Cookie cutter shonuen with bland characters and plot but executed decently.

It got popular. Also its fanbase is pretty cancerous. Just like any huge fanbase.

Same thing that goes wrong with nearly every shounen. The interesting characters and powers aren't enough to carry it through the bland and predictable plot.
