Has anyone noticed that punctuality is much less common a skill than it used to be? How much of it is due to cellphones? It used to be that if you weren't at the meeting point at the prearranged time, your ass got left behind. Now, there's always a flurry of texts and everyone is half an hour late.
...
Who here played "smear the queer" with the football in elementary school?
me
Oh, hell yeah.
Thread Theme: youtu.be
Looks like I missed an epic thread.
Australia also saw its glory years in the '80s and '90s, peaking in my opinion in 2000 with the Sydney Summer Olympics. Still the benchmark for this event.
>Being forced into a war, and it blowing up into a world war is his exactly his fault. Britain was not allowing for surrender, but of full on unconditional surrender. There were no turning back at that point.
you're missing the point. jesus christ, are you actually trying to turn this into a "defend hitler" discussion? that has nothing to do with the point. the point is that he killed off all of the free thinkers and what's left are the lemmings in germany today who are suiciding themselves. that's what authoritarianism gets you. libertarianism gets you the opposite. jesus
>So, are you going to deny that Jews were behind Bolshevism, globalism, capitalism, communism, and are the owners of major companies/industries?
you're fucking hopeless, you leaf, you missed the point totally. TO-TA-LLY
yeah and literally everyone hated them and thought they were jokes. that's the difference.
It’s pretty annoying. What’s the use of specifying a time if no one gets there around that time?
GOD IN SCHOOLS
This is all I knew about Australia in the 80's.
Anyone remember dangerous old amusement parks? This was the one in my hometown, now replaced with a typical Six Flags-type substitute.
And then if you try to explain that to a younger person, they stare at you blankly or just roll their eyes.
Who here watched Bones Brigade / Gleaming the Cube and snuck into the city pool in the fall after it was drained so you could skate in it?
They think that as long as they sent a text saying "on the way" that's as good as being there. That's putting forth an effort to them.
>countach wasn't a car it's a spaceship
The 80's and 90's had school shootings but they weren't publicized as much because the media wasn't controlled by six corporations which it is now:
youtube.com
Porsche 911, 944, and Countach were so sexy
Back before aerodynamics ruined most of the art of car design. Like come on, these things are barely reliable toys, you aren't racing, you are buying a sexy car to get sexy chicks, why do you care about aerodynamics so much?
Oldfags like to call a meeting over shit that could be handled with a text. The reason no one but oldfags care if anyone is late is because phones let us keep in constant communication so you never really miss anything. Now drink your geritol.
>This is all I knew about Australia in the 80's.
Everything I know about Australia, I learned from the Road Warrior
Elitch Gardens
ArvadaFag checking in
Fuck meetings. Never liked 'em. However, things like movies and concerts begin at a specific time. Fetal twat.
60s 70s 80s all had the same protests and rallies you see today. pro or anti abortion, pro or anti deportation, communism, facism, bigots, racism, equity equality, feminism, all the exact same buzzwords. Just never got televised near as much as it does now.
dumbass parents give birth and raise dumbass kids, todays generation continues the tradition.
of course theres always a minority to everything.
some of you are alright, don't come to the 2030s
Everything is shaped like a bug now. I always loved 80s car design. I love 80s auto interiors the most also.
Meetings? Only wagecucks have to worry about meetings.
>How much of it is due to cellphones?
I would estimate very little to none.
Punctuality has had lower or higher value depending where you are form in the USA. In the midwest when I grew up I was always told "Early is on-time. On-time is late. Late is unacceptable." I feel this might also be strong in mid-atlantic states. Like being punctual in Buffalo, NY might be highly expected, but maybe some other regions, Hawaii being the most obvious, it's not.
Consider Hispanics, especially Mexicans, are not very punctual at all. They have a very "time flexible" culture. And where do they dominate? CA, among other states. And a lot of our media comes out of CA and influences the entire country. You can generally expect Mexican cultural norms to continue to influence the entire of the USA thru movies, TV and music, imo.
my neighbor born 1940s, my dad 1950s, they hated the 80s as well.
>why do you care about aerodynamics so much?
I don't give a fuck, I have a RAM 2500 diesel for work and a Sierra 2500 6.6L for home. Fuck the carbon tax tax cock suckers, yeah I work in oil and gas
Right on. Remember driving on I-70 and having a fucking jumbo jet rolling over you at Stapleton?
...
That's a possibility. Not to mention the influence of black "culture." There's a reason people used to joke about "Colored People Time."
Aerodynamics is a lie for why all cars look like Toyotas now. I don't know what the real reason is, but it's not "muh aerodynamics."
Someone mentioned one last thread in Baltimore in a middle school, said he couldn't find any record of it They started publicizing in the 90s with the littleton shooting.
me, and we had a neighborhood kid whos last name kinda rhymed with queer and he got extra beat up
Yup
I remember when Lodo was a shitty area of town and you carried a knife in case the hobos tried to jump you.
I know that all the mandated safety devices have had an effect. If you've got to stick six airbags in the car, that's going to affect what you can do with the wheel, dashboard, etc. Not to mention that the body/cage standards shrink the allowable window size.
>I don't know what the real reason is, but it's not "muh aerodynamics."
Aerodynamics is fuel efficiency, especially at highway speeds.
now all i see is that truck on the right shoulder which probably has a ied under all that trash
Oh, shit yeah. I've been away for a while but I hear even Five Points is getting gentrified. I remember when Dean and Rog's producer got robbed on the new light rail train in Five Points back in the nineties.
Nah, back then it would have just been some nigger from Five Points carrying home a load of stolen bikes. It was a simpler time.
>t. someone who's never driven a car
>but it's not "muh aerodynamics."
it does make a difference on the highway, proper contouring prevents boundary- layer separation and vortices that can add significantly to drag and affect millage. That said no one should give a fuck driving to work etc
t. eng
My mom worked in 5 points and carried a gun in her purse in case her car ever broke down.
Everything is gentrified.
I left a long time ago, but have been back a few times to visit.
We used to drag race in Longmont on Main street (287) and it was just a few blocks of city then open country.
Now its all suburbs.
I've read so many stories of Jews or whites who lived in a black neighbourhood getting their ass kicked on the daily. Happened all throughout the 20th century.
>This is all I knew about Australia in the 80's.
I knew there was a big problem with baby eating dingos. And I learned that "that's not a knoife."
I'm not talking about pick up trucks, but the show off sports cars.
compare this modern aerodynamic lamborghini to the countach It just isn't cool anymore, it looks like any other car but with different styling. It has no personality now.
Is this a satire of 80's comedian?
nbc.com
lmao, what a cool sight. too bad it isn't like that anymore.
I lived in a black neighborhood and never got fucked with. Paid a local homeless one to watch my truck at night, though.
My dad's side of the family is still in Colorado, so I'll probably move back in the next five years. Just not to the Denver Area.
Yeah, it's wild how much the city has spread and gentrified. I can remember working security at raves held in abandoned warehouses or light industrial buildings in Commerce City. Couldn't do that now.
...
Not to mention how much of a drive it is to the new airport. I remember freaking out the first time I had to drive to DIA to pick up my dad because there were fucking tumbleweeds blowing across the highway and there was a huge gap between the city and the airport back then. Now, it's all built up.
That's funny I used to roadie for my friend who sang in a Goth metal band and we would setup in old churches
and abandoned buildings in Commerce City and old Lodo. (small world)
Purina plant always stunk to high heaven.
>Who here played "smear the queer" with the football in elementary school?
lol, we did. some teacher didn't like it and told us to stop.. so we changed it to 'smash the fag'
>>the point is that he killed off all of the free thinkers and what's left are the lemmings in germany today who are suiciding themselves
>Hey he fought in war and lost, so that means that he is to blame for Germans being cucks now!
It's not quite like that. You see, after the Germans lost WW2, the (((allies))) initiated a sorta "de-nazification" program. That is the same time they came up with the holohoax propaganda with lampshades and 6 millions. Than you got the Russians who controlled the other half of Germany and quite obviously brainwashed them with communist propaganda.
The point is, Germany was gutted. All the remaining talent was shipped to allies, and the people left in charge were slowly brainwashing citizens to Marxist ideals and pushing in white guilt up to what we have currently.
>libertarianism gets you the opposite. jesus
Liberalism is a selfish ideology. One that focuses on oneself(the "individual"). Not to mention an excuse for fenceshitters to point and cry fault to either side without coming up with anything of value.
If I remember correctly, the US was apperently libertarian(barely), and look how long it look for it to get subverted by another ideology? The individual will always get swarmed by the collectivist.
yeah agreed/ I like the new line of Chargers though (not just because of Charlottesville), My neighbor is selling his 2015, I might buy it
>HURR DURRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I’ll let you know now nigger
Keep it all to yourself no matter how right you become
Don’t ask don’t tell
Opps I told
I used to commute from Aurora to the Auraria campus. You'd open your nose for the good smells from that big bakery, and then right afterwards the fucking Purina plant would rape your sinuses. What was the name of your friend's band?
Fuck yes we did, played it outside all the time.
The last two threads have been good feelz guys, I am happy and off to bed.
I leave you with one last 80s memory.
>Sweet Dreams
Seraphim Shock
Any remembers John Jacobs and the meme team? Literally tvangelist who preached about God while breaking things.
Good thread. Keep it alive boys.

no, only the countash was good,
you dont need to throw in these other bullshit meme shitboxes like porche
>I leave you with one last 80s memory

It would be funny to see fluid simulations of the boxy designs. I'm sure they had tons of turbulance, but at least they could make any shape they wanted. Like these shutter things on the rear window, I'm sure they are create tons of turbulance but they were kindof a neat idea.
Cool. Don't think I ever caught one of their shows, but I do remember hearing the name.
That's because they were coming off generations of working families. Back when there were plenty of labouring jobs for
not bad at all, american cars have gotten a hell of a lot better since they almost went out of business around 2008.
Hallo Vriend uit Nederland.
Sauce on dat gif?
Not to mention apartment rents...used to split an 1100 sq ft two bedroom with a friend of mine for $400 a month in a pretty nice part of Littleton.
My cousin got a 1bd condo in Centennial for like $60k in 2000.
You can do it yourself if you have a recent autodesk +plug ins and a hefty GPU and CPU. I work in fluidized-bed reactor design so I was able to grab the SW from work, but it's easy to torrent it, if you get interested
youtube.com
I believe it. If you graphed the price increases for real estate, it would probably look like the "hockey stick" portion of the global warming graph from about 2001 on.

countach is only sexy to look at and hear
driving it is a cunt
>legs squished to an angle
>backing up only when door is open and you're sitting on the frame because the rear window is too tiny and side mirrors dont do shit
>windshield wiper is shit
>no interior storage... for anything
theyre fast as fuck though. and they turn heads. and they have that boner inducing italian engine roar.
the design of the body is gorgeous too. aesthetic for the day. still holds up for style
i love how you can just excuse everything going on in germany today because "muh propaganda". and what's going to happen in your authoritarian paradise? no propaganda ever? everything is just going to stay the same?
you're missing the point leaf, every single post. i'm not even going to bother with you, like most leafs, there's just no hope for you.
>Liberalism is a selfish ideology. One that focuses on oneself(the "individual")
oh yes, it's very selfish NOT to expect others to do as you tell them to under threat of pain and death, huh?
please dude, you sound insane. sorry you took the nazi meme seriously. to most people here, including myself, it's only something we do ironically. maybe you should look in the mirror and consider you've been had. you're literally trying to tell me that an ideology in which you kill people for not doing what you tell them to do is the "noble and selfless" one. i can't even imagine how deeply steeped in insane propaganda you have to be to believe that.
>fluidized-bed reactor
Well neat.
I won't be doing it myself, I am sure it would end up ridiculously bad. They were better off with "ignorance is bliss"
I heard it was also shit on highways, cause you'd have a huge blind spot. The only way you would want to change lanes is by going faster than everyone.
also lol at backing up, the the guy does it in this vid. Total showy car. youtube.com
>Well neat
it is pretty neat. These days if you are in a chem eng field you need to get very specialized to be indispensable.
>littleton shooting
Never heard of it, now I wonder what gun acts/laws were signed after that happened
digging
just realized how stupid i am, littleton is the colorado shooting. yes, i am a leaf
I don't know whether to praise or curse Elway.

1996 Bill Clinton signs the new telecom act allowing media monopolies
1999 Almost 90% of media is owned by six companies: Disney, GE, Newscorp, Viacom, Time Warner and CBS
April 20th Columbine high school massacre:
>A month after the shooting, the Senate narrowly passed a bill requiring background checks for firearm sales at gun shows, with Vice President Al Gore casting the deciding vote. The bill, which also required child safety trigger locks to be sold with guns, never passed the House.
>After the Colorado shooting, gun sales have risen around the country. For some, it's because they want to buy a gun for self-protection. But there's a bigger reason, gun-shop owners say.
>Self-protection is part of the reason. But a bigger factor, say gun dealers, is fear of something else: politicians – specifically, their ability to enact restrictions on gun ownership and acquisition of ammunition.
Now you see how they play the world
>before aerodynamics ruined most of the art of car design
The 924/944 had a cd of only 0,30 to 0,28.
>why do you care about aerodynamics so much?
Topspeed, less air drag = more speed
