In a series where every character of impact is a horrible monster who commit often times honestly disgusting atrocities, swept under the rug because they partake in outlandish anime shenanigans, with the closest thing to a hero being a side character who occasionally stops another side character more outlandishly disgusting atrocities, and there is zero hope of anything ever stopping any of this, leaving nothing to ever root for, why do you still like it?

If I simply ascribe it to power fantasy, then given the context I would have to assume everyone who likes it is that one edgy dude who thinks a black trench coat makes him look cool, and that doesn't strike me as being the case, so there must be SOMETHING that draws you to it.

It's a tragicomedy if you will. Even the over-the-top-edgy Demiurge has his goofy moments, and Ainz basically goes THIS WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN every time they do something overtly evil. Not to mention his end goal is an Utopia.

I always go back to this, but the LN goes around by betraying expectations. It's a hundred times more a story about misunderstandings than "evilness" as a plot point.

I heard shit about yen press but I can't read jap and the manga's localization was progressing far too slowly, literally bought first 3 volumes, didn't bother giving a proper read, and went straight into 4 and felt like I caught up with everything in an instant.
