No, I actually see not enough moderation, or at least very inconsistent moderation. If anything the whole the reason why there isn't much "fun", whatever that actually constitutes, is because we conglomerate into generals and pseudo-generals, forcing them to keep them alive through constant bumps and forced conversation, instead of spreading out and having more small but spontaneous threads about anime and manga.

For some time now, there's been a problem in that fun is quickly invaded by shitposters or outsiders who ruin the fun. As a result, it's possible for moderation to be too lax and too restrictive at the exact same time, which makes this a difficult problem. Having fun requires users to be relatively responsible, but there isn't a good enough mechanism for stopping users who are deliberately destructive. The rest of Sup Forums needs to be whipped into shape first.

There's no rule against bumping, but I can tell you right now I've been banned or warned for "low quality posts" for the most random shit that people do all the time probably to fill a quota. If they wanted to, mods could do work and scare newfags and generalfags off but they don't seem to care. I've been browsing Sup Forums since 2007. I would have been considered a newfag just a few years ago but I guess I've been here for a decade now.
I've always been a supporter of strong moderation, especially self-moderation, but the current community is a hivemind of autistic rule lovers. New Sup Forums is like if all the kids who would tell on their classmates grew up and formed a society. Order is one thing, but there's virtually none of the whimsical atmosphere that used to pervade this place.
What can you do though? Places and people change. Either adapt or move on.
