1. Elliot Rodger was primarily motivated by loneliness and shame, not because he was mad about being a virgin.
2. Elliot Rodger had the unique experience of being born as a top 1%, and steadily falling to a 10%er. While many people assume he lived a rich and privileged life, and to a large extent he did, the fact is that his mom and his dad went broke during his lifetime. He watched his lifestyle and familial wealth downgrade significantly year after year after his dad went broke trying to make that pathetic movie about the definition of God.
3. Elliot said he needed to kill his baby brother, the only person that seemed to truly like him, respect him, and enjoy his company. That has 100% to do with his shame, and is not as irrational as it sounds if you think about it from that framework.
4. Elliot made multiple treks to Arizona to try to win the Powerball. To rely on the lottery to change your life, it really highlights his inability to gauge and adjust his SELF. Babies typically can do nothing but whine, because whining is the way method babies have of enacting change in their circumstances, Elliot sadly never grew beyond this stage.
5. Despite his rhetoric about taking revenge on the blonds and obnoxious brutes, his most brutal actions was the 90+ stabs he plunged into his male asian roommates. This again, points out to his shame. He expressed in his journal that even with the roommates that he liked, he still hated the fact that they were "witnesses" to his shameful existence. In the end, his habit of "hiding" from reality through WoW caught up to him. In the end, the shame and his inability to face reality overwhelmed him.
