2009-2013: Sup Forums went full p4k, started revering mildly experimental 90s-00s alternative rock and modern acclaimed indie stuff like AC, only super acclaimed modern artists were popular like Kanye. ITAOTS becomes the defining album of Sup Forums.
2013 - now: much more people "ironically" listening to pop and hip hop music, more posers who worship scaruffi and try to seem cool because they have the most eclectic taste, Kanye, david bowie and similar artists become even more popular. ITAOTS has waned a lot in popularity but is still the principal album associated with the board

Honestly Chester had a pretty fucked up life. Looking back, most of those lyrics honestly really meant something to him and teenagers related to them on a level no where near him. Kids thought those lyrics meant being ousted by society because they weren't popular in school. Chester wrote them because of childhood sexual and drug abuse that he never recovered from.
Granted they are still super edgy, but it's not really as superficial as we've believed before.
