Literally the only south Slav nation in the Warsaw pact was Bulgaria. Most south Slavs are from former Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia translates to land of the south slavs.

Romanians are more closely related with Serbians and Bulgarians, while the Hungarians are more closely related with the Austrians (due to geographical proximity and historical and cultural ties). However, we're not fully slavic - our haplogroups clearly show that we've assimilated a lot of slavs (recorded in history as well, as the slavic migrations), while still keeping our original ties with the Thracians (especially in the Carpathian region, where the population was heavily dispersed in mountainous clusters) and several other ancient groups that used to live on these lands.
