It's very apparent that the author had foreshadowed Erinas rough linage and progressively had her warming up to Soma before Azami first appeared leading up to this arc for her defrosting. Well it's not like the author just came up with it on the spot. Yuto obviously had this in mind because of how many events accumulates together since the beginning of the series/ oneshot, she's his most favorite character, etc. But the main reason why this arc is boring to you and many others is because of the pacing. Yuto is obviously taking his time with this arc which is why it's dragged on for too long (2+ years as of now) but because of his actions yes the rankings tanked so much but the quality of his writing leading to particular events/ cooking matches were well explained but once again it dragged on especially the cooking matches which made it boring for many but at least they were thoroughly written and the wins/ loses were believable and not BS

The ketchup just gave Soma's dish an extra boost to the flavor which were from fresh tomatoes gardened by the Polar Star which you know is top of the line meaning it wasn't just some ordinary ketchup. Also a big part of Soma winning was due to the fact that Eizan wasn't prepared and wasn't going all out, that's the main reason why Soma won

Also, speedreader, the tomatoes didn't come from the dorm. The idea to use tomatoes, which is an unconventional idea, came from experimenting with his friends in the dorm, because that was the only way he could convince the judges to not vote for Eizan anyway. He had to prove to them that the dorm had worth, by providing experiences that brought him to make a superior dish.
That's not an asspull, that's a decent way to write the character out of a seemingly impossible situation. Not that the manga's writing is top tier or anything mind you, but this wasn't an asspull.

Dude the purpose of the special ketchup was suppose to send a message to Central that the dorm they're about to close isn't some dead weight but even if he didn't use ketchup he would've won anyways because like I said Eizan wasn't serious nor was he prepared which gave Soma a huge advantage

To clarify the Soma vs. Nene match. The reason why Soma won was due to the fact that Nene follows a tradition which requires her to make her soba a certain way while Soma's soba was made with more depth and flavor which adapted to the temperature while Nene was stuck with her soba that didn't adapt at all. Overall Soma only won against Nene because she had 2 disadvantages; the temperature and her tradition she's obligated to follow, without those disadvantages Nene would've most certainly won.

This is what I find rather implausible with that match. Nene who has spent years perfecting to make and cook soba has no idea how to adapt with the change of temperature. Sure, she has a tradition to follow but that doesn't mean she should be limited to that. She can't be considered a soba master or even specialized as one if she hasn't tried other methods of making soba. It simply doesn't add up and result feels like a cop out.

It's kinda weird that the OVA builds up Momo so much, when she doesn't so shit for the next >100 chapters.

I'm not sure how this ends without Soma and Erina beating Eishi and Rindou, and not sure how the fuck that ends without any semblance of skill progression getting chucked out the window

I think this series just has a serious case of weekly manga syndrome, where the artist doesn't plan ahead enough and ends up trapping themself in a writing corner with no way to get out that doesn't involve some kind of asspull. It happens a bit too often, though that's kind of to be expected of a medium that has the story being crafted one little bit at a time with no chance for changing earlier things to accommodate new revelations/characters/etc.

The variation of thickness in the stroke and colors of the leaf are quite pleasant, also the bleeding of the color outside of the lines gives it a little playfulness and authenticity, it'd say he did a good job.

I hope we get to see him cook at some point, or learn some backstory. Based on how old the academy is and his age, he's probably the second or third director, so it'd be interesting to see what kind of upbringing he had.

If you didn't realize/ forgotten, this entire Azami arc has so much revelations revealed than before Azami first showed up which is pretty hard to accumulate from all the new characters introduced and from their own motives which could easily be boring if you don't pay attention and add up events to another
