LoGH is awful in a lot of aspects but I really enjoyed it from beginning to end. It is the perfect example (at least in my opinion) of a show that does some things so well it completely overshadows the rather large flaws.

All of the drives for both factions use water as their propellant, and the blue space lasers are neutron and electron beam cannons. Most of the huge explosions you're seeing are the result of explosive decompressions and hits to fusion cores.

I watched the show for the first time recently and enjoyed the imperial storyline far more. Attenborough's and Poplan's banter was kind of amusing, but it's not fair to rate the FPA scenes based on their interactions when there are so many forgettable characters in the FPA that eat up screentime.
