Ibanez guitars are way better than that dog shit Gibson instruments.

Every spare penny is going on housing and travel.
No time for guitars, gotta save hard if I want to move off planet in 20 years.

maybe if Gibson actually made an affordable line of decent instruments and stopped getting fined for using Endangered woods to make them they would probably be doing better, I love Gibson but their CEO's are fucking idiots.

Who the fuck plays guitar anymore? All it is good for was making great music and getting pussy, but music is now watered down and contrived, and modern roast pussy is worthless

lol you're a fucking idiot.

Luckily I stand to inherit one from when they were actually good guitars. Need to learn to play, am a bass guy myself.

gibson is like the harley davidson of motorcycles. Trash. Of course they go out of business.

This is caused by jews jewing other jews. If they hadn't popularized nigger music, which you can make in your own home for free, they'd still be able to sell these instruments.

Culture is disappearing. You don't need a Gibson to play rap music. And Mexicans only play mariachi.

Picture the whitest thing you can think of, and see if it's going bankrupt. Rock, and kids rock bands.

What else is predominantly white?

maybe racking up tons of debt to sell an instrument thats losing popularity to rap music machines wasnt brilliant afterall?

seems like the only people left that play guitar are youtube ecelebs and they probably wont buy more than 1 after they see how hard it is to earn shekels playing shitty songs to an audience primarily composed of trolls.

>electric guitar companies think they're God's gift to the earth
>charge exhorbitant prices based on literally nothing other than delusional boomer market demand
>are surprised when people start to see through the bullshit

Electric guitars in general are the choice for shit players. The entirety of the culture surrounding electric guitars is artificial, mass manufactured consumerist bullshit.

Play a real guitar and stop wasting the instrument's endless polyphonic capabilities.

This is great fuck (((gibson))) why dont the goyim want to pay $5000 for a les paul that is half as good as one from 50 years ago. Die.

They make most of their trash guitars in Mexico now anyways. They're going the way of ford motors.

Hockey still safe?

Nailed it. It's all drum machines and auto-tune these days. No musical ability required.

Because the medium and small companies are ALL dying. Only big corps are surviving. Come on, ask me for proof capitalist shills

Peak capitalism, guys

Guitars are a funny part of the economy. I play guitar and have a number of them, Martin HD35, PRS Custom 22, Fender Talon, and a Gibson Explorer are a few. When it comes to a big company, like Gibson, who have been making great guitars for decades and decades and a large number of them are still out there you reach a point where everyone who plays well enough to want one and can afford it HAS one. Sometimes success can be it’s own enemy. There is still room for low end guitars and even a small business making very high end guitars but it is very easy to find an older Gibson that plays as well as a new one for less.

As a guitar player, I'd never buy a Gibson. I've never owned one. I'd sooner pay 1500 dollars for a nice Fender or 2500 for a PRS than blow 3500 on a Les Paul "Custom" that plays worse than a 500 dollar LTD Eclipse. Their quality has gone down since the early 90s, and the Epiphone line is absolutely junk.

Gibson makes acoustics too faggot, quite good ones. And your hatred for electricover acoustic is the most autistic shit I've ever heard. Every guitar player loves both.

>PRS Custom 22

noice

but most electric guitar players can also play acoustic and play electric because the range is larger and it allows for effects.
See Buckethead, or Malmsteen for example.

so after 130 years of it being peak capitalism it's finally actually peak capitalism? and all the contradictions will finally become so acute the whole thing will cave in on itself?

Gibsons acoustics are nice, I'll give you that, but they're WILDLY overpriced. Like, a couple thousand dollars too expensive.

Because a very small group of large companies are making 99% of the profit

Gibson has had problems for years. They're product line has been a mess for years. Quality control has been going down for years while prices go up.

People just want the classics. They don't need 10 different iterations of each guitar model. Most customers don't want self tuning guitars and "modernized" versions of classics. They just want the classics, that's why the vintage stuff if so coveted.

It blows my mind when I see companies run like this. They're just completely out of touch. When I was a kid there was a Les Paul Custom, Les Paul Standard, SG Standard, SG Custom, Explorer Reissue, Flying V Reissue, Firebird, ES-335, ES-135, ES-175, Acoustics...and then you could get stuff Like Byrdlands etc from the custom shop. Nice and simple.

Whitest sport in NA ...

>What else is predominantly white?

Sailing. It's far more useful too.

It's not just guitars. Iconic companies like Harley Davidson and Remington firearms are also circling the drain.

>Every guitar player loves both.
This is false. I've got nothing against them though.

Boomer activities are circling the drain.

Their guitars just aren't that good anymore, either. I played a lot of expensive Gibson's in my 25 years of guitar playing and I can't say I've ever wanted to buy one.

Definitely a contributing factor for HD. Poor quality control sank Remington.

eig.org/dynamism

I'm talking about a classical music you stupid faggots, play some real music, challenge yourself to use the instrument to its fullest potential.
Also
For the price of a Gibson acoustic(in between 2-4k), you can locate a Luthier to build you a guitar that will blow it out of the water.

Remington was acquired by some (((corporation))) and they kept having safety recalls. Harley hasn't doesn't anything innovative in decades, and you can buy a Japanese cruiser for 1/3 of the price. It's no wonder they can't compete. Not to mention motorcycles are kind of going out of style now.

the gibson jew won't lower their prices. it's their fault.

Yawn... National crisis!

Harley-Davidson is going bankrupt too. All the boomer staples are getting fucked.

A lot of people still play but they realize that its just for fun and to entertain small groups of people. I don't think many guitar players dream of getting rich and famous off it anymore.

>Does not understand the bankruptcy and debt restructuring are a common aspect of any business or leveraged asset.

I'm happy with my cheap Yamaha western guitar. This whole shit seems like that audiophile crap to me. 99% of all people on earth can't tell the difference and the others are lying.

>Economics 101
If you're sitting on a shit ton of debt and your creditors won't let you negotiate down the interest on your liabilities, then just file bankruptcy.
Filing BK is how savvy businesses force their creditors restructure their debt.

>why do companies that run unsustainable business models collapse when their crutches are taken from under them?
businesses go bankrupt for a reason

They are so flipping expensive. You can find good alternatives for a fraction of the price. You are just buying the name.

it's called a fraud

You are paying for their reputation in electric guitars with a Gibson acoustic, I prefer Martin or Taylor If I'm going to get a high end acoustic.

Yeah, I made the mistake of buying a non-weight relieved Les Paul Standard limited edition a few years back. The fret work, and fingerboard were a mess. Ridiculous, inexcusable, tooling marks in the rosewood fingerboard. Really bad finish work with the nitro on the body. Sent it right back.

It is. It is my “favorite” although, like tools, different guitars do different things. The Fender Talon is incredible. Thinnest necked shredder you will ever play. The Gibson Explorer is a screamer like the Les Paul but not with that “chunk of firewood” neck. Somehow the PRS has a wide neck that plays like a narrow neck and for the life of me I cant figure out how they do it.

Henry (((Juszkiewicz)))

Yeah Martin and Taylor have a decent range of acoustics below 1000 dollars. I think Seagull's are the nicest of the budget acoustics though. They always seem to have nice necks and decent tone.

well, their guitars are too fucking expensive.

I have a GS-mini and I swear its some of the best money I've ever spent. Perfect guitar to keep next to the desk. Taylor 4 life

Every guitar player should have acoustic around just to pick up and strum whenever you get the urge.

Rock, motorcycles, atv, snowmobile, hot rodding, drag racing, "street racing"

Not enough disposable income, not enough testosterone to care.

It will come back though.

I honestly don't know Gibson's business model, but they're probably just desperately trying to expand their market when the market for guitars, especially expensive ones that Gibson associates its brand with, is limited. Sure, new people buy guitars, people buy new guitars, but if you're a skilled player you often might have your eye only on higher end or vintage models. Most people buy a guitar and they're done, they've got their guitar.

I really like dual humbucker american strats. I tried the PRS SE line but they can't take the amount of abuse I put my guitars through. I play so aggressively I have to string my guitars with at least 12s, and they're constantly going out of tune.

(((juszkiewicz)))

You could get a Santa Cruz, Collings or Huss and Dalton for $4k. High end Martins can be great but Gibsons and Taylors are meh even at the high end.

> ifff ecconome is good why do bad companies still fail?
Because some people are just that dumb.

There is massive consumer confidence and spending currently, they are failing due to their own issues, companies come and go all the time, random instrument manufacturer filing bankruptcy has little to do with the econemy overall

whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/executive-order-blocking-property-persons-involved-serious-human-rights-abuse-corruption/

Maybe the same reason lots of rich fuckers are selling their stocks and estates like crazy right now

>For the price of a Gibson acoustic(in between 2-4k), you can locate a Luthier to build you a guitar that will blow it out of the water.
This. in this price range just find a luthier and build exactly what you want.

There just aren't enough good guitarists around who can justify having like a 5000$ guitar. What for? That's like buying some high end katana to cut grapefruits in the backyard.

Ever play a Fender Talon? I like it much more than my son’s Strat.

Gibson ran their own company into ground. over priced stuff with really shitty production. no quality control. i own a music store. gibson has been tainted for decades. nice try tho.

Stop projecting. Whenever I've had the urge to strum, I just use one of my classical. I've never had the urge to use an electric or steel stringed guitar for anything.

Price going up, quality going down. Auto tuners and other digital shit killed their products.

Gibson lost their way and started to acquire other companies and the gamble didn't pay off. Now is the time to pay the toll.

but plenty of guitarists do play classical pieces both on acoustic and on electric

>maybe if Gibson actually made an affordable line of decent instruments

They do, it's called Epiphone

>It was long suspected that the Gibson raid was a political hit, carried out because CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, made campaign donations to Republicans. The financial disruption to the company was considerable – a $250,000 settlement, a $50,000 payoff to environmentalist groups, over $2 million in legal fees, plus the cost of being essentially shut down for a while by the raid.

The Gibson CEO gave money to the wrong party and like the IRS, FBI, DOJ and EPA a federal department was weaponized to attack politcal opponents of with vague laws and forcing donations to left connected groups.

video games are destroying some hobbies, like guitar playing. plus men don't care about impressing women anymore, so why waste so much time learning guitar??

I haven't, but I like Strats. I have huge fingers, so the longer board is nice. I mostly play blues and classic rock anymore these days.

Taylor and Gibson Acoustics are so overbuilt, it's amazing anyone can hear them.
Martin guitars I can actually appreciate, but I know of much cheaper guitars that sound as good or better.
Believe it or not, Cordoba, a classical guitar company introduced an all solid line of guitars that sounded as good or better than several Martins I had played.
The Cordoba D9-11 series didn't sell worth a fuck and was discontinued though, mostly because people are dumb fucks when it comes to brand recognition.

>Gibson ran their own company into ground. over priced stuff with really shitty production. no quality control. i own a music store. gibson has been tainted for decades. nice try tho.

So what do you think this will mean for the pricing? If Gibson goes under do the guitar values go up thanks to limited distribution? Or, since they're already overvalued will there be a market reset?

>If milk is good for the bones, why is that guy allergic?
You sound like a retard.

>plenty of
Not enough for the company to not be going bankrupt, evidently. That's the point.

You can pick out a dozen examples but a dozen people buying guitars can't keep a company afloat. Your point is silly.

I don't think any serious guitar players give a shit about any non vintage Gibson products.

Harley Davidson has been at deaths door for years, propped up only by some very shady practices. I heard about this years ago and I'm actually amazed they're still in business. I thought they'd gone under already.

That's the problem with all sorts of boomer brands, they're going out of business because they fucked up.

They decided to chase old boomers and not put out cheap products that the 25 ish year old millennial could afford. This is also what's killing Harley Davidson. All these luxury goods don't have cheap entries for you to then buy a "real" version in 5 years.

Look at honda with their grom. Dirt cheap and fun. Base MSRP of $3,500. If you start with that, you might later upgrade to a $40,000 goldwing. Cheapest harley you can buy is nearly 8,000 dollarydoos.

This is whay happens when you decide to give Wheeler Walker Jr as many guitars as he wants for free.

most professionals or advanced hobbyists already own like 5-10 guitars, the problem of guitar manufacturing companies is that they overspend in making garbage that no one wants to buy instead of focusing on the models that people want, making specific models on orders and taking care of support like piano companies do.

>expand company to make way more guitars than needed
>file for bankruptcy

lol welp

Alll the boomer linked companies fucked up by not releasing cheaper models that the next generation could afford and make "theirs". When you think of harley davidson, you could have thought of old people on roadkings and young people your age on whatever was their $4,000 model.

Nope. They decided to cater only to boomers and are now acting shocked that 60 year olds are not buying motorcycles. Why the fuck do you think they released a trike?

One of my “other” guitars is a 1973 Yamaha FG-160E. Incredible guitar. Great for fingerpicking. Sound is as good or better than my Martin.

>The Cordoba D9-11 series didn't sell worth a fuck and was discontinued though, mostly because people are dumb fucks when it comes to brand recognition.

The trouble is the guitar marketing is so ingrained even the shills themselves believe it. For electric especially, all this talk of "tonewood" is just absurd nonsense. It literally does not matter. It cannot matter. It's an electric instrument and it carries no wood based data at all, it's a magnet relaying string vibration.

You can do sonic tests on all woods and compare it to a metal or plastic guitar body and it doesn't fucking matter.

Things that do matter, people don't care about; the winding of the pickups, the pickup type, placement, height, string height, wire and internal insulation to stop interference in the sound quality.
Hell one of the best things you can do for your sound setup is buy a shorter cable for recording. Some people try rocking 3-4 meter cables for "freedom of movement" not realizing ever meter degrades signal quality. Your gear, right now, will sound better by just shortening the cable length.

>I don't think any serious guitar players give a shit about any non vintage Gibson products.

Well it's not all about the serious players, we're talking about gauging idiots here.

What's a good guitar in the $300 range? I want to upgrade from the $50 one I was using to practice on.

If you have fat fingers like me I would think the PRS Custom would fit you. The Talon has strings that are so close together one has to really play with absolute perfect technique which can be helpful. Somehow my PRS makes it much easier and you don’t have to be exquisitely meticulous.

epiphpone used to be alright before Gibson bought them out. but they're all made in china now. they dont have the old Gibson quality either.... if you buy an epiphone congrats you just wasted your money...

That’s actually the previous admin’s fault for banning the importation of ebony wood. I own a les Paul. It is a big, heavy, beautiful instrument, and I doubt your average modern rock soy boy would even be able to lift it

Tone is all in your hands anyway, dude. The guitar players that go on and on and on and on about tone are almost always the ones with the worst tone.

Marlin IIRC has had problems with their newer rifles as well.

Gibson has been shitting the bed big time for the last several years. This is all Gibson's fault. Their reputation is in the shitter these days.

Found the faggot virgin. Go back to Sup Forums.

Depends on what kind of music you play

I was just checking and surprised to see a couple Yamaha FG-160s on eBay for $250-300. I don’t know I would buy a guitar off eBay, though. It could have a serious problem. Like needing a neck reset.

ive always thought harleys were garbage, I like Indians better. But off course they went under, and Gibson did! but off course they dropped them b/c "muh boomers". I own a 2011 Melody maker re issue. I like it. theyre an entry level one and fairly decent. Now all they have is their shit Firebird zero and sg fusion lines. Fuck gibson man,

What kind of music do you mostly enjoy playing?

youtube and Songsterrr. Tabs are your best friend unless you can read music

Winter Olympics.

Indians came back. Like, I like the style of classic american motorcycles, but where the fuck is their version of the Honda 250? Why the fuck don't they have a 3-5k option for a starter motorcycle? I'm not going to drop 8 fucking grand on a motorcycle I'm going to out grow.

I really want a modern indian chief vintage. But not for 21 fucking grand. There's no reason for me to get brand loyalty towards them without a cheap learning motorcycle for me to upgrade to.

But if I just buy a grom, then I'll probably end up with a gold wing.
