Toriko

What went wrong Sup Forums? This manga was great, but after the AIR arc, it started to rush to the finale. Then, those charming fuckers at Toei had to go and fuck up the anime, when the guys responsible for the 2009 special would have done so much better.

>This manga was great

at the end of the day the best part about this manga was the fights and the art, which in my opinion never really waned in quality. the story meant fuck all.

I firmly believe it started dying that time the author spent like 3 chapters introducing all the pointless ass chefs for the chef contest. How could the editor possibly think that was a good idea?

Had some decent moments after that but all the rushed parts lacked any sort of weight.

Decent ideas mostly terrible execution

I haven't seen the anime but did read the manga all the way through. What I think went wrong was powerlevels getting way to fucking big, then not mattering at all any more. That ending with the gun planet was pretty cool though.

You can tell the quality started dropping when jump was trying really hard to make it the next big thing

Black Clover is next

Chef arc killed it, space arc never.

Yeah, might have been to much pressure on the guy. Its like he wanted to stick to ADVENTURE but cause of the push he was told he needed more FIGHTIN. Most entertaining arcs were possibly the casino arc and the ozone arc.

I think I liked Gourmet Pyramid the most. The double spread showing the whole underground palace was mindblowing. I loved Toriko crazy world, on par with One Piece. Shame it got canned.

Never sold well enough for the effort threw at it.

It's like Kongou Banchou in it's unabashed shonen nonsense but it's fun while it does it but that doesn't sell.

I imagine the mangaka intended it to last way longer but after the anime ended and didn't get a second run then he just decided to end it.

Forgot about that! Yeah that was a pretty intense arc. Toriko really shoulda stayed closer to adventure archaeology with food. The best fights were them trying to survive the crazy conditions certain items were in.

It sold like 25 million copies.

That's more than 99,9% of manga, seriously

Had an absolutely spectacular ending. That wedding chapter was actually really good.

>despite being rushed like hell by edditors, Shima still mangaged to end series better than Kishi, Kubo and Mashima.

>What went wrong?
it was never revealed that it takes place in hunter hunter world.
search your feelings, user. you know it to be true.

of course, thats because the other 3 are series that were forced to end in ways incredibly different from the way they envisioned at the beginning of the series, but you could tell from the very start that toriko would have an endless adventure ending, fitting to the series' tone and ideas.

Shitty DBZ ripoff.

How the fuck?

I enjoyed reading it every week when it was releasing and did reread it a couple times, shame the end was rushed

did we ever find out who white was or what was in the golden can? drawing a massive blank

It wasn't half as bad as you guys say
It had its own fair share of problems and the pacing post-PAIR was hilariously broken but it was still a very fun read week to week, had some very solid arcs (Ice Hell, PAIR, Ozone Herb & Livebearer), entertaining characters (Acacia's sons, Teppei, Setsuno) and most importantly managed to end pretty much all of his plot points in a satisfying manner

It's clearly not as offensive as other shonens like Bleach and Fairy Tail so I don't get why it gets so much flack honestly

The peak of the series was the Cooking Fighting Festival.

This. He salvaged that ending hard and despite the previous chapters being rushed it was a good sendoff.

>they captured most of the Acacia's course offscreen
>GOD just appears randomly out of the ground
like what the hell

Yeah, it was really obvious he needed to wrap things up

>yeah, ANOTHER is such a hard dish to prepare it takes millions of years in the afterlife to be able to get its full effect
>actually never mind komatsu's cook plot armor just does it instantly

I pretend it ended after Century Soup.

favorite arcs?

But Jewel Meat, Casino and Cola were better arcs.

>That end game rush
I dont think ive ever seen another series have such large power level jump.

it was some seafood that was all the prehistoric seafood inside a shell or osmething, was on toriko's full course

He went from a 50 nail punch to an infinite nail punch. Jesus Christ.

The most hilarious power up was Midora food luck denial or something like that in last chapters.

O my food luck literally. first half was decent but latterhalf powerlevels were full of shit.

Now I remember, he copied food luck from the opponent (Nitro I think). Truly surreal fight that was.

Were the rankings even that bad? seems like he was forced to end it for other reasons, manly muscle men are a thing of the past.

nitro was mistake. i thought he copied from that fake lady frozhe or something.

funny thing is he got the news of getting axed early but still went on for good 40+ chapters before it actually ends.

He copied it from Zonge at the end.
