Here's the subs in SRT form if anyone wants to make a .ass
I was trying to watch it on plex but the .pgs was making it transcode so you should be able to direct play with these.
Of course. How could you even doubt it?
is it worth watching?
Didnt even cross my mind
Absolutely, it's visually amazing and the narrative is simple but rich with emotion and thoughtful themes. I'd want to watch it again in a theater though.
Mitsuha is the cutest, so yes. Shame if you didn't catch it in theaters
I enjoyed it. It looked beautiful and the OST is breddy gud.
...
>musubi
>not shit
>read spoilers from the side novel
>Mitsuha's dad is reminded of his dead wife every time he looks at Mitsuha who is a near spitting image of her
>Every scene the two are together they're getting angry at one another
Man he was a dick but that must be psychological torture
This is a smile that transcends happiness.
More info from the novel, please.
Shinkai truly is a hero to christmas cakes everywhere
It gets worse for the dad in the spinoff. He always thought he was in control of his life in deciding to abandon the Miyamizus and doing some actual good for the town by becoming the mayor, but upon Mitsuha coming to him for help, he realizes that him becoming the mayor (and probably his love for Futaba) has been predetermined by musubi all for the sake of saving everyone from the meteor. He really gets the short end of the stick.
He really does give hope in 22+ year-olds to get off the forever-alone spectrum and search for their soulmates while they are enjoying life. I actually feel much more social and hopeful just thinking back to this film.
nyaa.si
Is this a good release?
Man fuck that.
I just finished watching the movie, and I'm a bit unsatisfied with how we never get to see the "aftermath" of things. I was kind of hoping that Taki would say Sayaka and that guy's name and make them bewildered. Was kind of praying the novels would put out an epilogue but for some reasons Japs hate epilogues.
>Trying to do good by you're dead Waifu
>Ends up you're still a plaything of Mutsubi
Fate can be a dick
What happened to the teacher from his other work? She showed up a bit in this
You see her as one of the people escorting Sayaka off the school campus. Given that very few people died and that they were basically already at the evac site, she's probably fine. Maybe even caught up with the kid from Garden of Words.
headcanon
Yeah i was asking if she got together with the shoe guy
Kinda blueballed me there Shinkai
Is the 4K Blu-ray really just upscaled?
What about these newspaper articles? Did they have anything interesting in them?
Any good subs or only the same as the theater?
Really?
There are pics floating around?
>Kinda blueballed me there Shinkai
I mean, it is Shinkai.
...
>Mitsuha!Taki walks out of the bathroom sighing and embarrassed
She had fun with his boy parts didn't she?
Both main characters are likable and human-feeling, the story manages to be simple without being bland and emotional without being hamfisted, the animation is beautiful, and the music is good. I personally adored it.
Is this kino?
feels good man
Is almost certainly killed in the first timeline, most likely survived the second. There's hope for her yet.
Believe it or not, Teacher and Shoedude got the second best ending of Shinkai's main couples, because there's possibility. (Taki and Mitsuha were the luckiest.) The man has got a mad boner for depressing-as-hell endings, which is what made the ending of Your Name so surprising for me.
Yeah, pretty sure he does it intentionally seeing how, at least I remember so, he partially mirrors 5cm' s so I was already starting to get assblasted.
*5cm's ending
I haven't read that section of the LN yet but I found Yotsuha's bodyswap to be stupid. Why did she bodyswap with a random ancestor? Where is the musubi?
Maybe it's to show that the Miyamizus took their forewarning of the meteor to be serious, until some accidentally burned the records.
Yeah, yeesh. I'm still not man enough to rewatch 5cm.
But where is the musubi?
And it makes no sense to go backwards. Mitsuha going forwards makes sense because if she went to a point after the comet hit then she could potentially learn about it and try to save the village, but going backwards even if they learn about the comet they won't know which comet because they won't know, they won't know the orbital period because they don't know.
It's worse than useless. All it did was give Yotsuha a chance to grope herself.
>Mitsuha gets to find her bodyswapper within her lifetime and develop a beautiful bond as soulmates
>but Yotsuba never will.
There's other questions it raises.
Were all the previous body swaps in the Miyamizu family because they drank some of their own spit sake?
Then how did Mitsuha and Taki's body swaps happen when it was just the cord linking them?
Were they all one off events, like Yotsuha's, instead of month long like Mitsuha's?
>Yotsuba
I fucked up.
I watched 5cm and Your Name back-to-back. It was quite the experience.
I don't think the bodyswaps happen solely because of the spit-sake drinking per-say. Mitsuha made a wish that triggered the bodyswapping, after all. The main conditions for the swap is that one person has to be a Miyamizu descendant while the other can be from a different time than the former. Perhaps by drinking her own sake, Yotsuha connected with someone who shared her DNA, which can only lead to the past instead of the future because at that point no one else shares her spit.
These are just my two cents, so I'm very likely wrong.
>Mitsuha made a wish that triggered the bodyswapping, after all.
Na, she had bodyswapped before the wish.
We saw Taki's side of the first bodyswap before she made the wish, we didn't see Mitsuha's side (remember Tak's father telling him to go to school even if he is late).
She also had a vague memory of it while at school after Taki's day in her.
Maybe I'll try that. Did Your Name help you shake the depression that 5cm likely induced?
I guess I'm lost for ideas then. I still need to refigure why Taki was chosen.
It made the ending that much more satisfying.
Timetravel fuckery.
He had the cord when she was swapped in his body, because she eventually gave him her cord three years before hand.
It's one of those time travel paradoxes, happens often in time travel stories.
>Taki (Left)
>hair done up properly
Maybe he practiced.
>Yeah, pretty sure he does it intentionally seeing how, at least I remember so, he partially mirrors 5cm' s
There was an interview where he admits this.
What's a BD?

DELETE THIS
Are you new here?
No I'm just stupid
my man Taki got ALOTTA shirts yo
Maybe I really overhyped this for myself, with the mal rating and normalfags raving about it, but it seemed just ok.
There are two ways to answer this, really.
One is the "simple" answer, which just takes everything at face value and doesn't really bother with analysis. That answer is "it could have happened to anyone of that age; whoever it happened to would have become the protagonist, ergo the fact that it happened to Taki made him the protagonist".
The second answer is "he was the likeliest to be able to take the steps required to help Mitsuha save the village".
Let's consider Taki for a bit.
>He's pretty damn confident.
>He's pretty hot-headed and easily agitated, as indicated by his boss, his friends, and his early interactions with Mitsuha.
>He's diligent and hard-working, as indicated by his dedication to his work and his willingness to go the extra mile to build or create fun things for Mitsuha's friends - despite not being the one to stand to benefit from the in the long run.
>He's helpful and loyal, as he makes a point to make Mitsuha stand up for herself when her classmates are whispering about her due to her father's shenanigans. He also gives Mitsuha's grandmother aid in traveling despite having no real connection to her.
>He's extremely dedicated and determined, as indicated by the arguably unreasonable lengths that he goes to to track down Mitsuha after their connection is severed.
These are all desirable traits for somebody who was to be Mitsuha's "counterpart". Mitsuha, among other things, is lacks self-confidence when not with people that she is comfortable with.
It could be believed that Taki was "chosen" by fate, or the god behind the ritual, because he would be able to help Mitsuha. A timid or apathetic person would not be able to help Mitsuha, as they would have either lacked the initiative to "stand up for her" while in her body, or wouldn't have cared to track her down after their connection was severed.
The answer, then, would be "Taki was chosen because he was right one for the job."
...Or a stable time loop.
I saw it far too many times in theaters, and I too really want to rewatch it in theaters, watching it on a small monitor just isn't the same.
Think I'll go for a spin, then. Thanks for the rec, user.
Are these not translated? Theatre subs had translations for headlines and stuff.
At the scene with them on the bridge in winter, I yelled "Don't you fucking dare" at the screen (at home). I heard some people walked out of the theatre at that scene.
How bad are the official subs? I want to watch it again and show it to my family but I'd rather wait if someone's doing them.
They were translated in the version I watched. The headlines were questioning how "he knew" that Tiamat split and destroy Itomori, questioned his "hidden motives", and basically implied that he must have known in advance but didn't share the info until right before due to some shadowy agenda.
>...Or a stable time loop.
Stable time loops can be paradoxes, especially in this case if the cord is the reason why she body swapped with Taki.
Taki only gets the cord because body swapping with him leads her to go to Tokyo where she meets him three years before HE experienced body swapping with her.
She body swaps with him -> He gets the cord -> She body swaps with him
It's a loop that you can't find your way into.
Now that's not to say that it wasn't just the god that was picking it, like you said, picking someone suitable for the job, but it isn't really defined in such a way that you can point to a definitive answer. I feel, though, that considering the major theme of musubi, and the cord being shown as a link between them (when she hands it to him, when they are running past each other on top of the mountain) that the cord is the connection that makes THEM body swap.
>I heard some people walked out of the theatre at that scene.
some dumbasses and/or liars
>why ?

I was too deep in despair to be angry, man. I was leaning forward, hands clasped, praying "Please... please... please..." Even after they walked by each other, I thought "Fucking Shinkai loves his bittersweet endings, but there's still a chance."
Do you know how happy I was to see the ending turn out the way it did? Actually, fuck that question, you probably know exactly how happy I was.
>I heard some people walked out of the theatre at that scene.
Fucking hell, for real? I feel so bad for them. They should've stuck through to the ending, but fuck.
They're ass. Just wait. I'm waiting. I'd like to show it to my family, too.
>Fucking hell, for real? I feel so bad for them. They should've stuck through to the ending, but fuck.
I bet they went back and saw it again after hearing about the ending from other people.
>you probably know exactly how happy I was.
Yes.
Ah, fudge. Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as saying that you were wrong and that the time loop wasn't a paradox. "...Or a stable time loop." was meant to be an add-on to what I said; basically, quoting you, then saying "...Or what he said." I didn't have much more room to clarify, as I'd just hit the character limit.
And that's a very viable interpretation. I hadn't actually considered it myself, but it makes as much sense and is arguably more fitting. As you said, it can't really be "determined", but what's the fun of getting all that stuff spoonfed to us? Let's theorize and think about it.
I don't want to sound like a know-it-all asshole but I saw what Shinkai was playing at a mile away with all the references to his older stuff, and how self-conscious it obviously was, I was pretty sure the whole way that he was going to pull the trigger this time.
My mistake.
>but what's the fun of getting all that stuff spoonfed to us? Let's theorize and think about it.
I fully agree.
>Ultra HD
4K content incoming?
Good for you. By the train scene I had already assumed it was going to be open-ended.
The train scene made me happy.
If you paid attention as the beginning then it would probably have been more obvious that they would have a meeting at the end.
Starting the movie with "there's someone I am searching for. Some unique person I have to find" and just covering the "why" they have that feeling and not having them meet would have been worse than anything he had done before.
From a pure storytelling standpoint it would have been dumb.
Depends how it is protected.
Anime BDs are usually use basic protection measures. They don't really go out of their way to prevent ripping like other releases do. But BD standards have a minimum encryption standard so it will depend on what has been compromised.
Right, yeah, it would've been a thematic extension to his previous work as opposed to a resolution.
>that look of recognition
>Mitsuha's scream
>them dashing through the train station
>Nandemonaiya playing
10/10 scene. Absolutely beautiful.
the music cues were so smartly done
>Not shitposting in your name general while watching the movie a few months ago
The first few weeks of those threads were great.
Took my friend to see it with me on my second rewatch. He hadn't seen any Shinkai works up until then and only knew the memes, but he fucking loved Your Name.
>Phone out in theater
RREEEEEEEE
I was thinking " He wouldn't pull this shit again, would he?" and then smiling.
I only noticed the 5cm's one cause it was still fresh in my mind, and as I watched few of his works I was in doubt.
>tfw you watched it dubbed
In italian
At least this time I won't suffer through an awkward sounding script.
I remember you fuckboy
Is this movie worth watching?
I was in the back row, user.
Hello, friend.
how are the english subs?
>she has two left hands
The nice thing about the movie ending like it did is that it leaves it open for each viewer to make up their own epilogue. Did they remember everything right there on the stairs? Did it take a while? Did they have to retrace their steps first? Did they never really remember? Did they get together? Did it last? I kind of like being left to answer these questions on my own.
does the super deluxe bd have any extra content?
The size of the monitor isn't the problem for me, the audio is. My headphones can't replicate the feel in my gut when the meteor hits.
