Where were you when I was lonesome
Locked away in sleeping cold

...

...

I don't wanna swim the ocean
I don't wanna fight the tide

...

I've been waiting a few days for the BD confusion to settle down, is there an agreed upon torrent to use yet?

>The whole idea that someone was made just for you
I don't think that's what the movies are about at all.
There is love, and there is destiny, but the destiny isn't love, it's just an interaction that makes the plot interesting.
This is a stupid comparison, but it seems to me more about "arranged marriage can be work amazingly" than "there's someone special for you"

I don't wanna swim forever
When it's cold I'd like to die

Just get the big ass 25gb one. It'll only take a couple hours to download unless you live in a 3rd world country.

>reposting my photos
Why even? They weren't even particularly good photos.

Beatrice-raws (rev) has the most complete experience.
All the music CDs.
All the bonus content.
6.7GB encode.

>what had caught my interest so much is now a mystery to me
>why does the scenery of a town that no longer exists wring my heart so?

Good look at whats in the Blu-ray pack for anons still waiting on postage. Like me.

Cute.

for a moment it looked like mitsuha was dressed as a french maid.

how do i watch this

Download the commentary from second bonus disc in

I just finished watching it. God, I fucking hate this feeling of emptiness I tend to feel after movies or shows like these.

Start watching all the bonus content.

Literally feeling the same here. Can we hug?

Really cute.

Post more lewds, nerds

dank thanks

Like I said, it was more of a complaint about the idea of soulmates in general, not really aimed at the movie.
The movie connects the two mains through time travel shenanigans with the braided cord but it does heavily symbolize the red string of fate.
I'm just personally against that kind of theme. It wasn't the dealbreaker for me, but it did kind of suck a bit of my enjoyment out of the movie. It doesn't help that their romance didn't have proper set up and the characterization was pretty poor, so I couldn't exactly root for them easily.

i cried so much while watching this, not even sure why as it wasn't that sad.

I love it, they like "at this point I was thinking 'Taki, hurry and write it!'" which was exactly what I was thinking and probably what everyone was thinking.

Good call. Will do.

Gladly. I could definitely use a hug right now.

>Tfw Mitsuha is running into town with Sparkle playing.

There's such a thing as happy tears user. A story of two people who fight to be together, lose each other, and then find each other in the end can cause them.

If the blu-ray version is out now then what version did most people already watch?
It seemed bluray quality to me

>highest grossing animated movie of all time
>involves body-swapping and low tier corruption

Is it too much to ask for an animated series that tried something like this? Because I'd buy 100 blu-rays to make it possible

Mitsuha doesn't do lewd, she is the epitome of cute and pure

>the singing starts up again as she opens her hand

...

Plane rip.

Which was way below BD quality.

Mistuha's VA gasps here at the ring and Taki's VA says "Tsukasa".

So if there were any doubts left over.

what did you fellers think of the dub?

This movie would have been better without the insert songs.

>tfw spent last 2 days posting in Your Name threads
>all the HD screenshots, the Mitsuha reaction pics, and webms
>all the discussion about the film, the little details, the evoked emotions, and straightforward atmosphere

Waiting 2 months for these threads to come since the theater threads was worth it.

The interviewer comments that normally in a Shinkai movie you would expect this to be the ending, and Taki's VA comments that because you understand that you are so nervous.

I'm so jealous of the people who were lucky to see it in theaters.

what did she mean by this?

The guy from Radwimps on the left didn't realize that the previous scenes were Mitsuha's classmates, but everyone says Yotsuha's name when she appears.

are there good SSA subs for this yet? i got the succ release but can't stand the official subs

and this

Everybody loves the Yotsu.

Musubi, the local god, has been causing body swapping for centuries in order to line up events perfectly to save the town.

Pretty much everything was predetermined, setting up the right couples in the family and putting people in the right place at the right time.

If it ended here, I would never watch one of this guy's movies again.

>Pretty much everything was predetermined

Eh, considering that we literally saw a timeline in which the town was destroyed I wouldn't think it was nearly such a set in stone thing.

The Miamizu maidens all had bodyswap experiences, there's no indication of if they were all with people in different times, or even all with people in the future.

But Taki theorizes they were with people in the future like him. Like the god was linking them up with people in the future so that when a link finally happened past the comet's return they could do something to save his parishioners.

local god needed the power of love to save the town

Better not watch some of his other work then

The town would have to be destroyed for the town to be saved.

That was mainly due to complete unawareness of the meteor splitting and landing on the town (whoever thought it was a good idea to make a picture warning on the ceiling on a dark cave had a sick sense of humor).

The second time around, musubi brought in a person completely aware of the situation and voluntarily chooses to save the townspeople with what little resources and time is left. The thing to notice is the first timeline represents "strings broken/separated", while the second timeline is "strings reunited". Musubi is its own sick sense of humor too.

>(whoever thought it was a good idea to make a picture warning on the ceiling on a dark cave had a sick sense of humor).
That probably wasn't a warning, just a record of history.
It only becomes a warning once you realize that its a cyclic event, which they wouldn't have known at the time.

Guys, we won't have to wait much longer for good subs.

Word on the street is that Commie is working on it.

the dub is pretty enjoyable if you can't wait

Surprisingly, Yotsuha had the best dub voice.

Wait where are you getting this commentary from? I have the Beatrice release and I only have an audio commentary which seems more like a script read.

Have any stitches been posted yet? I'm pretty sure I spotted some stitch opportunities during the theater showing.

I got no stitches so far.

I didn't get a chance to see it in theaters and I wish like hell I had. Unfortunately the internet is the only place I can really talk about it because my friends are a bunch of normies who don't watch anime. I'm still pretty new to anime myself, but I loved the shit out of this movie and I was happy to shell out the money to buy it.

Did they give out different scenes at random in different boxes for the film frames?

yes

Nice quads. I already paid 3 tickets for 3 different screening locations and bought the official visual guide (which is totally worth even 2000 yen, btw), so I spent a fair share as it is. Unfortunately couldn't buy the BD, but I'm set to buy the Mitsuha scale depending on the paintjob, so here's to WonFes.

They do. You got a pretty sick one, nice.

2nd special disc. I dunno what it is called in Beatrice-raws release, or if it is even in there.

It's the Visual Commentary with the VAs and Radwimps.

Just finished watching this movie, absolutely beautiful.

The festival scene was really tense

>he got a good one
You bastard.

Lolihouse any good?

Any of you know where I can get good portuguese subtitles?

No.

What sort of stitches are you thinking of?

Eh, I'd hardly call that a rip-off. Kimi no na Wa was obviously influenced at least to some extent by Nijiro Hotaru - If you wanna go down that route there's much more about the movie you can attribute to that - time travel, for one. There's so much in common here I have a hard time thinking it wasn't a homage.

And hell, if you're talking Pakuri Nijiro Hotaru was basically Jiro Taniguchi's A Distant Neighborhood in anime film form. No idea is that original under the sun, and it's not a huge deal for directors to copy scenes they like from one another.

How come you can't buy the BD?

This is the only scene that comes to mind at the moment but I'm going to have to rewatch it again to spot some more.

Shipping costs a bitch where I am. I'm probably heading to nipponland for a trip later in the year, so I would absolutely pick up even the 4K set if I see it. Any chance the special editions will still be up for sale by late-year?

That's not the confirmation you want it to be.

Soon. When I finish typesetting.

I haven't watched it yet. How bad are the subs?

I've got no idea, but I can't imagine it'd be that hard to find it if you're going to be in Nipponland itself. It's way too popular domestically.

Have you been to Japan before? I've never been east of the UAE myself.

This is a fair statement.

The on-disc subs are the same ones they used for the US theatrical release. A few minor oddities but otherwise fine enough.

>tfw can't find the OST anywhere on youtube

Yeah, it'll likely still be available by then, and if not, at least I can try to venture around the locations that the scenes are based on, that's the next best thing.

Is there going to be an offical western release too that includes proper subs and the dub?

Another way to think about it is that Musubi owed the town because they moved its shrine far away after the original strike.

In 3-4 months. And they'll probably use the same subtitle track to save time.

Hold the fuck up, the Japs got a fucking IMAX release? Fucking hell and here I was thinking how lucky I was that the local art house theater played it

Have fun user. Near the staircase of the final scene there's a vending machine with a guide to where the other landmarks are. Sorry for the shitty picture I just wanted to post it anyway.

Yeah, it got bumped up to IMAX screens for a special run from January 13th to 26th earlier this year.

the dub i was watching had hardcoded subtitles that were pretty f*cking off

any more good webm scenes?

I wasn't here when the first webms popped up so I have no idea what's been done.

Do you think that was rotoscoped?

I loved that scene, some parts of japanese culture seem pretty cool

I thought it was CGI, but good CGI.

Just finished. Good to very good overall. Average characters and decent story.
Once again, the detailed backgrounds are the high point of his presentation.
He's improved on his storytelling considerably since 5cm, but not enough to warrant a rewatch from me other than looking at stills of the gorgeous backgrounds.
I agree. When he puts these in his films it really destroys whatever gravitas is present, sometimes almost comically.
