Not enough info to know for sure, but when analyzing a past event, I like to ask "who benefited?".
Let's see:
- Afghanistan was turned into a mega heroin factory near Russia's border, damaging Russian population
- US moved its forces to ME, billions were spent on military hardware, significantly benefiting all the military companies and those who hold their stocks
- new surveillance laws were passed allowing them to spy on anyone, which benefits the ruling elite / swamp
- Iraq was destroyed, many of its officers fired and with the help of certain rich arab states formed ISIS that were used primarly against Assad - these happenings benefit Israel, Saudi Arabia (Sunnis vs Shites), Turkey, US, EU (pipeline to EU from the likes of Qatar, replacing Russia)
So, many benefited from it, including the US elite, which makes me believe that something more was involved than just Bin Laden.
