ITT: anime and franchises that are more popular in the West than in Japan

And explain why they aren't as popular in Japan.

Shhhhh!You dont discuss perfection!

Steam. Crunchyroll. Entry-tier level. Psychological drama which is quite popular in West, while in Japan it's kinda aimed only at otakus.

Ironic weebs.

Explain

...

entry level bullshit that caters to normalfags

Neptunia series I suppose.

Because the creator is Chinese

>Psychological drama

Because it's on Steam casual normalfags think it's cool to play shitty eroge.

because Japanese actually have good nukige to choose from

So Big O thread? Cuz Im down for some Big O

I have it on my PC since Dec 2016 yet I havent opened it for some reason.
I'll probably marathon it when OVA arrives

This and Lain are probably the two best examples. Both are critical darlings of the West, but are almost totally forgotten in Japan. Moreso NHK: apparently the novels never charted in the charts, and the anime averaged less than a thousand discs sold per volume, which was very poor back in 2006, let alone now.

Panty & Stocking because japs have shit taste

...

Isn't the manga popular there?

Naruto and Bleach

Chink shit.

because it was so NEW AND DIFFERENT to westerners at the time, who thus immortalized it

babies first eroge.

It's just me, but I don't like Sayori's art.

>that look

The cat is questioning whether or not it's about to be raped.

Hey man, Sayori's art is probably the only thing that is good about the game.

Now that you mentioned, her art is just going to pose more of a problem in the games if its the only good thing about it.

Like you said its good, but its not great. Thats only one thing. And if we take away Sayori's art what do we even have?

Im said that I don't like her art, but that doesn't strictly saying "I think its bad'. But going by what you said, it sounds like the art is meant to carry the game. Other components has got to raise in qualities to make it worth it. Otherwise commission drawings on /h/ is best use of her skills at this point.

...

>implying Nekopara was intended for anything more than masturbation

I'm getting that feeling from Kuzu no Honkai. Here in the west, we love our smutty dramas.
