What does that film have anything to do with Christianity. If you wish to sell your soul to the devil and not life a peaceful eternal life after death. Then by all means.

the goat is the devil, witches are real, wtf i love jesus now.
>t.christcuck

How are you supposed to take Europeans seriously after reading this thread?

Because it portrays the type of world we had when Christianity ruled. One filled with lunacy and superstition.
How are you supposed to take Americans seriously when pic related is considered a white supremacist in America?

When you realize that the underlying theme of The Witch, it becomes an even better movie.

First of all, the witch is real, as shown at the beginning of the movie.
Second, like the original puritans, the fatherfigure reinterprets scripture that leads to irreconcilable differences. The family represents Puritan america exiled from european Christianity.

Likewise, the witch eats the teenage boy with sexuality, and the devil lures the daughter with allures of material wealth. "The Witch" allegorically addresses the consequences of Liberal-Protestantism, and the nature of the USA as run by the devil.

That's an interesting reading, but I don't think the director intended it. I could be wrong though. I do, however, see Protestantism as exactly that, the force that led to the secularisation of the west.

>one filled with lunacy and superstition
Hello R*ddit

>the world portrayed in the film isn't filled with lunacy and superstition
Hello christ cuck.

burn all witches. Niggers/Spics/Injins/Democrats.

Anti-Christian!

The excesses and corruption of the Catholic church made Protestantism inevitable.

Indeed the Catholic church has pushed more away from God that any 'manifestation of the devil' has pulled away. We don't even have to go back to the Reformation times to see the despicable behaviour of the Catholic church, we go back 30 years and look at the handling of the paedophilic priests.

Presbyterianism is the ultimate form of Christianity.

>Anti-Christian!
>this is bad

>getting your worldviews from movies
It's like you enjoy being brainwashed.

Thanks user. I really enjoyed this movie, the underlying sense of futility and foreboding and hopelessness throughout the whole thing isn't very common in horror flicks on this side of the pond. That interpretation adds another dimension to it. We get plenty of "slasher" shit tier jason and freddy kruger movies where everybody dies but the almost surreal sense of constantly encroaching darkness in this film felt unique. I might rewatch and try reinterpreting again through that lens. Thanks user

The catholic church has more followers than any other denomination. How did the Catholic church push away people from Christianity in the West when the catholic church hasn't had any serious influence in the west for over 400 years?
You're delusional.
Protestantism weakened Christianity by levelling to the level of the masses, by professing everyman can understand God. It's the ultimate egalitarianism and leads directly to leftism. If every man can understand God himself, why should he answer to any other authority? Why should he consider any earthly authority as above himself? It doesn't take long to go from this presupposition to reject God all together, as the sanctity of religion slowly withers away with mass consumption and watering down.

>movies don't portray elements of human nature and history

Oh so he's not anti-christian, he's a faggot catholicuck

>has no arguments

Why argue with a retard

>I'll just call him a retard, that way I can conserve my fragile identity and feel superior, without having to engage with the things that make me feel uneasy.

You can portray everything as being good or bad in a movie.

The portrayal isn't bad or good, it's historical, minus the supernatural elements (which people believed literally at the time anyway).

Because by affording certain people absolute power (read priests up to pope's) you leave the whole religion wide open to the corruptible nature of those people. I'm sure you will agree that people are by nature corruptible if not outright corrupt.

A prime example of this being indulgences. How can you reconcile their existence with your hatred of protestants? You at least must agree with some of the 'protests'.

Indeed 'Papal infallibility' is another example of the extreme arrogance of powerful individuals in the Catholic church, wrought from the same corruption. You can't trust people to guide you in religion, blind faith gives the 'devil' in us all an open door.

Also I would argue it leads to libertarianism. And I prefer a separation of religion and state as Christian values can unfortunately be abused by the (((subversives))).

Your solution, to turn every man into his own pope, is even worse and only further escalates the problems you're talking about. Instead of having one source of corruption, you decentralise it and spread it everywhere, and make it impossible to combat. America is littered with egomaniac preachers raking in millions by spreading garbage. European Protestantism is basically leftism at this point, as is the American version, minus a few crank organisations that retreat into the worst forms of Christianity (denying science), which further alienate the majority of people from it.

The catholic church can, and has been, reformed several times from lunacy and errors. Protestantisms cannot, it just forms more and more offshoots, and the mass of it becomes secularised. Believe what you like, but it's no coincidence that protestant countries are the most secular and degenerate.

Yes, when ultra protestant puritans ruled.
Just like they still do today.

Libertarianism is leftism.
By the sound of it, you don't really want to live in a Christian society, and that's okay, but it's time you accept that your beliefs do exactly that, lead to a non-Christian society, instead of believing the opposite.

FICTION, you daft twat.

>fiction isn't based on reality
>fiction can't be historical
>fiction cannot represent humanity accurately
What a fucking brainlet.

Good argument. My view is definitely narrowed by my experience of a rural Presbyterian church. Those US pastors raking in millions are indeed parallels to the papal structure.

Just further drives me from organised religion to be honest. The same arguments I've made can be applied to both sides and naive people will always be exploited by any apparatus available to those with no morals.

Fair play to you, you've changed my opinion as I always hated the US pastors but irrationally excluded them from Protestantism as to the form I experienced they were the antithetical. I can't reasonably do that in the grand scheme of things.

People will be people, corruption is as omnipresent as any God. Although on both sides of Christianity the majority of UK places of worship are probably still well-meaning.

Fuck off you fedora wearing Redditard. Christianity is responsible for Europe becoming so advanced in the first place. Anyone who has ever studied sociology knows this.

This is what good christian woman looks like, take notes amerimutts.

...

>The world now isn't more superstitious than ever

Dream on, you have any idea of the utter BSthat normies will believe these days? Man-made global warming, Russian collusion in every country, democracy being the greatest thing ever to name a few. At least Christianity teaches not to cling to material wealth unto death, which is the most important red pill you need.

Statements like that still sidetrack me. Liberals want more government intervention, Libertarians want less. They can't be the same. I say this as a right-wing voter I prefer dealing with Centrists as opposed to Leftists.

>Falling for the jew propaganda machine

How does one film negate 2000 years of history, tradition, and the entirety of western civilization? Daft cunt. The Catholic Church built western civilization. You cannot disprove it. Lol. You are like a leaf that doesn't know he is part of a tree. Brush your teeth. Ur breath smells like paki cock.

Ultimately both ideologies are egalitarian and believe all men are equal. That is the assumption in both. The river flows in different directions, but that doesn't change the fact it's the same river with the same source.

>How are you supposed to take Christianity seriously after watching this film?

>comparing supernatural beliefs to scientific beliefs
The former can't be proven wrong. Ever.

>take Christianity seriously after watching this film
you're not.
That's the whole point the jews are trying to make.

>watch hebrew propaganda movie
>wtf I hate God nao XDD

>everyone that makes movies is an evil jew wanting to hurt me

You don't, Christianity is a Semitic religion that has no place in Europe.

every atheist sure is,breh

give me your soul

It’s not lunacy or superstition if it’s all true. Which, in the film, it is.

How are you supposed to take this thread seriously after this OP?

>film is filled with lunacy and superstition
>the devil is real and you can sell your soul to him

Wtf I hate christianity now

The film is portraying the beliefs of Christians literally.

If a horror movie can shake your faith, you never took it seriously to begin with. Kys yourself and spare the poor woman who let's you fuck her

...

...

So the film that portrays the devil appearing as goat is also portraying Christians as "superstitious" ? Do you see the irony in your statement?

>Christianity is responsible for Europe becoming so advanced in the first place.

You are talking about that theory by Max Weber most likely, it's not all of christianity and it referes mostly to protestants.

Also, it's only a factor, not necessarily as important. The development of the scientific method and constant war in Europe was probably more relevant.

It's portraying 17th century Christianity, especially the American form, as if it was real. That does not negate the fact Christians believed this stuff (and many still do) without it being real.

>the devil and demons aren't real

Prove they're real.
I'll wait.

Christianity is for useless faggots who rather live in fantasies instead of reality

Who founded NASA?

It's amazing how alt right christiancucks mock niggers for worshipping the ooga booga gods but belive in jesus and the devil

Good flick

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creation_of_NASA

lol

Did you watch the movie? The witches were snatching up the children and taking out the family one by one. It seemed like the movie implied they were only attacked until they started to lose faith in God and throw their blame at themselves. Oh yeah, and it was a fictional horror movie not a non-fiction documentary.

How do you explain possession if the devil and demons aren't real?

No Marvel.

>Presbyterianism is the ultimate form of Christianity.

>How do you explain possession if the devil and demons aren't real?
Mental illness, which is mistakenly viewed as possession.

Why should man believe some guy in a funny hat speaks the word of God?

quora.com/Do-catholics-believe-that-the-pope-speaks-to-and-orally-hears-God

You are deluded.

>calls me deluded because he has no arguments

Most human wish to remain in the artificial womb (matrix) it comforts them.

We're not having a debate.

You simply cannot handle the truth.

Personality disorders?

>a Hollywood movie affecting your beliefs
Are people really this retarded?

I just showed you a picture of the Devil, did I not?

I used to be a Roman Catholic.

Don't give me some article BS.

You already made this thread at

No idea what the film is about but as it's called "witch"

The believe in witches is not native to Christianity.

It popped up only after the Islamic invasion of Spain, witchcraft is one of the deadly sins in Islam.
The basic christian idea was that only God can work wonders,
Islam added the option of a contract with Dschinn (that are frequently mentioned in the Koran), this changed into a christian believe in daemons forming a (sexual) contract with witches (both male or female witches possible, with male an female daemons).

The word "Devils" was often used instead of daemons, with the reformation, the believe in things not in the bible was reduced, it was now only the one and only "devil" making the contract and therefor only female witches ...

The only people who are lunatics are atheists. And Christianity is the opposite of superstitious. Most Bible believing Christians are completely opposed to superstition.

Get yourself deep into satanism or wicca and you will probably come across one (and regret it). You may think youre in control, but demons have some dark power that can ruin your life. The only cure is coming to the Lord Jesus, since he is the only one demons cant defeat and must listen to. Demons were in the Bible by the way, like when one possessed a man and then went into a boar.

We are Legion

they said

(((160833290)))
(((160834102)))
(((160834510)))
(((160845935)))

Oh it's no joke humans.

No joke at all.

God is very real.

I happened to watch The Witch yesterday, first movie I've enjoyed in long years.

>Demons were in the Bible by the way, like when one possessed a man and then went into a boar.
Yes I'm well aware of that, but it's still nonsense. Satanism and wicca are just forms of religious individualism, especially Satanism, which is lifted out of Ayn Rand (if we are talking about the church of Satan in America). You're just a superstitious christcuck with a penchant for delusions.

So The Devil did not form NASA?

>opposed to superstition
>believe in angels and demons
>believed Jesus fed thousands with a piece of bread and walked on water

Bulkshit. Demons are both in the old and new testament.

Then you're a moron and you are lying. Otherwise you wouldn't have made a cheap strawman.

Hmmmm?
What is this man's birth name?

Only opposed to the superstition the church doesn't stamp with a wax seal.

Why would the devil form nasa?
Get some meds you lunatic.

I asked you for his name

Its (((holywood))) who takes anything they make serious ?

How are they ruling you now? Or you just hate christains?
