They just hit better for teenagers. Bleach was about badass schoolboy beating people and ghosts up, Naruto was about rebellious kid partaking in serious ninja wars. Like Twighlight or Hunger Games they very effectively struck their target audience. Compared to that OP was too kid-friendly, so teenagers would never touch it even if just from fear of looking too immature and kids that would like it were too young to be able to discover it.
