You still worship a jewish conner

roll

>implying Jesus was a sandnigger

You got Bl. Anne of Saint Bartholomew!
Some info on her:

>catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=5800
>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_of_Saint_Bartholomew

The jews hated him because he was so based, you are falling for jewish trickery if you hate jesus. Don't think he is the son of god either, that's also jewish trickery

I should change the name of that, thatis Apostle John BY the Artist Crivelli

What happens when you die according to the Bible? Is it just a metaphor of something, or is there really a Heaven?

>Abba Pambo asked Abba Anthony, "What ought I do?" and the old man said to him, "Do not trust in your own righteousness and do not worry about the past, but control your toungue and stomach."

>He also said, "Some have afflicted their bodies by asceticism, but they lack discernment, and so they are far from God."

>Abba Anthony once said, "A time is coming when men will go mad, and when they see someone who is not mad, they will attack him saying, 'You are not mad, you are not like us."

>Don't think he is the son of god either, that's also jewish trickery
I think you might be misinformed. He was a Judahite, not a modern jew. The pharisees were the shitty Judahites while the good ones accepted Christ as the Son of God. It took me a while to figure this out and really fucked with my head for a few days.

That being said, the modern jews ARE still practicing the erroneous ways of the pharisees and are their evil spiritual children.

reposting from last bread

I'm agnostic and I believe religion is good for society and I would like to take part in its community but I can't believe in the supernatural. I can believe in God, but I can't believe in the divinity of Jesus.

What do

If God is real why can't he give his son cheat codes?

>I can't believe in the divinity of Jesus.
Why not?

Can someone give me some recommendations to understand Mariology?

Recently in particular I was disturbed in my devotion to Mary to read in my Catechism that there are to be no further revelations beyond what is already there in scripture, which makes me doubtful about the Marian apparitions.

God be with you user!

...

He had an extra life and decided to waste both, what a shame...

We only have written word as proof, I have a really hard time believing it. The strongest case I find is people willing to die for the truth.

I think God isn't really Christian, so to speak, but Christian worship is good enough for us.

I also don't mean to be antagonistic, I'm genuinely interested and would like to learn more.

Perhaps you guys can tell me how you started to believe?

Bumping, how's everyone today

Just happy, don't know why.

Tomorrow will be my first day fasting, lads.

Bless me father, for I have sinned.

>Come and discuss Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, and the Church He established!
This is embarrassing.

roll

I know you had said you disbelieve written word, but don't you find it strange, how Jesus is pointed towards in so significant chunk of OT, that was written at closest 200 years before (with most books written around VIII to VI century before Christ)?
See Epistle to Hebrews for most proofs of this.
I find it really hard to believe that Apostles could fabricate life of Jesus to fit with OT so well. And since no one in OT was aware that Jesus would exist...
And what for? As you've said
>The strongest case I find is people willing to die for the truth.
If it was a lie, scam for money like scientology or other sects, they wouldn't be willing to die for it.
St. Peter wouldn't be a martyr.
>how you started to believe?
That's a tricky question.
I was raised as a Catholic, but it was very shallow religiousness. I dropped religion in middle school, became an agnostic.
But, recently I became more and more religious. First semi-prot (because of Francis, and partially because of memes like "Remember 200 billion proddie Holocaust"), then a catholic again.
All in all, I view Faith as the grace from God. Without divine help, human can never hope to comprehend the divine. And He, God, bestows that grace upon whom He desires and I can give you no assurance what He will do, but...
Humbleness, I believe is key. Do not be prideful and tell to yourself "There is no God, because I don't see him.", but "I cannot see God, but I cannot see many other things that are true." Admit that you lack knowledge and God, I think, will grant you what you need.

What's the punishment for masturbation?

Could you pick a saint for me as well?

Also, Sup Forums's opinion on diabolical possession and exorcism? Does it (still) happen or is it more a fanfiction thing?

Stop playing church get right with GOD

youtu.be/mkuRqZ-SssI

St. Thomas Aquinas. You can't disprove anything he says. Theres a whole book about the incarnation of the Logos. Also a book about the Holy Trinity. It's obligatory to have a grasp of these

Literally hell unless you repent and confess.

So anyone who believes in Jesus is accepted by God? What if they believe the wrong things about Jesus, like Mormons who have some weird belief of him?

What about in the physical world? Chopping off the hands?

And what if I don't want to say that I masturbate to a 70 year old man?

How do we know Jesus isn't a false prophet?

Nothing.
Then it means you don't love God enough to bear a bit of embarrassment. Also the priests won't give a damn, he's probably heard worse things.

Because you're not supposed to test God. He rose from the dead, did he not?

Did he? Have you seen it?

What does the priest actually say in a confession? Does he give personal advice or just quote the bible verses?

I haven't. But the 12 disciples did go to death because they all claimed Jesus rose from the dead.

oh fuck, here are the fucking meme flags fucking up everything

gimme a saint too and god bless you

How do you know they were martyred?

It is a more or less standard procedure. After telling him your sins he says something like this:
>God, the Father of mercies, through the death and resurrection of his Son has reconciled the world to himself and sent the Holy Spirit among us for the forgiveness of sins; through the ministry of the Church may God give you pardon and peace, and I absolve you from your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Before that he may give you some advice or commentary, yes.

I guess I don't.

Interesting. I doubt they really want to hear about that shit though. Also, don't priest occasionally masturbate too? Can men really completely give up on their sexual drive, does it eventually go away?

So you have no proof that Jesus rose from the dead? And you have no proof how any of the Apostles died? You have no idea who these people are, that wrote your holy book, whose words you cherish more than your own life?
Then why do you believe?

Catholicism is an orthodox heresy.

The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus. Protestants are so cringe. Notice Martin Luther wasn't mentioned on this graphic? gee...I wonder why? /s

I'm not much of a believer, I'm just saying what I've been told. But if you really think about it, you don't really know that Plato or Socrates existed and actually said what they are credited for saying. Some people even believe that Shakespeare was not a real person, but a character written by a forgotten author. Tell me something user, what do you KNOW exactly?

(((We))) only know about the six gorillion

Thank you, I will read further into this.

>I'm not much of a believer, I'm just saying what I've been told.
I see
>you don't really know that Plato or Socrates existed and actually said what they are credited for saying
Do I circle my life around the sayings and deeds of Plato and treat it like the absolute truth?
>what do you KNOW exactly
I know that I am. That's pretty spectacular if you ask me.

>I know that I am.
You got me there, well done.

Have I told you about the Holocaust today yet?

Hi Protestant fag here, I respect you lot to the bone. But can some one please explain how a man, elected by other men has any holy legitimacy to be the vicar of Christ himself?

>pic unrelated

>... immediately after death the eternal destiny of each separated soul is decided by the just judgment of God. Although there has been no formal definition on this point, the dogma is clearly implied in the Union Decree of Eugene IV (1439), which declares that souls quitting their bodies in a state of grace, but in need of purification, are cleansed in Purgatory, whereas souls that are perfectly pure are at once admitted to the beatific vision of the Godhead (ipsum Deum unum et trinum), and those who depart in actual mortal sin, or merely with original sin, are at once consigned to eternal punishment, the quality of which corresponds to their sin (poens tamen disparibus) (Denzinger,- "Enchiridion", ed. 10, n. 693-old ed., n. 588). The doctrine is also in the profession of faith of Michael Palwologus in 1274 (Denz., "Ench.", ed. 10, n. 464-old ed., n. 387), in the Bull "Benedictus Deus" of Benedict XII, in 1336 (Denz., "Ench.", ed. 10, n. 530-old ed., n. 456), in the profession of faith of Gregory XIII (Denz., "Ench. ', ed. 10, n. 1084-old ed., n. 870), and of Benedict XIV (ibid., n. 1468-old ed., n. 875).

Well, basically that's true, but not necessarily accurate. Mortal sin requires more than the act itself, namely knowledge and full participation in the act. In some cases masturbation may be a psychological problem or a compulson which would mean it's not a mortal sin for the individual, but in that case the individual has to seek help and therapy.

Masturbation is such a common sin a 70-year-old priest has heard it in confession thousands upon thousands of times. In any case, the confession is not about whether the priest is thin, fat, curly-haired, bald, 30 or 80, it's about the priest being merely an instrument of the divine in hearing the confession and conveying absolution (and giving penance).

Happy Fat Tuesday everybody

Can I masturbate every day, hook up with girls, have multiple girlfriends, have anal sex with them, then find my waifu, get engaged and then confess my sins to a priest, then get married and live a sin free life from then on? Is it not the easiest to just ditch all my sins in one go?

confession requires one to be truly remorseful to be forgiven.
Treating it as a get out of jail free card that you can cash in after a life of sin which you engaged in under the assumption you can get forgiveness later goes against the notion of being remorseful for it

Protestants don't have such function? How is he elected?

What if I genuinely believe that I've done wrong and try to make up for it by being a good and faithful husband and father?

Right now, I don't think I'm ready to be forgiven. I don't really believe it.

If your truly remorseful for it, then yes, you can be forgiven.
May I ask why you say "I don't think I'm ready to be forgiven. I don't really believe it."

Receiving absolution requires genuine repentance. So it doesn't really make all that much sense to look at it in a calculating way. Also, a lot of people go to confession regularly to stay on the straight and narrow and not marinate in their mortal sins.

If you live your life on the fast lane, just remember any day could be your last. Prioritizing carnal desires is not a good option whether in terms of your eternal destiny or your happiness in this life. Yes, hypothetically, you COULD postpone virtue and life choices that are in accordance with God's will, but it isn't wise. Every act of yours molds you in many ways, in terms of habits, in the ways you think and feel, the way you orientate in the world, and so forth. It's dangerous to play with fire because you're basically solidifying your into sin. Sin feeds on sin, and nothing is ever enough because there is no real fulfillment in it. It's not that easy to just snap out of it. You'll keep postponing, and at the same time you wallow in it and keep getting dragged deeper and deeper into sin. If you're deep in sin, it can become difficult to find the humility to repent later as it's always going to be tempting to reject God altogether. Virtue tends to require formation of your soul over a longer period of time, though some people may have a conversion of the heart in a very sudden way. I would say my conversion of the heart took years, maybe at least three to five years, and then I just became aware of how I had changed.

So if you live in sin, try to at least spend a little bit of time regularly on reading articles and books teaching sound doctrine or listening to apologists. Reject the desert god. He is vain, spiteful and evil.

I'm not particularly religious. I think Christianity is good, but my family was never really Christian so it's lost to me. If I confessed my sins it wouldn't be genuine. I need to figure things out before I can do it.

fair enough. I'll pray that God may guide you and bless you.
May I ask what exactly, if anything, keeps you from believing?

Israel is a shithole, and the world doesn't revolve around a jewish magician, not if we don't want it to.

I'm not educated enough. I want to read the bible as well as some other books about Christianity so that I know if I want to be a part of it. I need to make sure I know the rules. Nobody in my family is religious so I essentially have no idea what is acceptable and what is not. I agree with most of the rules; but no sex before marriage really gets me. That ship has sailed. And I want to go date more wahmen too.

Why do all Gnostics sound like Christians with daddy issues towards God?

>but no sex before marriage really gets me.
I'd suggest reading aquinas then, his explanation of natural law is where that comes from.
Also, statically speaking, both partners being virgins at marriage leads to the most successful and happy marriages.

Also, in terms of just general reading to know more, I'd suggest the church fathers, Augustine and Aquinas.
If there's any questions you'd like to ask I, and I'm sure other anons here, would be more than happy to help

The five solae of Protestantism make more logical sense to me but I am disgusted by how tolerant most Protestants are of degenerate lifestyles. The only gripe I have with the Catholic Church is how active they are with shilling for open borders.

Sometimes i cant tell if Sup Forums prots are or just trolling catholics and orthos. this is one of those times

What are you doing in Finland? you dont sound like a prot.

Apostolic succession. The Cardinals are the Chief successors of the apostles, so they pick someone to succeed peter

or Alicans, i beleive that Parliment has something to do with it....

Because they are
