Will we ever see a 4k rip of anime movie of the century? Or will it always be in 3rd world 1080p?

Who cares? If someone scammed you into buying a 60" 4K TV and you have 20/20 vision, you have to sit within 2 feet of the screen to see a difference between 4K and 1080p. It's your own fault for wasting your money on a shitty gimmick because BIGGER NUMBERZ!
...
Was it even animated in 4k?
I've never heard of a 4k release for an anime. There's a lot of movies I'd love to see in 4k but I think they'd have to be remastered for that.
TRUE.
>He doesn't have a 400hz 21:9 16K monitor
It was, but apparently they don't have the know-how to rip it yet.
As in there's a 4k bluray release?
Yeah, that requires some pretty specific hardware to rip.
BTFO
The increase in resolution is not the exciting part about 4k, it's the increase in bit depth.
>Banana juice
I'm someone who knows nothing about ripping physical media. Care to explain how it's any different from ripping any other BD and why it takes different hardware?
>I've never heard of a 4k release for an anime.
Gundam Thunderbolt was done in 4k.
realorfake4k.com
So was that one FSS movie that we can NEVER EVER hope to watch, being the first and only cell animated 4k production ever in the history of mankind.
IIRC you need a BD drive capable of reading 128GB BDs
Good luck cracking AACS 2.0 which is baked in hardware - there is a reason why playing 4K discs on a PC requires latest Intel CPUs. Whoever released untouched discs under TERMINAL knows how to do this but it's a well kept secret which is going to kill future rips if made public and I think they're going to plug the hole eventually even if it doesn't leak.
We have most likely entered an era where you will need to come up with an exploit (which can be patched so you'll have to start all over again) to rip these discs, unlike the case with standard Bluray discs where a copy of AnyDVD HD sufficed so an average Joe could do this. I doubt there's going to be an universal solution.
But wait, who am I telling that, you'll probably handwave this like the rest of the retards here and tell me that piracy will always find a way. The output video can be captured via HDMI but it degrades the quality so it's not as good as the source.
to be honest that looks like shit anyway
Resolution isn't everything (assuming you are talking about Gothicmade). Thunderbolt is pretty gorgeous, but that's simply Bandai + Sunrise pulling their A-game.
Can't hope to match 君の名は, but they're not done as full-budget movies so, yeah.
Yeah, I was talking about Gothicmade, it looked pretty bad. Haven't seen Thunderbolt although I do want to. Don't know how Kimi no Na Wa looks, I've avoided reading too much about it or looking at screenshots (don't even know what the plot it about besides what's shown in the trailer). I'm watching it on theaters next week, though. Hopefully it will look good. I also watched Koe no Katachi and Kono Sekai no Katasumi Ni on theaters and both looked gorgeous and crisp, but I don't know what resolution is even used in theaters, so I don't know what to expect from KnNW on the big screen.
>but I don't know what resolution is even used in theaters
Depends on the theater's equipment. It's where all those fancy buzzwords come into play like IMAX, Dolby Cinema, etc.
Anyway, I just watched the BRip today with my home theater setup and it was gorgeously animated. Have fun next week, man!
Thanks, I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
>21:9
Truly pleb-level. Enjoy your pew-pew-pew games, knuckle-dragger. 16:10 is the only ratio for a true Gentleman.
>thunderbolt
But the new season looks like ass.
>But the new season looks like ass.
The new season is not done to the same standard at all, true.
The first one is still up there with Unicorn as the single best looking Gundam shows to be made.
This desu
>The first one is still up there with Unicorn as the single best looking Gundam shows to be made.
Not even fucking close also 0083 is light years ahead of both (Unicorn even has stock footage and bad CG and Thudnerbolt has a lot of poor quality shots)
Just record the video from the screen with a camera and upload it my man
I don't doubt what you're saying, but won't physical media in general be a dead letter before long? We're already near the point where people only buy BDs for the bonuses.
Is piracy really getting close to its end? Everything seemed so much easier only a couple years ago.
>Gothicmade looks like shit
What a laugh. Morons can't even tell the difference between something with 50 layers of filters slapped over it over something genuinely hand-drawn.
>16:10
Ew, looks non-cinematic as fuck.
How long until 4K finally becomes common
>Unicorn as the single best looking Gundam shows to be made
This is how I know you're retarded and have probably never seen a single pre-2000s anime.
Enjoy your shitty CGI.
Gothicmade was cel-animated? Also, maybe now that 4K home-video releases are actually happening it might get released outside of theaters.
it's drawn at such an awkward angle that it's not even on the background layer properly, it's just floating.
defend that you retard
>Gothicmade was cel-animated?
No. It was animated on paper with normal painted backgrounds. Even had to be vectorized. There was no CGI or filters used.
>it's drawn at such an awkward angle
It's called a "front shot", shit-for-brains.
>not even on the background layer properly
It's standing in front of the other robots and the perspective is clear as possible.
>defend that you retard
I can't defend your brain damage for thinking this looks better than what I posted.
we'd need a majority with gigabit internet, and I doubt that's gonna happen in america anytime soon
>It's standing in front of the other robots
How the fuck is it casting that shadow?
Light is coming from the side. They're in a hanger.
Do I have to explain the basics of lighting to you now? Are you that retarded?
>No. It was animated on paper with normal painted backgrounds. Even had to be vectorized. There was no CGI or filters used.
Cel animation is the traditional animation method, baka.
Regardless of where the light is coming from, an object with that shape won't cast a shadow like that.
There were no cels used. It was uploaded to a computer, upscaled by vectoring, colored with a computer software, and layered over a massive painted background.
Hand-drawn =/= cel-animated.
>comparing a stitch from a still, panning shot to a motion frame
Nigga
I want tosee Gothicmade so fucking badly. Nagano is hands down my favourite artist of all time for his FSS designs, the absolutely insane manga and almost all his other works. Such a fucking pity that we'll never be able to see it.
Unicorn is handsdown the best animated Gundam show to have ever existed, this is a fact. The best art direction and overall design however belongs to 0083 stardust memories. Unironically listening the steaming pile of shit that F91 was is utterly pathetic my friend.
Fuck yeah, /m/ is arguing about shaders
>an object with that shape won't cast a shadow like that.
I take it you don't go outside very often, or are running out of nitpicks after realizing your original criticisms are full of shit.
>stitch
It was animated like that. Sorry to disappoint you.
youtube.com
>Unicorn is handsdown the best animated Gundam show to have ever existed, this is a fact.
No, this is bait.
I'm not the original guy. I don't even watch Gundam. That shadow is just bullshit and you know it too.
sakugabooru.com
Hands down the best cut in Gundam, alongside the CCA brawl.
>people still excited about 4k
jokes on you losers, i'm saving up for paperthin color e-ink screens in 10 years
>I'm not the original guy.
Nobody cares.
>and you know it too
The only thing I know is that you're out of arguments. Very ironic that you're arguing about shading for a work that came from the era of cel-shaded animation.
Prove your claim. Provide examples. So far you've done none of that.
>Hands down the best cut in Gundam,
>No sense of weight
>limbs warp and stretch despite being a robot
>suddenly KARATE CHOPPU
Were you trying to prove a point?
>alongside the CCA brawl.
Nevermind, you're just retarded.
>Nobody cares.
I guess that means you're nobody.
>Prove your claim. Provide examples. So far you've done none of that.
Take a look at the fucking picture, the evidence is right there. It takes less than half a second to realize the shadow is off because one of the feet casts it into a different direction than the other one does.
Are you complaining about fucking squash and stretch in hand drawn animation?
What the fuck?
Also, why the fuck are you using still when we're talking about animation retard?
>I guess that means you're nobody.
I don't care if you originally posted it or not. It doesn't make the point you're defending any less retarded.
>one of the feet casts it into a different direction than the other one does
That's not the foot, that's its gun. How the hell did you get that confused?
Not only do you not understand shadows, you also don't know anything about basic anatomy. Fucking educate yourself you stupid piece of shit.
We can always assault 4k-containing trucks, find the ones we desire, and distribute them between ourselves
Or tank 4k economy with meme magic and get the prices very low
>That's not the foot, that's its gun. How the hell did you get that confused?
Okay, so I guess only one of the feet casts a shadow at all then, now THAT's a really fucking well done shadow.
>Are you complaining about fucking squash and stretch in hand drawn animation?
It's called "sense of weight". It's completely lacking in that regard. Go watch some Mitsuo Iso animation to know what I mean.
>Also, why the fuck are you using still when we're talking about animation retard?
Because if I posted that scene where Sazabi slashes its twin beam sabers in a circle I'd probably die laughing.
>4k
feels good man
sakugabooru.com
Not really in a place to say that whilst defending F91 mate.
It was still a still frame dude, and a stitch of one.
The leg going in and the hunch before the catapult was animated sure, but the one you posted was a hold pose, with detail meant to take multiple spaces of a single shot.
If I'm remembering right, the Sinanju and Jegan cut doesn't even have key pose frames.
It was a 2 second motion shot of Sinanju moving the Jegan infront of it, with the editors assuming the audience can connect the key pose from the previous and next cuts.
>Will we ever see a 4k rip of anime movie of the century?
No. Your name wasn't the anime movie of the century. Instead, the pinnacle of anime will come out on the day the last of us here dies. In 40k.
>I guess only one of the feet casts a shadow at all then
The light is off one on side. It doesn't shine evenly on the whole mech. Watch I love how the more you try to backpedal the more retarded your arguments become.
>Not really in a place to say that whilst defending F91 mate.
That's gorgeous compared to what we got in CCA.
>It was still a still frame dude, and a stitch of one.
It's a stitch, but the "model" in that scene was thoroughly animated with the same level of detail.
There is not a single piece of animation in Unicorn that has the same sense of weight and stays as on-model as anything in that entire scene in F91.
Stop confusing aesthetics and art with animation.
But I didn't mention aesthetic or art?
At most I was talking about editing as an aside
>Was it even animated in 4k?
It wasn't. The 4K BDs are upscaled.
IIRC 4k Blu-ray hasn't been cracked yet so you can't rip it.
Fucking this. I fucking hate this 4k meme.
It will find a way.
