

Except Watanabe's designs are actually versatile.

Fuck Horiguchi. She was pure cancer and her influence still clings to KyoAni till this day.

gotta link???

>Why are all high budget anime movies nowadays romances?
>Meanwhile KyoAni is looking to pour mad budget on Violet Evergarden

They are as versatile as hirogushit's though.
You can see monogaytari face up in this bitch, you're blind if you say otherwise.

>This
>Zaregoto
>Owarimonogatari
>Sangatsu no Lion S2
>Fate/Extra Last Encore

How the hell is anyone at SHAFT even alive right now with how much work they're probably drowning in?

I found it in the archive, I think you could've too, but since I'm nice:

>That's enough time for an anime film to be made
No it isn't

They outsource a lot.

By delaying Zaregoto a ton and filling it with bad CG. Then taking 18 months to release Kizu.

>Fuck Horiguchi. She was pure cancer and her influence still clings to KyoAni till this day.

Horiguchi's influence wasn't just about the character design aesthetic. Her legacy was the animation direction prowess she displayed while she was in KyoAni. She was known for her take on motion.

Watanabe on the other hand is just straight up designs and that's it.

Zaregoto gets 20min of animation every 1-2 months
Owarimonogatari #2 is a special instead of a normal cour

But this movie, March comes like a lion2 and fateshit I just dont understand. How much are they going to outsource?

Owari 2 is still 7 episodes worth of animation, even if it's not a full season.

>Satoru Kosaki
Nice.

>movies

>that's the point

is this ss

I don't see how KyoAni making Violet Evergarden, a TV series, is in any way related to anime movie tendencies.

Well they just made Koe no Katachi which was fantastic in the visual department. Instead of probably backing down and making Violet Evergarden a movie they went in and made it a full TV series and still doubling down on the visuals.

The point of making romance movies is that they want to hit the non-otaku audience. Violet Evergarden isn't the kind of thing that has a chance of hitting mainstream.
If they want otakubucks the safest route is a TV series, then after grabbing the viewers they can make movies to cash in. Pretty much what they do with every successful series.

I think they're supposed to be the same age, but the girl looks a lot older than him

The colours look a bit kind of dull but it looks like it's well made.

That's a lot of wrist grabbing.

How can Kyoani even compete?

Shaft is shit.

Same producer.

What's wrong with the voice acting? Why does it feel like the voices don't come from the character but rather somewhere further away?

Why did they pick this female VA, She's only had one role before.

Least Miyano is in it.

Woah, looks like shit.

Senjougahara fucking around

>literally a ripoff of kimi no na wa
SHAFT is dead.

Live action actors

>Fuck Horiguchi. She was pure cancer and her influence still clings to KyoAni till this day.
No it doesn't. Horiguchi was all about simple designs and cartoony animations.
That's the opposite of KyoAni today.

They've probably taken on more staff in preparation of all the Fatebux they'll be getting.

The film is being funded by the same companies and the same producer put it together.

This is not romance

that's it, we've exhausted every possible japanese film title under one sentence long. now everything has to be 20 characters long.

It's the safest option. If you write any kind of fantasy (SF to heroic fantasy) it needs to be either family friendly (meaning you compete with Ghibli) or interesting and complex enough to be an adult movie (you're now competing with Ghost in the Shell). It's hard to do the first one without being too cliché, and the second one requires a lot of subtility. In both case you need to work a lot in order to create an interesting setting that the public will accept in the first minutes of the movie. If you can't it's only going to be enjoyed by otakus.

So what they do is romance and adaptations taking place in modern days and with highschool characters. Because it's more manageable and easy to work with. You can spend more time focusing on other aspects of the movie. In this case since it's the adaptation of a movie you already have a great frame of reference and people who liked the original might come watch the adaptation.

This movie is made so Shaft can hopefully get the larger public to see the movie in theaters.

I wonder how many screens TOHO are planning on putting the film on to open.

Thank god it's not Hitagi and little Koyomi.

>his artstyle is samey
>you're an idiot if you think that
?

>Dose lips

Isn't Evergarden a romance, or at least have romance?

You're forgetting his eroge works user. Notably Grisaia wich has not!Hitagi as one of the main heroines.

Are they perhaps building up more in-house talent like Kyoani? Maybe I don't read enough industry stories, but they seem to be a rather quieter, more cagey studio overall.

I admire their work ethic (yes, really; how can't you admire a studio that tries to do as much as they can?) and determination, but if they aren't trying to build up more in-house talent, how can they keep up?

It has romance.
