>tfw haruka-yumenoato vanished, owner probably arrested
>tfw ugcity's owner went paranoid due to that situation and locked the forum

where the hell am I going to get my super secret raws now

Now that I have a good place to post it, I can ask here.

Basically what I have problems with is putting the furigana is a decent translation, because Kamachi does whatever he wants apparently.
This is how I translated the last speech bubble at first before I looked at the next page.

>Oriana looked for a point (written as Astronomical Observatory like the title. Looks like it's meant to be read as that though and written as point) to activate Peter's Cross

But when I saw Touma's reaction and the following text I'm not sure how I should write it anymore.
Should I rather use "Astronomical Observatory" or "Astronomical Observation" with point as footnote or the other way around. I think point as would be better in this case.

Then I can also use "written as point" in this second speech bubble here

Although that makes it a bit weird to translate and read

>tfw no 1600px WSM and 1400px WSJ

I don't care about magazines, I'm going to miss those tank scans

Public raws for shounen magazines will continue to get posted instantly anyway

Are we still getting digital rip scan after what happened last week?

New raws keep on being posted but I have no idea which site is one where the uploaders hang out

So what ripper works for Pixiv comic? ABe's illlustrating a manga on there and I want to save it for offline reading.

I'd like to work on kaze so nuke! But don't know a lick of japanese

Just MT and improvise, user!

How do you find interesting new stuff to pick up?

Search by author, publisher and imprint of things I like

It's just a matter of someone buying them, not like they're lost forever.

Link?

>tfw I actually got called by a translation company after dumping my CV in their inbox
Goodbye hobby translations, hello money.

What kind of CV do you need for that?

>It's just a matter of someone buying them, not like they're lost forever.

People may have gotten scared because the site just vanished and it's uncertain whether law enforcement obtained the site logs

Psst kid.
re-haruka.com

My certification of fluency, degree, and previous work done freelance. I also linked short stories I've written because I needed to fill out my CV and make it look like I'm a productive and educated member of society (everyone loves to be pretentious about readers and writers).

As if you'll get anywhere or get to work on what you want, but let us know what happens either way.

By looking, moron. It's not gonna magically appear before your eyes and get your attention.

What happened last week?

comic.pixiv.net/works/3707

major raw distribution site seems to have been raided and/or swallowed by the earth.

you read manga so by virtue you follow authors or magazines and go from there. not exactly rocket science

Fuck off, xPearse.

Thanks but I still miss ugcity, I feel like its users ain't coming back

Thanks.

Psst for you too, here's some history.
duchi.org/?p=6167

It looks like a massacre

why do translators do what they do?

What's the latest drama happening?

When's this life going to be over?

It's not that it's particularly difficult to understand or translate, but I have no idea what boxing terminology I should be using, or the correct way to say it in English.

Anyways Koyama Yuu is a beast.

Guy in the last thread a few days ago said he'd be interested in cleaning/typesetting this Matsumoto Leiji title for me. It's pretty cute desu.

?? From what i see, nothin has changed. They made another website.

It's always a Dempsey roll, straight, hook, or CROSS COUNTAH

Canon LiDE 220 or Epson Perfection V39? Or something else in the

I have the Canon LiDE 220 and it's alright for CCD scanner. A lot of raw providers use it.

Do you debind everything? I read the type of sensor it has will blur anything not in contact with the glass.

Yes I debind everything. You will need to do this regardless of what scanner you have. CIS scanners are better than CCD scanners but they are also much more expensive.
I own a CCD book scanner that works by having the platter go all the way to the side. In theory this means that books do not have be debound to be scanned. It's fine for western published books because the gutter in those books is wider. However it does not work for B5 doujin.
Give me a minute and I'll upload a comparison bewteen CCD and CIS sensors.

Waiting for my typesetters to do things.

What terminology are you unsure about?

Ditto, also...

>some gook contacts me
>"Hey can I have your raws and redraws so I can do it in indian? Redrawing is too hard."

I fucking hate people who try to piggy back off of my work just because they're fucking lazy.

Also I have the sensor names the wrong way round.
CCD - Charged Coupled Device
This works by using mirrors, rather like an SLR, to convey the image to a static sensor. They are larger, more expensive and usually slower to scan.
There is depth of field, this means that something doesn't need to be flat against the platter to get good quality scans.
CIS - Contact Image Sensor
This works by having the a row of sensors directly below the image. There is no depth of field, this means that anything not flat against the platter will blur.

Not condoning laziness, but I personally don't mind when groups ask for your PSDs. Scanlation should be a community of sharing, so you'd be saving another group time if you already have the work done.

>giving a fuck
What a dumbass. I scanlate so that EOPs can read shit, if I can help peasants from another language then that's great. I don't understand why you'd be mad over this unless you were some sort of autist.

>Goodbye hobby translations, hello money.

Hello losing passion and working on shit you don't like.

Small things like twist, roll, pivot, turn, etc. I'm sure they're basically the same, and I can give a pretty literal translation, but lacking any knowledge in boxing, I'm just worried it'll be obvious to those who actually do know a thing or two.

Any thoughts on the Perfection V39?

Every time. Every fucking time there are that guy who HAVE to post the raw before it fucking release. Couldn't you at least wait until it release not leak it too early?

Maybe, but, if the translation is actually good, nobody will mind, and you can gradually learn about boxing words as you go.

I box, ask away.

What the fuck? Are you a Jap?

I have no experience with it, so I can't offer an honest opinion.

Not really, but because of this incident, even the chink have to delay the release of raw magazine.

Any specific examples? Boxing terminology is very simple and is mostly the same in Japanese as they opt to use English terms. However, there are a few differences.

I might get one. I'll try to remember to post something about it if I do.

Nobody here cares about China.

That's what happens when you give scans early to speedscan faggots. Surprise, they release it early because they're speedscans and they have to beat out the competition for ad money.

"Strike with your elbow twisting for a fork!! As your fist follows a curve, raise your elbow and snap your wrist, punching as if you're hooking him!!
In this moment, your back and shoulders should be revolving with you, so use your other hand to protect your body and your chin!!"

Does that make sense?

>"Strike with your elbow twisting for a fork!
Change that to strike with your elbow on a 90 degree angle, the person talking is describing the motion for a hook I presume. the rest sounds fine.

Nothing. Feels good.

where is the CITY

i am rapidly becoming unglued from reality

where is the CITY
I want to know

Currently scanlating some shitty old doujins that just happen to hit my fetishes.
Mainly doing them just to gain a bit of experience and learn shit. I suck and I know it so I'm messing around in the shallow end of the pool, so to speak.
Going numb from having to typeset bland moaning over and over again.

For anyone here who has ever scanlated doujinshi, have you ever translated text-only doujin or doujin that contain text stories? Just curious if I'm the only one contemplating doing such a thing.

I'm still here user!

Uhhh, I just have to edit chapter 4 and reboot translation efforts.

Translating porn is mindnumbingly boring

I need a new and cool mouse, so nothing

>reboot translation efforts
What, are you guys missing a TL again? Or is it something else?

Uhh, I have several projects on my plate right now and I backseated it due to typesetter going out of town. So I need to finish everything first before I go back.

So you mean that CCD is better than CIS?

Do you guys have recs or are already full?

*take recs
I'm sorry.

It depends on what you want to use it for I think.

I mean, it's not like it hurts to request that something get worked on, but the reality is that most people already have a backlog they'd like to work on, and they already scanlate as much as they can/want to.
If you're really hung up on seeing something translated, my suggestion would be to ask specific groups that work in the same genres and/or be willing to participate in the work.

Through rss or comments? Because where I'm coming from with intentions for TL is slightly different from groups that would typically TL this.
> Shounen but female audience, Historical, mystery.

Well, scanning manga would be the main purpose.

>Through rss
What?

>Because where I'm coming from with intentions for TL is slightly different from groups that would typically TL this.
What?

> rss
A way to communicate with scanlation groups.
> Intentions
Meaning, the only groups I typically know of deal with other demographics or genres that are different from the one I listed for a particular series that I want TLed.

Depends what the request is. If it fits with a TL's taste, then maybe they'll take it up.

From what I've learned then, a CIS could be a cheaper buy, but you'll probably have to debind. Otherwise the parts near the spine might not be in contact with the glass and be blurry.
A CCD has some depth of field to it so you could possibly get away with bending the spine and pressing it down on the glass.
Although most comments I see say you should always debind anyway.
The two I mentioned earlier are both CIS and around $80 USD new.

Oh, you mean IRC?

Oh sorry, yeah.

You're that Kusuriyafag? You should commission someone to translate it if you want it done that badly.

Debinding isn't the issue, I'll definitely do that.
I meant more about pure scanning quality.
If I get more details and better results using CCD I'd opt to get that instead if I can find something not too expensive.
Thanks for the info.

No? But you mentioned the series at least. So commission?

At the resolution you'll be scanning at, there are more significant things to worry about, like how wide the unscanned edge will be or whether there are any "quality enhancements" you won't be able to turn off.

I thought doing that was painting a big target on your head for copyright violation suits.

Why don't you just make a pitch for it here and someone might respond if they're free.

More details sounds good at face value but I think all you end up doing is capturing the texture of the paper itself. Then it gets removed as part of the cleaning process doesn't it?
Maybe I'm wrong but I'm under the impression 300 dpi for grayscale and 600 dpi for color is sufficient for scanlation.

Chapter 2
my.mixtape.moe/mxnhen.zip
Chapter 3
my.mixtape.moe/qbzojy.zip

Chapter 1 was already done. Ironically, another adaptation of the series will occur in Sunday GX next month with another artist. Two publishers and two adaptations running at the same time.

You can just send a zipped file back to me on bato.to (@ "crywanking"), or post an upload in one of these threads (I'm sure I'll see it sometime). I'll proofread it and send more later if it works out!

For people that translate manga using tanks raw, how do you keep yourself motivated to work on something that happens once every 3~6 months?

What went wrong?

Everything I do, I do it for you.

Okay, what the fuck is that? Golem, be gone.

Because they're all the same thing or because what you're working on isn't good?
