Why didn't they just create a sword with a flavor text that allows them to go back to their world?

Because they are living in a database.

And? If the flavor text of items becomes real then what stops them from making super powerful shit with ridiculous flavor texts when some blacksmith chick already rewrote a flavor text anyways?

Because they are living in a database.

Why is that hard to understand?

>Because they are living in a database
Because it doesn't change the fact that they can just rewrite flavor texts and flavor texts become reality in their world. Even if it's not going home they could literally change it to anything from oneshotting bosses to spawning unlimited amounts of money.

user, you don't seem to understand.
There is no real world anymore, only the database.

That has literally nothing to do with what I said though.

THEYRE NOT REAL FUCKING PEOPLE MOTHERFUCKER.
THE BODIES ARE GONE, KAPUT, DEAD.
THERES NO GOING BACK.

The flavor text on items becomes real.
They can rewrite the flavor text on items.

Why don't they just make items that can oneshot bosses or give them unlimited amounts of gold?

How is it releavnt for this to still have their real bodies?

cost value

>all the thirsty girls are lolis

What?

Item crafting has a cost. Play a fucking video game.

cost value

Does anyone die enough times to the point where they're not the same person?

Yes.. and? They literally made an item for the assassin girl with custom flavor text already. It can't be that fucking expensive. Ontop of building giant fucking ships, or purchasing the whole world.

Then why do they talk about going back home in the series?

A weapon that 'kills anything in one shot' would be very fucking expensive, if the game even allows it to be created (what if someone else makes armor than can withstand any hit?).

And how do you come to that conclusion? Where was that ever mentioned? Are you sure you are not just making that shit up right now?

Have you ever played any rpg or game that requires you to craft items ever? If you haven't then no, good crafted items usually cost you an arm and a leg and if they were to ever have flavor text with something broken as shit with a unique effect then it'd be nearly impossible to get without an unbelievable amount of resources and time. Even if that shit was possible you could argue about causality and if they would even work or not forever. Finding an answer to why you ask retarded questions without thinking about it yourself beforehand is a lot easier and something anyone could do.

Look dude, they are living in a database. I don't think you seem to get that even though multiple people have pointed it out already.

They. Are. Living. In. A. Data. Base.

The world appears to be still somewhat tied to the game mechanics.
Typically in MMORPGs, the cost of ingredients needed to craft an item scales based on its power.

A good example of this is Shiroe's contract: a new custom item with a powerful game-changing effect, that required rare and expensive materials to make.

It should be immediately apparent that not all flavour text is possible, due to logical contradictions:
"A shield that can pierce even the sturdiest shield"
"A shield that can stop even the sharpest sword"

Will we ever find out who is the titular Log Horizon?

Have you ever played any rpg where you can actually buy the fucking guild hall and prevent people from having access to their own bank? Have you played any fucking rpg where the final boss of a raid has access to the entire gold in the fucking game and you can just grab it when you beat the raid? Have you ever played any fucking rpg where you can deactivate the city defense system because one of the NPCs went on a killing spree? Why the fuck are you applying regular video game rules to an anime that frequently shits on them? Why do you think that changing the flavor text of an item has any other rules to begin with when they never specifically stated it?

Why don't they just make a flavor text saying that their bodies are still fine?

It's a game. If certain things happen or change by the players then that is within the realm of possibilities within the game. Why is that so hard to understand?

wait a minute...
the data is all gone

You are making shit up. Post prove for your claims or shut the fuck up. They literally altered the flavor text of crafted items just fine. There is no reason to think it would be somehow impossible for other things to do unless they specifically say so.

>If certain things happen or change by the players then that is within the realm of possibilities within the game

They literally have a whole class of magic for shit like that. Remember when the faggot MC turned one of the NPCs into a regular adventurer? Yeah that seems to be within reason, but changing the flavor text? Literally impossible.

what's at the bottom of the database?

WOW WOW

Rudy being changed into adventurer required the highest tier ink and paper you dumb shit.

Because they don't have the level to craft ingredients to create such an item.

The cost to power ratio was still there though.
Purchasing the guild hall cost an astronomical amount of money.

>Why do you think that changing the flavor text of an item has any other rules to begin with when they never specifically stated it?
Because it is implied to not be easy. A lot of these people are very creative, so once the rumour that "flavour text" is more than just flavour text, people would begin experimenting. The lack of ridiculously OP reality changing custom built objects is strong evidence that they are either not possible, or very difficult to create.

Take the teleportation gates and fairy rings that they used to move around the world: If it were easy, someone would already have made a cheap hammer with the flavour text "Also fixes teleportation gates", and the network would be up and running again.

>Because it is implied to not be easy
Where and when? The only time they managed changing flavor text was that one time they gave the assassin a weapon. And they never said anything about difficulty. The weapon was also already crafted, the only thing that changed was the flavor text.

Can we actually talk about this show and what we liked about it?

Throughout the first Scrub Horizon arc, Rudy gets out leveled by Minori because of his status as an npc. In S2 when they set out on their own, Rudy manages to be the highest leveled among the scrubs.

It's the little things.

>Where and when? The only time they managed changing flavor text was that one time they gave the assassin a weapon. And they never said anything about difficulty. The weapon was also already crafted, the only thing that changed was the flavor text.
Did you just stop reading my post when you got to that line?

It wasn't *stated*. It was *implied*. Immediately following that incident, you can bet your ass that people would be experimenting like crazy with flavour text. But there's nothing about that in the books: No massive world changing effects, the gates are still broken, etc. Clearly it's not as simple as "set flavour text, get results".

Well, as far as mechanics go, what happened is that he gained a new subclass that gave him all the abilities of an adventurer.

As far as changing the flavor text goes, it didn't seem instant. Although it, really, after introducing something like that they should have shown someone experimenting with it (and it inevitably failing once they tried to do something that doesn't make sense).

The whole respawning meaning that human ethics are different, since death is no longer a big issue (until they find out about 'that') that torture and slavery is a more extreme worry.

But they are almost max level. Can't they just grind a bit more?

Even dedicated raiding guilds aren't max level yet.

We can probably assume that changing flavor text is an overskill and as such, has limitations on what it can and can't do depending on the user's level and items used in crafting.

Kazuhiko's katana is called 六道輪廻, which I guess should be translated as Saṃsāra (or Rokudou Rin'ne). It has the ability to permanently "kill" Adventurers, or prevent their revival. Kazuhiko believes it allows people to return to the real world, and has thus slain a good number of Adventurers, some under Indicus' orders I think. Quon is one of those people, eliminated because he's a "threat" to Theldesia for knowing too much about Elder Tale. As it turns out, Quon also predicted the appearance of the Genius since they were supposed to appear with Homesteading the Noosphere. He leaves some warning about the rest of the Genius before he dies, saying "Have a nice day" (in English).

While Kazuhiko is convinced that those who die by his blade will return to Earth safely, without memories of whatever occurred in Theldesia, Indicus disagrees. After all, his blade's flavor text doesn't guarantee they'll return to Earth, and to her, Earth is Tiryagyoni, the animal realm where it's a dog-eat-dog world.

What the fuck Kazuhiko

We already know what happens when adventurers die, they go to the moon were they have the choice to revive themselves at the cost of their memories.

So you're telling me there's a shit load of adventurers on the moon now?

Nope. His sword totally disables the revive mechanic. That meant no traveling to the moon. Now the main problem is that the sword is only "believed" to bring players back to Earth, and whatever flavor text is holds is no guarantee of that.

Another thing is that the name Rokudou Rin'ne and Indicus' opinion on the sword implies that players might not end up immediately on Earth. Instead, they might be transported in one of the remaining five realms: The God Realm, the Asura Realm, the Human Realm (where people should show up at), the Hungry Ghost Realm, and the Hell Realm.
