Tsutomu "The Kubo" Nihei

WHERE THE BACKGROUNDS AT

YOU SAID THERE WOULD BE BACKGROUNDS

Thanks.

wave, listen to me when?

This is much better than Blame, thanks.

jesus man did he lose all his money trying to get sidonia animated.

why does this series look so garbage

>How many responses do you think I'm gonna get hahaha?

It's true and you know it.

Black ink is expensive

REEEEEEEE

He got really lazy.

He used up his entire lifetime allotment of black ink.

Fuck, why are all these .cbz files corrupted?

Dumping to drown out the whiners.

Nope, after the trainwreck Sidonia ending I can't read Nihei any more.

...

Sidonia was a trainwreck from the very start

gombo breker

Sidonia started strong, the middle was great, then the forced romance killed it.

These faces feel so out of place for a Nihei manga

Done.

So when they die the code goes back into it's container and can get reused again.

>Faggots crying about no backgrounds
>There's literally a background in every single panel of any indoor scene

Muh black ink doesn't make something more of or less of a background.

So this is outer space Kamen Rider Black RX?

Thanks user, you the best

[lying intensifies]

Nihei's gone waifu loopy in his old age probably due to no irl sex, just like Miura.

This is Gigantomakhia tier, but not in art quality but rather a bizarre refocusing of his work on trivial waifu crap.

Same thing happened to the Alita/LastOrder guy who eventually descended from god tier artwork into simplistic one

and don't even get me started on Shirow

Thank you user.

So is the world of Aposimz covered in snow? I still can't figure it out.

I haven't been following this story closely so if it was obvious on any pages I missed it

Shirou lost his life's work in the earthquake.

An exception isn't a rule. And I figured it was obvious the subject was this particular chapter? If you want to accuse people of lying then it's a lie to say there are no backgrounds in this chapter or in any chapter of Aposimz.

Whether or not you like the aesthetic Nihei's chosen to go with is not a testament of his skill or an indication he's gotten lazy, they're assumptions based on bitterness and bias. This whining about his art every fucking thread is getting tiresome.

>So is the world of Aposimz covered in snow?
Yes.

...

Yeah that's something I don't get. It's an aesthetic choice. He still puts ridiculous amounts of detail into things just like he always has.

The only problem I have is that everything kinda blends together a bit much sometimes, but it's not really a big deal to me.

Any links to the earlier chapters?

In the other threads you can find in the archive

It feels more like the lack of background is supposed to give off a feeling of the planet being rather barren and frozen.

There's plenty of background work inside of buildings or cities.

This. Contrast level does not equal detail level. There's plenty of panels in BLAME! that are just amorphous blobs of black ink with the same amount of detail or less than what we see in some of the panels of APOSIMZ that people are bitching about. Nihei's art is his art, you're entitled to your opinion and you can dislike the aesthetic direction he's been heading in or disagree with the stylistic choices he makes, but if anything his skill has improved with time.

You can't argue that his faces don't look much better for one thing.

Also while I'm a huge fan of his earlier works, BLAME! especially, for the lavishly detailed, high contrast architecture and alien landscapes, if you are willing to look at the newer art objectively and give it a chance and some serious thought, he hasn't lost any of that. Sure there's less ink and the contrast is low. It can appear at first that the detail is all blown out, but what I see is efficiency of line, masterful use of negative space, and inspired minimalism. He's using the fewest possible lines to convey the same amount of detail.

>The only problem I have is that everything kinda blends together a bit much sometimes

I can agree with that. Because everything's frozen/white he uses the same gray tone most of the time. But the pages look just fine/clearer when you look at the whole thing rather than zoomed into a panel.

I imagine it's a lot easier on the eyes in book format.

>An exception isn't a rule.
It is when the basis of the rule is a lie.
>"There's literally a background in every single panel of any indoor scene"
Lie. Proven wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt.

>I figured it was obvious the subject was this particular chapter?
The statement remains a criminal lie.

>it's a lie to say there are no backgrounds in this chapter or in any chapter of Aposimz
Interesting deflection/strawman. Yet, a liar always lies.

>Whether or not you like the aesthetic Nihei's chosen to go with is not a testament of his skill or an indication he's gotten lazy, they're assumptions based on bitterness and bias.
Not an intelligible or correct English sentence or phrase. You are, likely, not a native English speaker.

>This whining about his art every fucking thread is getting tiresome.
Then fuck off.

(cont.)

Also it IS a fucking barren, frozen wasteland snow world, so the minimal, washed out style really fits.

Is part of it a matter of being able to create the same output of work with less intensive and time consuming effort? Sure, probably. I'm not such an idealistic Nihei dick-sucker that I can't see that that's probably a factor, but so what?

It fits the setting and has its own merits. Knowing what you can leave out and still get the image or idea you want to convey across is as much of a skill if not more than the sort of obsessive focus it takes to put in every little detail in every panel. He's trying out just suggesting those details with as much conservation of actual rendering of them as possible. It's interesting.

Why don't you fuck off? You're clearly not enjoying yourself so why are you even here?

I exist to dispel lies.

Are you that chuuni shitposter who likes to post about how much Nihei deserves hate?

>muh esl

Move along.

You seem to have the false impression that only one person dislikes the current works of Tsutomu Nihei. Your impression is wrong.

I did not argue nor imply that the poster to whom I was replying was an "esl".

>You are, likely, not a native English speaker.

I see people complain about Shirou but what happened with him? I never followed his non GitS stuff.

This does not imply a secondary nature. If the writer has learned English as a third or a fourth language, the quality of their writing would not likely be markedly different from that of a secondary learner. I do not seek to mark my statements with undue implications.

He used to draw cool scifi settings then he lost everything and only draws stoyless porn with awful CG models now.
