how do people in their 20's and even 30's continue to work in retail without falling into a deep depression realizing they have wasted their lives?
have they truly set the bar so low that they are willing to accept less than $10 an hour for a thankless, unrewarding, and ultimately deadend job and are willing to waste their lives?
Jeremiah James
its for the "culture"

There are a million reasons someone capable of doing a lot more with themselves ends up working at Starbucks, most of which involve things outside their control
Jeremiah Hughes
why are you assuming that they don't live a miserable existence?
Gavin Morgan
>a million reasons not to ask for all million, but how many of them are not related to a complete lack of motivation and thus by proxy a complete lack of worth as a human being?
i mean why havent they changed? its almost like there are career freeters out there just working shitty menial jobs wasting their lives.
Ayden Barnes
anyone with those tattoos and that look is already so deep in denial that reality is forever skewed
Carter Turner
This attitude is why people wind up at Starbucks. It's ALWAYS someone else's fault.
Jayden Nelson
>waaaaaaah not my fault
Julian Jackson
Bourgeois sniffing at people who don't make a lot of money is the corollary to their fanatic efforts to push social justice; what REALLY lies at the core of their identity is a need to feel like they ended up successful because they deserve it, rather than the arbitrary vicissitudes of capitalism and happening to know the right person. They deal with the gnawing doubt associated with the idea that maybe they just got lucky by hyperventilating about microaggressions and manspreading because they are extremely invested in building this idea that if they DIDN'T make it, it would have been because of structural forces outside their control. The schizophrenic dichotomy of "I'm here because of merit, and everyone else who isn't here was prevented from getting here because of structural forces" is what makes their seething hatred of white men so fierce, and why if you give them literally any opportunity to do so they have infinite vitriol to vent about how right-wing white men "are just losers who can't succeed". Every ounce of their own insecurity is focused into that very specific avenue

>i mean why havent they changed? its almost like there are career freeters out there just working shitty menial jobs wasting their lives. are you retarded? what else do you think they can do? workers in our society have absolutely no leverage what so ever. those people mostly all realize that we're all complete slaves thrown a few bread crumbs and entertained with circuses while we slave away our lives so the truly rich can treat us like cattle and trash and live their lives in complete luxury off the fruits of slave labor

If you have to work more than 8 hours a day you're already wasting your life, it doesn't matter if it's a soulless retail job or a soulless CEO job. You really think someone who's lying in his deathbed cares about how much money he's made? It's all a waste of life in the end.
Jeremiah Rodriguez
pic reminds me of exgf who is a part time bartender now. tats, nose piercing, petite, good looking. OP pic women was good enough looking to snag a successful man. Instead she gratified herself, got some std's. and has some bernie posters. It's too late for these women. But at least she is free.
Cooper Jenkins
Baristas are so fucking cringe worthy.

If you haven't started down a career path by like 25 its most likely over for you. A lot of these kids have no idea how fucked they are. They wasted precious time that they will never get back. Its very very very hard to work your way through school while working enough hours to support yourself, especially when studying a demanding major. So many people today in their 20's have no idea that their life is already over, they missed the boat. Most of the time it was their fault, some were just plain unlucky. So glad I'm not one of them.
Blake Lee
The sad fact is that on $10 an hour for the rest of your career you won't be able to buy a home, a decent (reliable) car, go on any vacation, bring up kids, or even afford a fucking dog.
Asher Perry

Because we have learnt that we don't need to waste our lives living in squalor and at the mercy of the banks with multiple jobs like our parents did.
Sure, maybe we are wage slaves. But we don't have some deluded aspirational class idiations about working ourselves to death to become a millionaire either.
Nathan Martinez
See the thing about today is "adolescence" has stretched to like early/mid 20's. Well, in theory it has. But the reality is you've just became a full blown adult loser. Your early 20's are not for fun, enjoyment or pleasure. They were for studying your ass off in hard subjects and working like an animal, so that you can have some peace of mind by 30. Many people did not do this (but I did). Your 30s will be hell on earth I can promise you that, and there is no way out of it.
Most of you have nobody to blame but yourselves. Hope playing video games and smoking weed was worth throwing your life away over.
Henry Turner
Jesus, just lie on your resume until you land a $16/hr job, it's what I did after years of NEEThood, don't ever take min wage.
In a couple years I'll be making $25-30/hr in a comfy inspection job after 3 years in the trade, because everyone else is too dumb to pass the certification test.
Kevin Fisher
You're just insecure about throwing away your youth to make money
Colton Reyes
They are miserable.. They escape in any way they can whether it is drugs, food, entertainment etc.
The reason they dont change is because they are crippled mentally. Its the same reason most people dont change much. You can go far when you adhere to a pattern or a formula but you are fundamentally doing the same thing as them and you would need to understand your entire mind very deeply to be different. All it takes is for the society to be stacked against you slightly and that translates into massive losses in a superficial world were even minor setbacks a detrimental. Its like being in a race and starting 5 minutes late.. youre fucked and there is no reason to change, just be suicidal and gorge yourself however possible.
Bentley Garcia
If you do not have a career type job with career type pay, how are you going to live today? Do you want to be 30 years old splitting rent with 4 other people? Do you ever want to own a car or a house? You're not on $10 - $15/hr.
NYC or any major city like that, their parents are either paying their rent or helping out a lot. There are 30 - 40 year old grown ass adults in NYC who still have their parents pay their rent.
Leo Powell
It's sad that they cannot go the American Dream route and create their own coffee stop with StarJews killing the American family own coffee shops. Not to mention over 6 gorillions regulations that family owned shops have to deal with if they want to compete with corporations. Sad.

>how do people in their 20's and even 30's continue to work in retail without falling into a deep depression realizing they have wasted their lives? Normies are wired different from us, they like people + they probably have friends both at work and off work. Some people are perfectly content with that kind of work.
Almost like people are genetically programmed to work and enjoy different thing so that we can all complement each other and be useful for the tribe.
Ryan Rivera
Good grief, WTF IS that thing?
Here's a real woman to wash that troglodyte out of your eyes.

What did you do in your youth that I didn't? I went to a few college parties, tried weed a few times, drank, hooked up. If you threw your life away to do that I feel sorry for you. If you were a nerd that stayed inside to play video games I feel even worse for you.
Joshua Miller
Because they have cool tattoos and ear thingies that hundreds of new people see every day. Its the perfect job for their narcissism.
Julian Foster
>why havent they changed? How? They're kept busy and they can barely make rent. They have no time or money to invest in themselves.
Kevin Jenkins
I make good money and worked hard in college I'm just not invested in thinking that this somehow makes me superior
Leo Foster
I used to grow weed for the medical mj dispensaries, but when it became legal I got replaced by some faggots. I continued growing it illegally for awhile, was making decent money but by family shunned me. So I stopped doing that, and now I work a retail job.
No bullshit, I contemplate killing myself every single day. I also have grown to fucking hate my family. Whenever I see them, it's exhausting to maintain the illusion that I don't fucking hate my existence. If I express to them how I actually feel, their suggestions are things like "I knew a guy who started off at Best Buy, now he's a manager. Why don't you try that?"
I wish I had dropped out of high school honestly. Cause then I wouldn't have gotten into drugs, and probably would have gotten good at something else. Instead, I have zero skills and hate every second of my existence.
Don't be like me.
Cameron Collins
It's a wonderful society isn't it?
You don't die, you just have the option of death, or a grueling, unsatisfying life where all your free time is spent working for a pittance and you'll never own a home or raise a family. Never a vacation, never a life outside working. I'd rather death desu.
Anyways it'll be moot within 30 years - all these service jobs will get automated where possible.

Yet we are told we will have to change careers at least 3 times in our lives in the modern economy.

We both had a choice in life. I graudated high school at 18, I went off to college and hit the books hard studying a degree that was in demand. I worked part time at a job that was embarrassing, I worked very very hard and studied. I earned internships and made a lot of connections, I graduated at 22 with a job lined up. By 24 I started to see some money, now at 27 I'm starting to take off. This did not happen over night. While you were smoking weed, drinking, partying, hooking up, wasting your time with video games and internet, I was working. Now we are the same age and I'm worth 15 - 25x what you are and growing.
Like I said, for many of you 25+ its already too late.

Listen to Jordan Peterson. It is your duty to work and take part in society. If you want western civilization to survive, the market must survive. Get a job and work. Even if the bankers will still own you, you have to accept this, because not everyone is meant to achieve what they have achieved. Become disciplined and give your whole lifetime for the greater good of society.

Middle class isn't like that, and middle class is where all the service jobs cater. Middle class are the best kinds of people, they have careers, families, homes, cars, etc. and they're mostly polite.

Because its easy and has no responsibility. You can do it forever and make enough to get by comfortably and thats all people want these days.

Sure, boomers, y'all ne'er did anything wrong and had it harder than all other generations in American history- now can you fuck off back to your beer and football?
Kayden Cox
Because its not. People get laid off left right and centre these days for no reason.

Good post. Ties into the classism on the left and how identity politics is an expression of classism and thr disregard of economic populism. The only true tangible quantifiable privilege is economic privilege.
Liam Jenkins
Guarantee I make more money than you

If your job (at 25-30 ) is a min.wage slave job that forces you to work 40+ hours a week just to barely afford food and a rental basement suite with 2 other people, yes your life is pretty much fucked. Every waking moment will be dedicated to that wagecuck grind.
Some might make it out through pure will and find a better path, the majority just don't. I should know, more than half of the people I knew from highschool grad still work these shit jobs, and they're all reaching their late twenties. What hope do they have that life will ever be anything more than retail, netflix and alcohol?
It's a miracle I managed to get into college and find a decent paying job through connections made in jobs prior.
David Wright
I didnt. I stopped working because I was spending most of my days at work with passive suicide ideation. Became a neet, recovered partially from it, but after 4 years (never signed up for welfare) I ran out of savings and became depressed. Now living on unconditional welfare and am scared as fuck to try to rejoin the work force. Useless neet leech > passive suicide ideation. I have no idea how people stand working shit entry level jobs without killing themselves.
Christopher Wright
people in actual careers have work tomorrow too...
Ryan Cook
>The sad fact is that on $10 an hour for the rest of your career >10 bucks an hour >rest of career >career Unless you literally started out in a third world shithole peddling plastic garbage to tourists i don't think that counts as a career.
If you don't progress its not actually a career, its just a job.
Asher Green
I thank God I have never ever worked with the general public.
Nathaniel Ross

Mason Adams
Money allows experiences and creations.

I have no one to blame but myself. I ditched school to hang out with "friends" and do drugs. Now I'm 27 years old working at Applebees. I'm going to get a motel room and a bungie cord so I can hang myself next weekend. I know I'm a piece of shit anons so no need to add kindle in this fire.
Liam Flores
Always a meme flag, these bait posts.
Brayden Collins
Do something you like and you don't feel like wasting your life when you work.
Benjamin Adams
Everyone has to work. The difference is I get up to go to a job inside where I am respected, I drive a nice car, have my own place, have paid vacation and many benefits, I get to wear nice clothes to work which make me feel good about myself. And I get paid good for it all. You on the other hand have to go work your miserable, embarrassing , retail type shit job where you'll earn pennies.
Elijah Nguyen
had a restaurant server in Vegas literally ask if we needed any hookups while taking our drink orders. that is a sad life to be living.
Ethan Jackson
>You don't die, you just have the option of death, or a grueling, unsatisfying life where all your free time is spent working for a pittance and you'll never own a home or raise a family. Yeah, if you're a stupid fuck who plays by the rules that nobody else follows. How do you think niggers manage to wake up at noon and have 8 kids? Are niggers smarter than the white man?
James Edwards
I guarantee you don't. Keep flashing that extra chromosome, we're all VERY impressed.
Asher Price
They barely count as people. I’m smart but I’m not smart enough that I don’t have to work hard, and thankfully my parents made sure I knew the value of hard work from a young age. I’m in college and my grades are good, I have a job, and I do research. I have almost no free time. I look around at other people and they’re just coasting through life with no real goals or ambition and I just hope they know the future they’re signing up for.
All I can say is that most poor people deserve to be poor

Good luck having enough energy after your 9 to 5 to ''follow your dreams''.

Damn dude, thats not even a real restaurant.
Justin Cook
prove you did any of that lol

Heres one of the many exciting things you get to deal with woring a retail/food service job.
I get paid $7.36/hr to clean up other peoples human waste, other job duties include cleaning up other peoples children, reorganzing merchandise thay adults fuck up because they cant moved to return items to the checkout counter. My least favorite customers are meximutts with their hordes of unsupervized children and curry niggers that haven't figured out not to stand on the toilet.
Extra bonus that my coworkers, save for one, are the laziest, most unorganized fucks ive had the displeasure to work with.
Im not enslaved to an African warlord being forced to mine diamonds though, so its not all bad.
Samuel Garcia
In 2013 I had the world at my feet. In 2015 everything went down the drain.

That's why $100k is the bare minimum I'm willing to work for

If you can't network and make connections, you'll be fucked for life. It's the single best way to get your foot into a career started. Anything else requires stupendous effort by comparison. While a "hire this guy I know him from highschool" is enough to land you a basic career.
Part of the problem right now is that a lot of kids were taught all the wrong things growing up, and have had to forcibly re-learn that no, reality doesn't work the same way the liberal "educators" told you it does.
It absolutely isn't. Not unless you're enjoying it and making enough to live how you want to live, which I don't think is the case for the majority of baristas.
Jaxon Ward
I know. I'm a fucking loser.
Josiah Williams
It is potentially too late to have families at that point. But it's never too late to educate yourself and it learn new skills.
John Harris
She probably makes a lot of money and has lots of free time. I have known the type and they make $500 for a 4 hour shift easily. They leverage social networking and promote the bars and niche music scene nights, get a following of puppies, and easily walk into more work whenever a new bar/night opens. They bank over $100k, most untaxed, and only work 20 hours a week by playing the game.
Anthony Fisher
>It absolutely isn't. Not unless you're enjoying it and making enough to live how you want to live, which I don't think is the case for the majority of baristas. so it isn't but it is? thanks for the info

Starbucks is obviously headed by a genius: Give them a fancy italian sounding job title and they will happily work for peanuts while looking down on the poor niggers working at the Mc Donalds across the street.

I never thought I'd say this, but have you considered (((the military)))?
Coast Guard is a really sweet deal and it's like 90% white.

Why did we create a society that actively punishes people who follow the rules?

I'm trying to make it in writing but while I pay my dues in that field I still have to pay rent so here I am. I've got a plan and my writing income is moving ahead of schedule.
