Why do Americans buy things they cannot afford?
Why do Americans buy things they cannot afford?
The US is a country built around cars, you have to have one to survive.
Debt culture and the boomers who ate that shit up. Meanwhile I have no student loans, no credit care (or credit score) and I only buy things I know I have the money to afford. It's not that hard but it seems everywhere you turn, someone is always trying to make you their debt slave.
Because my countrymen are literally retarded to the point where we subscribe cars. I dave ramsey so i really cant understand it. I like keeping my money.
Also can we retake scotland?
You need a car in America, unless you live in New York, are a shut-in or a general lazy ass. Eurofags won't understand unless they come here. Seems Eurofags have a tough time grasping the sheer size of America.
Because niggers and our shitty culture. I see tons of young 20 somethings driving around my city in $20k-$30k cars and live in $2000 a month rent apartments. They then spend the weekends, and usually a weekday or two partying at clubs or eating out at expensive restaurants. Sure they might have a job to afford all that excessive shit, but no way they have any real savings to speak of.
>Car prices rise dramatically
>wages still stagnant
>why do Americans buy things they cannot afford?
Man, I promise, she's so self-conscious
She has no idea what she doin' in college
That major that she majored in don't make no money
But she won't drop out, her parents'll look at her funny
Now, tell me that ain't insecurr
The concept of school seems so securr
Sophomore, three yurrs, ain't picked a carurr
She like, "Fuck it, I'll just stay down hurr and do hair."
‘Cause that's enough money to buy her a few pairs
Of new Airs, ‘cause her baby daddy don't really care
She's so precious with the peer pressure
Couldn't afford a car, so she named her daughter Alexis
She had hair so long that it looked like weave
Then she cut it all off, now she look like Eve
And she be dealin' with some issues that you can't believe
Single black female addicted to retail, and well
Man, I promise, I'm so self-conscious
That's why you always see me with at least one of my watches
Rollie's and Pasha's done drove me crazy
I can't even pronounce nothin', pass that Ver-say-see!
Then I spent four hundred bucks on this
Just to be like, "Nigga, you ain't up on this."
And I can't even go to the grocery store
Without some Ones that's clean and a shirt with a team
It seem we livin' the American Dream
But the people highest up got the lowest self-esteem
The prettiest people do the ugliest things
For the road to riches and diamond rings
We shine because they hate us, floss 'cause they degrade us
We tryna buy back our 40 acres
And for that paper, look how low we'll stoop
Even if you in a Benz, you still a nigga in a coupe
I say, "Fuck the police," that's how I treat 'em
We buy our way out of jail, but we can't buy freedom
We'll buy a lot of clothes, but we don't really need 'em
Things we buy to cover up what's inside
'Cause they made us hate ourself and love they wealth
That's why shorty's hollerin', "Where the ballers at?"
Drug dealer buy Jordan, crackhead buy crack
And the white man get paid off of all of that
But I ain't even gon' act holier than thou
'Cause fuck it, I went to Jacob with 25 thou
Before I had a house and I'd do it again
‘Cause I wanna be on 106 & Park, pushin' a Benz
I want to act ballerific like it's all terrific
I got a couple past-due bills, I won't get specific
I got a problem with spendin' before I get it
We all self-conscious, I'm just the first to admit it
I've got a student loan, but otherwise I'm on the same page. I don't like the idea of being massively indebted to someone.
Pisses me the fuck off.
all you cocksmokers that finance shit, make everything more expensive for the rest of us.
Protip: If you can't save enough money in 2 years to buy whatever the fuck it is you want, you shouldn't own the fucking thing anyway!
Well buddy, they need a way to get to work in the first place.
Because commuting to my job via public transportation is not feasible.
My god, I drove a truck that's like 32 years old, desu it's probably worth 25,000 at the moment- but that's just from inflation.
It runs like a charm, sucks up gas but it's overall cheaper than buying a new 30,000 car every 4 years like most people my age do
Car culture.
It's necessary but also a status symbol.
I live in a wealthy area, and the amount of new cars, sports cars, and luxury automobiles I've noticed has gone up dramatically. More people are living here since kids move back after college and people rent out spare rooms. There's also been some development.
The streets and freeways are totally clogged now and it's like you travel from one parking lot to the next with nothing in between. Why you would need more than 200 HP for bumper to bumper traffic is beyond my understanding, but it seems like every other person has a noisy high performance automobile or a totally monstrous truck.
I've been reading for about 2 years now that the auto loan industry is creeping into bubble territory. Unfortunately Im a unemployed manchild with a worthless degree and I have no idea how to cash in on people defaulting on their car loans.
people don't own anything in the new world they just rent it
minus the folks on top obviously
Good luck getting a home loan when you finally grow up.
>mrw car paid off
Which is why you can get auto loans with shit credit, they know you need it for a job, and the car itself is collateral is you stop making payments.
A car loan doesn’t mean you can’t afford it. I own a 100k R8. I took out a loan to purchase it even though I have a 160k in the bank. Why? Because the interest is low and I don’t mind spreading payment over 4 years all the while having the financial security of my money still available. The bank takes all the risk not me.
Also, there are people that need cars to get to work that don’t have the cash in hand to purchase it outright.
Slick your hair back and get a couple cheap suits.
Don’t worry about him user, that genius Sup Forumslock is going to buy his first home with the cash stuffed under the mattress. Banks are a Jewish invention and building up credit is a meme.
It’s nice to splurge on something nice for yourself every now and then but the Keynesian fucks convinced generations of people that consuming by any means necessary makes for a healthy economy.
I took out a car loan on a car I could have bought outright, no problem. I need better credit so I can get a mortgage. Besides, that money has done me much more good in the stock market instead of being tied up in a car. For me, it was the better choice. And while I'm 'in debt' in the sense that I owe money for the car, I'm more than happy to have turned a $35k purchase into a $450/mo payment.
It just makes way more sense. And some company is making money off of my loan, and in exchange I get to keep the majority of my money in a stock portfolio that's been paying out like gangbusters.
>Have enough cash to buy car outright
>Buy car on loan with low rate of interest
>Take car money, invest in the stock market, get higher rate of return than car interest
Why are you not doing this?
I'm in deep debt
student loans
no other way to get electrical engineering degree
>he cant figure out how to survive in the modern era without any debt!
It's a cultural problem. When I was out of college and working my first job a few years ago, I bought a truck that looked like pic related, because it was a special deal and was cheap (just $800, which I paid in cash). People looked down on me for driving this vehicle in the suburb of a large city. I was pulled over by police for no real cause (which they admitted, since I wasn't ticketed). My boss asked me to park the truck away from the employee parking area, because it "gave a bad impression" to customers (this was at a regional, white-collar consultancy). It's not viable to drive economically if you want to be part of "polite society."
Except you didnt have to get a degree to get into electrical engineering. You could have just taught yourself and then during your job interview proven yourself and gotten a job
I prefer to hire no degree candidates that can prove their knowledge by the projects they work in than some kid that regurgitate bull shit he was taught by some Professors that couldn't make it in the field
You're setting yourself up for disaster.
loan =/= ability to pay
>Make enough money to put 1,000 into savings every month
>Car is getting old, starting to need repairs regularly
>Trade it in and get a loan for a new car
>Only pay 300 a month
>Still have 700 in savings a month
>Instead of having to use up all of my savings after waiting 18 months
Taking out a loan doesn't mean you can't afford it.
You can't GET a lone if you can't afford it.
Loans are not lines of credit. It's a lump some the company is out if you don't pay it. There's more risk.
This. I did this with student loan. That one is basically an interest free loan. Idiots
