just

Convicts Arc is my least favorite, but whatever.

I wouldn't have a problem with them redoing the Maximum Tournament with a real budget. The anime mostly looks rather bad

They're not that bad.

I havent watched the 1st season completely and dunno what happened in the end. Is it still good on our current year standards?

GOT
TOO
MUCH
DE
SIRE

It's better than the current Baki if that helps you.

You mean the upcoming anime?
I really just want to see this fight animated.

[PS1 CGI intensifies]

What a shit OP. Ai Believe is so much better, both the song and the video itself

I wish I could get excited for that, but Musashi is basically making a point to get rekt by every single character. Makes all the KOs against him kinda meaningless. Baki himself KO'd him with a jab when he was fucking around

Even Hanayama got many hits in, with his slow-ass punches that have no business ever landing on anyone stronger than Gaia. I mean, Yujiro and Baki are already at "move faster than sound" levels

>tfw no more spicy Memetobe moments since he had his time to shine already

I don't even know where the hell this arc is trying to go.

How are they gonna deal with those ugly arts?

Yujiro VS Musashi. You didn't suspect anything from their fight being the only one that got interrupted before it could get serious? Even Musashi VS Baki concluded (and they got Baki out of the way like he was Doppo or any other of the secondaries, they're very clearly gonna focus on Musashi as a foe for Yujiro this arc).

Either Musashi wins and Yujiro goes into training and levels up into even more ridiculous levels OR

Yujiro wins having to actually go all-out for the first time. Yujiro VS Baki at the end of the previous series felt like Yujiro held back, even if it's true that at that time, Baki was second only to him in strength

yujiro dying is baki finale, so musashi will kill yujiro and then baki defeats him

>first JoJo
>now Baki
Great to see classic bizarre series getting anime adaptations.
Now we need new Kinnikuman anime.

but the are is so fucking ugly

Fuck right off to mal buddy

>not knowing the 'jesus christ that anatomy' guy
Are you newer to the Baki fandom?

Nice

This kind of show brings the best threads.

>This kind of show brings the best threads
I ask in sincerity: what exactly do you mean by that? Is that snark, or a serious thought?

Good news

Serious.
Under the assumption the series has not a big following here,so the threads are more for actual fans.

I wonder when better version of Baki will get its own adaptation.

Is this separate from the Convict thing that was announced months (years?) ago? Or is this what that turned into?

Fuck off.

It didn't "turn into" anything; this is exactly what the Convict arc adaptation is. I guess that they were just working out the details in secret for however long.

It was confirmed to get one a few years ago due to a poll voting it so, but we've gotten no news since

I really hope this doesnt become a meme.

I don't know if anybody knew or noticed, but we released the final chapter of the Kenjin Gaiden yesterday or so.
spinybackmanga.com/?manga=Kenjin&chapter=Baki Gaiden Kenjin Chapter 005

I might dump it here, in celebration of the news, if you guys would like me to do so.

jesus christ that anatomy

kengan ashua is mediocre and forgettable compared to baki

>to premiere on Netflix
FUCK OFF
REALLY!?

Castlevania was successful with the format

Expect independent (or even studio one-offs) animation to debut on Netflix often from now on. All it took was the precedent

the art in this series is so bizarre

the convict arc is the best part of Baki

>speck vs hanayama
>donovan or whoever that fucking weird, singing, trucker guy is
>fighting with fists covered in broken glass and set on fire

no other part can compete

The convicts are possibly the most forgettable antagonists from all of Baki. The only memorable one was Dorian Kaioh

We get it, you're shitposting with your shit taste. Please go away now, you're interrupting people with actual taste (everyone else)

Chinese tournament is the GOAT Baki "part" (it's actually a sequence of chapters within the same series but eh)

We NEED Yujiro VS Kaku Kaioh animated. Fuck the convicts, they're all mostly jobbers

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I agree that the Chinese Tournament is the best part, but I don't think that the Convicts are *too* bad. Besides, think about it like this: if this sells well, it's entirely possible that they might adapt later arcs.

On another note: I've just noticed that the OP posted totally no information on the adaptation itself. So, beyond 'lolnetflix', here's what we know:
There will be 26 episodes.
Each episode will be a full 30 minutes - that's *not* counting commercials or whatever.
It is being produced by TMS Entertainment.

The only two from the Chinese team I can remember are Retsu and Kaku. I have much more fond memories of the Convicts. Chinese tournament is almost Ali Jr tier.

>Chinese tournament is almost Ali Jr tier.

Worth it if nothing else for Yujiro and Oliva broing it up in the Japan Team backstage

You don't remember Jyaku? Or hand-pocket guy?

Is 26 episodes enough to adapt ~160 manga chapters?

Also, I wonder what they would have to change. Not only does the main character stop fighting like 3/4 through the arc, then the rest of the convicts are finished by old characters returning out of nowhere that hadn't even been there through this series. Both things would make for a really shitty conclusion.

Perhaps they'll end it with a lead-in to the Chinese Tournament, with a "To Be Continued...?"
That way, they can totally justify the cliffhanger ending of Baki being on the brink of death.

>"Baki" could be an intense watch for fans of mixed martial arts. Baki is a fighter in training to be the best in the world. The anime, which is based on a manga, will see him take on death row inmates with his friends in what Netflix calls "The Ultimate Fighting Legend." It will have 26 episodes.

Rumors are that netflix is in debt hell, the japs better take advantage while they can.

>Jesus VS Guile

I think the best way would be to move the fight where Baki BTFO Yanagi and Sirkosky for near the end, then leave Oliva and Yujiro finishing off the rest as an epilogue.

I thought Retsu is kill.

Soon.

Why are you citing an English article? Moreover, why did you reply to me by just repeating what I said?

At any rate, this was my source: animatetimes.com/news/details.php?id=1501661093

>配信エピソード:TVシリーズ:30分/26話
>【プロダクション】トムス・エンタテインメント
>【原作】板垣 恵介 「バキ」(秋田書店「週刊少年チャンピオン」)

>just repeating what I said?
I added confirmation that it will be the Convicts arc, assuming the guy isn't talking out his ass. I thought that's what you were implying we didn't know.

If it was good then its good now, the show didn't change.

This show isnt though, I watched it a few years ago and was pretty boring. The turning point was a fight where he kicks his opponent in the balls TWICE. Never looked back on this franchise, but its surprising that they're adapting the continuation after this long instead of just making it from scrap. If only Otokojuku got this treatment.

Oh, no. It is the Convicts arc, without a doubt. ...That was kind of the point of the OAD.

I vaguely remember it being completely onesided except for Retsu versus the guy who only ever showed up in that arc, Japanese Kaioh iirc.

any chance it will air before 2018?

The only Kaiou who Retsu fought in the Chinese Tournament was Jyaku, as I recall. And he's shown up since then; multiple times, actually.

No. If they say it's slated for 2018, they're not going to push it up. You know how horrible Jap animators have it already, after all.

I've literally never heard of an anime's release date being pushed *up*, now that I think about it.

I didn't see any date, that's why I asked.

The rumors were bullshit. Even the guy that wrote about said rumors corrected his bullshit.

Leave anime to me

Knowing how business is generally conducted, it would be virtually impossible for the anime to start in 2017. If it were to start in 2017, it could only start in the Fall season, which would be extraordinarily bizarre (and unprecedented) given that even just its means of distribution was only announced today. The Fall anime season starts in about a month.

I'd love it as much as you would were it to happen, but it really can't.

Looking forward to the Memetobe episode.

>We'll get to see this animated

It's not the Musashi fight but it's the best we'll get.

is this a sci-fi? man i love alien samurai

>alien samurai
Don't give Itagaki ideas, he'd actually make that the next arc.

that reminds me of a chapter in this big forehead girl assasin manga where a dude was fighting an alien in boxing.

You mean imaginary dual wielding atomic volcano raptor mantis bee samurai.
I wish I was joking.

Strangely I've never thought to compare this with Baki, but now that I am I can see that it fucking sucks compared to Baki. Thanks for that, faggot.

but they're still two different manga. it would be like comparing kenichi with all rounder meguru.

You mean Cynthia The Mission? I don't remember any aliens in that.

But yeah, aliens seem like the next logical progression for Itagaki if he doesn't just stick to cloning dead people.

>You mean Cynthia The Mission? I don't remember any aliens in that.
if I remember right, its in the prologue chapters

>But yeah, aliens seem like the next logical progression for Itagaki if he doesn't just stick to cloning dead people.
I actually kind like that if he says that this manga is not entirely canon so he go to the extreme and introduce a couple demihumans or monsters.

Could be good but since it's netflix I hope it fails.

why? this isnt a reboot, they're picking an arc thats kind of middle int he series so you would need to followed the series in the beginning before that.I mean who watches something new but the beginning of it? and the normies probably won't watch the old because of it being "old"

The original series isn't actually that important. All you need to know is Baki is a strong kid, Yujiro's his mean scary dad, and there's a bunch of dangerous motherfuckers who fight in an underground arena every now and then. Everything else is easily inferred by context in the series. Even stuff like Jack being Baki's brother isn't even mentioned until the third series (and then only briefly).

Still though, if you don't know the characters the ending is "and then these guys we never saw before and weren't even in the game came and beat the remaining prisoners".

>sci-fi

Not really no. Baki is one of those old as fuck mangas thats evolved a very unique art style and gained a cult following of readers.

Much like Jojo, but for many years nobody was bothered to scan Baki for the wider internet to enjoy.

and also the fact that theres no official english print for the series.

>Even stuff like Jack being Baki's brother isn't even mentioned until the third series
yeah one fo the things they change completely in the anime right? they droppings hints like yujiro drops bodies.

I mean it's a big deal in the first series, but it doesn't come up in New Grappler Baki at all. And IIRC in the third series it's only mentioned in a throwaway line when Baki's sad that Jack got to fight Pickle before him.

Wait what the fuck
>eye stabbing
>balls grabbing
Did Kengan Asura rip this off, vice versa, or is it the absolute best way to defeat judoka? Am I missing something?

I'm ready for no subs

Eye stabbing and nutcracking are pretty good ways to defeat just about anyone, honestly.

Definitely. It just looks a bit too much like the Muteba - Meguro fight.

>Did Kengan Asura rip this off, vice versa
>eye stabbing
>balls grabbing
>baki being made before KA
so much wrong with this post.

Baki loves people getting kicked in the balls. Happens in so many fights. Even Musashi got kicked in the balls.

I'm ignorant, which is why I ask. I don't know when Kenjin was made.

>Eye stabbing and nutcracking are pretty good ways to defeat just about anyone
>Doppo can put his balls in his stomach and only has one eye
Doppo confirmed for ultimate grappler

by the strongest creature in the world

>Doppo's first loss on screen was when someone gouged out his eye
>You can simply punch him in the stomach to crush his balls instead

Get that weak shit outta here.

>Dissing on Doppo

i re-read ali jr jobbing chapter at least 4 times a year

The only good fights in this series are the ones that don't involve Baki himself.

I ended up genuinely enjoying it
The feel's good
And the last episode with young Oliva vs. Yujiro was great

BAKI BEST DOPPO

Is this series meant to be taken seriously? I watched some of the last anime and while it was enjoyable it was just so fucking crazy

Baki's dad killing his mom by hugging her to death, then beating Baki so hard his hair literally changed color
HOW DO YOU BEAT YOUR SON SO BADLY IT REMOVES YOUR GENES FROM HIM

>Is this series meant to be taken seriously?

Gee I wonder

Yeah but that's a lot of them.

wait what? oh wait thats right thse chapters werent translated were they?

and I think you can take the seriously up to a point.

Needs more female fanservice and action with fem MC love interest going crazy against the others female competitors.
