Ok so basically i'm thinking of buying a Rolex. I am not a materialistic person or one for showing or flexing wealth but I feel this is a pretty solid investment as I can give it to my future son and probably grandson ect.

I am quite conservative and practical in everything else I buy.
And just to let you know I can easily afford it without any determent to my other expenses and investments.

If you want a watch made by Rolex but with a lower sticker price, IIRC, a Tudor is a watch made by Rolex but it didn’t pass the tests to be labeled Rolex. They may only be available in Switzerland.

Just like diamonds, Rolex' watches are expensive because the parent company tightly controls supply. In bad years, they even buy back unsold watches from their retailers.
As for worth, there are much more interesting companies, e.g. Sinn Spezialuhren in Germany.

Buy smaller brands in the same price range - look for companies manufacturing their own works, not buying standard works (ETA) and putting them into their housings.
Buy a Tudor Submariner instead. It's Rolex without the riffraff.
That said, they're great when you need a couple grand in a pinch. You can always sell a Submariner and get a gun/plane ticket/escort whatever anywhere in the world
