Welcome to the NHK

Been a while since I've seen an NHK thread.
So let's discuss NHK, the anime, the novel, the music, anything you took away from it.

>knock, knock, knock

>anything you took away from it
What I took away from it is that the anime is completely fucking retarded and drops of so incredibly hard after the first 8 episodes that I am unable to understand how anyone could like this shit show of illogical behavior and screaming. Is the novel any different than this?

It made me decide to kill myself tbqh
Gonna finish off my backlog then end it.

Anime is the worst version

Novel has more drug abuse, more self hate, more paranoia, is more depressing and hopeless for Satou in general. Worst and most realistic ending for him too.

see you tomorrow on /r9k/
Misaki friday!

>Novel has more drug abuse
Wait so is that the reason for the talking furniture? The anime didnt even elaborate on that part, they simply existed for some reason. But if hes a junky this would finally make sense.

It's already been 8 years and there's still no Misaki around. The Misaki is a lie. It's all a lie.

Satou's drug abuse was blink-and-you'll-miss-it in the anime

I gave up waiting for my Misaki, so I actively try to go out and talk to people. Maybe that's what the point of the show was, I dunno.

You don't want a psychotic woman like that to fix you. You go fix yourself. Trust me, I waited years for those three little knocks but they never came. Well, it happened once but it was the postman but he didn't seem interested in the idea.

But they left Hitomi's in plain view

>the novel
Satou is a legitimately awful person

Yeah he does multiple lines of coke

Don't involve yourself with a woman as messed up as you. Sort yourself out, then maybe you can help sort others.

I actually have a non-malevolent Misaki in my life but she has a girlfriend

I think they waved them off as performance-boosting pills like caffeine or something. They were very clear about not stating what kind of pills they were.

I remember multiple pages being about Satou explaining legal buy-through-internet drugs and how he abused those

A couple other things from the novel that I wish were in the anime were Yamazaki making a bomb and the two of them following Misaki to her religious cult meeting and watching her uncomfortably give a speech

That doesnt even imply abuse, might as well be prescription. Nice script they wrote there.

Meanwhile watching the anime I wondered how someone who has been a NEET/Hiki for 4 years wouldnt know basic shit about the internet even though owning a working computer.

>people still think they want a girlfriend with BPD
you fucking don't

She's not psychotic or bipolar tho. Just a regular case of codependency, sheltered parenting and being a dumb teenager going through a major loss in her life.

>manipulative and lying
>heavy family issues
>heavy co-dependency issues
>low self-esteem
>attempts suicide at one point
Sounds exactly like BPD to me, user.

Just because BPD is the current meme diagnosis doesn't mean it has to be hammered into everything that moves and is a bit confused with life. She's a sweet little qt patootie and just needs a father figure and maybe a good dicking in her life.

I'm an anime-only fag tho even though I did own the novel in the past, so my image might be warped. Never read it and gave it away.

BPD can be diagnosed quite clearly, user
but feel free to ditch everything as "memes", i really hope you will find a girl like that so you can see how badly it usually goes irl and how much life she will suck out of you, and i'm saying this without any lewd connotations

that face tho

I remember the opening theme being real damn catchy.

I've had my share of shit 3DPD ty, it's why I'm here drunk crying for a Misaki at 4 AM. And codependent and manipulative neighbourhood girls are kinda my particular thing, pic related.

Drugs were in the source material but they axed it for the anime.

The point wasn't that you should wait for a cute grill to solve your problems.

you can't wait on someone to come into your life and make everything magically go right; If you want your life to change, (you) need to change for yourself.
yep

its also not at all the type of drug that he took in the novel. he was using one of those branded RC things, and it was a psychedelic described as similar to lsd.

pic related is the type of packaging these come in, but note that the things branded as bath salts in the media is mdpv or apvp not a psychedelic like what satou used.

definitely wasnt coke. was probably a 2c or something similar.

You shut your whore mouth. She'll come one day.

>(you)
>not (You)
(You)

user, you can't live in denial forever. You'll have to wake up to reality eventually
Thank you

>Sup Forums now tells you to abandon your waifu and submit to 3DPD roasties

If only m00t hadn't abandoned us you would've been banned to hell with a smug Asuka picture to go with it.

There's no GODDESS but Misaki and anime is her Prophet!

What can I say?

Someone called?

>finish off my backlog
guess you're immortal then

I liked novel Satou more than his anime self. Novel Yamazaki was an asshole though.

It's shit. Nothing to discuss.

Not coke, he crushes prescription pills and snorts that

>that time Satou described the time he took MDMA
>he described it in enough detail that you just know the author had taken it and was writing about his own trip
>wiki says MDMA wasn't made illegal until long after the book was written
I missed my window there

>literally all it took for Yamazaki to stop hating women and calling them whores was for a cute girl to like him
Is this book saying something?

>Is the novel any different than this?

The novel is practically an autobiography. The author even said he can't read it himself because it's all far too personal.

jeez, i'm sorry I looked it up

The book contains some hidden truths that are told indirectly

Yes user, that even the most fervent "3DPG GTFO" people would probably change their mind if a genuinely nice girl showed interest in them. Even Madarame in Genshiken who was full into 2D said he wouldn't mind having a gf, he just didn't think it would ever happen.

fuckoff this has to be fake
everybody stop buying NHK shit so he can get poor again and has to write manga

He actually did write some stuff since.

I don't know why the NHK author is always put on blast for being going back to his old habits. Plenty of authors write about characters overcoming suicide and end up offing themselves after the book. Shouldn't affect what was in the book.

he's engaged in some spirituality bullshit now

He's done some stuff since but it's not fake. That paragraph is written at the end of the second edition of the novel. It's in my copy. It was probably the thing that hit me the hardest when I finished reading and one of the biggest reasons doing so changed my life

It made me give up.

Fucking "lesbian" as Misaki. Begone nigga

It was sublime. Possibly my favorite anime opening of all time.

I saw nhk a long time ago when I was pretty young but I really do believe "it's never too late to change your hikikamori ways" at least in that I think it's always possible to change yourself for the better. Not that it is or every gets easy

if you dont like the anime i dont think you'd like the novel

that stuff is still there in the novel.

probably, it's a case of you being unable to relate to the mc because of some disparity in psyche

Nobody can save you but yourself.
You're responsible for all the problems in your life.
People never really change.

>mfw hitori no tame no lullaby on a hot summer day

the nhk soundtrack is just crushing, i have no idea how pearl kyoudai did it

Holy shit. Even he couldn't escape from his own story

>Graduated college this past May
>Unemployed, no job lined up, down to my last $1500
>Instead of job searching, decide to spend the past three months wasting every single day on anime, video games, and alcohol
>Lie to friends and family saying that I've been getting job interviews, and that I have a job set to start in two weeks
>Start watching NHK this past week
I think this show actually has convinced me to kms in the near future.

>I think this show actually has convinced me to kms in the near future.

Literally this show is about how crippling starvation is the only way to force you to interact with society such that you can survive.

Just watched this last month. Only complaint is that it spent a bit too much time on side characters, and didn't flesh out the ending enough.
Would reading the novel/manga be a good choice? (as in, is there enough of a difference to warrant reading)

Yes.

Novel is really short, mostly the same as anime with only few arc differences/exclusive arcs to it, but overall similar in message of afterword 1. Manga takes darker and edgier turn, more graphic, and generally settled on more afterword 2 ending of the noval (it does have a somewhat positive ending in a way).

I'd recommend the noval, though myself I didn't find the manga very good. See for yourself if you like either.
