I accept Fatima, actually, and hold great anticipation towards the Consecration of Russia. I don't follow apparitions besides major stuff like Lourdes, Fatima, and Zeitoun though.
As for Protestants, it generally comes from Sola Scriptura and historically exaggerating Martin Luther's criticisms of Marian veneration. He knew the importance of veneration of Mary but was worried that the uneducated were taking it as worshipping Mary so petitioned for it to be curtailed. This became a graver and graver criticism as time went on in Protestant circles, to the point they do not understand what Catholics are even doing usually.

It can be a book club of sorts, where you read before and then discuss at the weekly meetings. It could also be reading together and then discussing a chapter at a time. They tend to be like 70% Bible discussion, 30% socializing.
Go on a church's website and they should have something regarding a young adult group. It'll be a little awkward when you first join naturally but everyone will be welcoming.

The Church essentially created European identity, which makes it very relevant. See "The Making of Europe" by Christopher Dawson. You'll enjoy it, one of the best (possibly the best) historical work of the 20th century. That's not to say you need to be European to be Catholic, of course.
