Welcome to the Mars Independent General. This thread is dedicated to the discussion of creating a European Colony on Mars, not by direct funding, but through the commercial emigration scheme that will eventually come into play. This is real. This is going to happen. We need you to consider the choice. Mars Aeternum.
The first Mars Colony is predicted to be established as early as 7 years from now. Very quickly the colony is going to expand, and Elon Musk has made it clear that commercial emigration will come in to play only a few years later. This means the first large influx of settlers over the next 50 years are going to be families who sell their properties on Earth for the ticket. Only people who can afford to move there will be able to. lets face it - a majority european colony on mars is the only way to truly secure the 14 words. >Plan: /mig/ is a new general and a work in progress. feel free to contribute ideas. Essentially, once the colonisation effort becomes commercial, we need to move there.
/mig/ >inb4 space is fake kys >inb4 muh economics kys >inb4 STOP LARPING the short term goal of this general is to simply re-inspire our fellow Nationalists, Fascists & Racialists on the subject of space exploration & colonisation. We hope to promote a new positive attitude towards life on Mars amongst those who value the future of the European peoples. ./The general will be posted a few times a week or a few times a day.
This is definitely not about abandoning the problems we have here on Earth, we believe that the European peoples are not only strong enough to overcome those problems, but are able to dedicate themselves on multiple fronts, Mars is that other front.

I was thinking of noun to use when adding to the Plan section of OP Expansionism ? European Martianism ? what are your thoughts ? also, previous thread next thread will be tomorrow at 10pm GMT. I don't usually post the general two days in a row, but fuck it.

>interesting read French 3D-printing company Fabulous has brought together a team of scientists and architects to imagine a bubble-shaped habitat for Mars that can be printed on the red planet. The Sfero house features an internal and external dome, with a protective pocket of water between the two. A single corridor rests on the planet's surface and allows access to the interior, which would have an upper and lower level linked by a spiral staircase. The house would start off as a central drilling rod that burrows several metres into the planet's soil to extend two robotic arms, which would harvest materials to be used for 3D-printing the habitat's internal and external dome-shaped shells. The spherical shape has been designed to offer high resistance to Mars' low atmospheric density. The design aims to use the red planet's abundance of iron oxide – discovered in dust samples and rocks brought back by NASA's Pathfinder rovers – which would form the raw material for 3D printing. The powdered iron particles would then be fused together by laser, and the levels of the habitat printed layer by layer. The arms would also seek out permafrost – soil that has been at or below freezing for at least two years – to be melted and used as a 30-centimetre-wide water pocket in between the two shells to protect against solar radiation. Fabulous founder Arnault Coulet believes the water layer could be a "permanent psychological reminder of the main element of the mother planet – water constituting a sort of protective amniotic fluid for humans."

I've seen a few threads over the past few days attempting to discuss this topic in similar ways, "Ethnostate On Mars", "Is this our only hope" ETC /mig/ is the go to general for this topic, as time goes by we'll be having more serious discussion and the I'l also be including various news in regards to Space X, space exploration in general & some of Elons other companies. Contribution, suggestions on what to include in OP and general discussion is welcomed.

Did you watch the movie "The Martian"? There are so many problems and challenges to overcome. The technology doesn't even exist yet. Forget about petty, frivolous ethnostates.

Venus is pretty hot. The only way to really live there would be in Zeppelin like structures that float freely around the upper-stratosphere

You guys focus on mars while we figure out how to cool down/establish an ethnostate on venus, then we can strike against earth, destroy it with kinetic bombs and reclaim it for ourselves.

please the first 100 astronauts will be split evenly along AA lines.
Jace Ross
You think the colonies he'll set up will be 100%huwhite?
Camden James
AA Lines ? .... The first 100 astronauts will be chosen for their skills, and abilities to not fuck everything up. It will be planned like a military operation (like every other space related endeavour) there will be no diversity scheme, if thats what you meant.
Chase Garcia
The colonies of mars should match their namesake. Mandatory military training and service for all voters.
Noah Taylor
How do you know that? Did Musk say that?
Nolan Moore
The colony he sets up will initially be inhabited by people chosen specifically for their skills, like a military operation. Yes there are going to be non-whites, which is why i said in OP that we need to make sure /ourguys/ get there in the commercial phase, because a majority of non-whites won't even be able to afford the ticket at first... we need to take advantage of that.
Jaxon Ramirez
Just because Elon Musk is from South Africa doesn't mean he supported apartheid.
Connor Smith
its obvious, its going to be planned like a military operation... if (for example) there is only 1 black guy who passes the training needed to make it on the first ship, then there will only be one black guy. They're not going to risk the initial progress of the colony by sending a few somalians for "muh diversity"
Easton Bailey
Mars cannot happen. 0.38g, mate. 0.38g. You cannot change the g.
Right? Ok? But that still means we don't know how he wants to set this up.

Unfortunately, The UAE (united arab emirates) is already dumping millions into their own colony projects... which is partly why this general is so important, because we need /ourguys/ to be prepared to make the move. niggers have no chance though lol, they wont even be able to afford the tickets.... desu, i don't even think most blacks would want to leave earth anyway.
Jaxson Flores
Teraforming mars is impossible.
1) the core isn't active so it can't produce a magnetic field 2) even if we used an artificial magnetic field on an object far away from mars to block radiation from the sun there still is no atmosphere 3) even if we were able to produce an atmosphere, mars lacks the mass to be able to prevent oxygen, as well as lighter elements, from escaping
You can talk about colonizing mars but not teraforming it
Matthew Bell
surface grav on Mars is 38% that of earth, its hardly a problem. we've spoken about this in previous threads....exercise, weight-lifting etc should combat the effects of low grav on the body.
William Murphy
>1) you don't need a fully established magnetic field to terraform >2) see ^^^ >3) see ^^^^^^ lol In short, just because a fully terraformed Mars might not turn out to be possible, a "half-terraformed" Mars could easily still be within our grasp.... even if it means genetically modifying species of tree to cope with the harsh enviroment.
>You can talk about colonizing mars but not terraforming it this is partly true, but you have definitely gotten a bit carried away with the whole "terraformin mars is impossible" thing.
Parker Stewart
Stay the fuck off our planet human!
Matthew Rodriguez
Training in 1g and training in 0.38g is very different, if humans do adapt to live in that low gravity then they would be substantially weaker than humans on earth and probably wouldn't be able to visit earth without robotic exoskeletons. The reproduction questions is also a problem, if you can't reproduce in 0.38 or if it's signifficantly harder than in 1g it would take a huge toll on the birthrates, lets not even get starter on fetus development in lower g.
Jonathan Collins
This whole Mars thing is a stunt. Musk isn't going to Mars, there are too many hurdles both technological and economical.
Logan Perry
there is no confirmation on what exactly the complications of birth would be on Mars. As far as i know, we plan to first test on small mammals, then biggers mammals before finally deciding to move onto humans. If the problems are in relation to the women and not initial growth of the fetus then we can just produce the children in labs, but if grav complicates fetus development then that will be a problem.

So you want a partially established magnetic field? How is that different from what I described?
You still didn't respond to my point about mass. If gas escapes the planet you can't have an atmosphere that is beneficial to us
Cameron Evans
The regolith on Mars is very fine and can get in between cells in the lung and skin, and will very likely cause cancer by the same mechanism as asbetos. Furthermore the entirety of the surface of the planet is awash in hypertoxic perchlorates. All materials will have to be completely cleared of Mars dust before they can enter human habitable zones. This puts extreme constraints on the logistics of direct planetary colonization.

basically you only need enough atmosphere to replace what is being swept away by the solar wind caused by lack of magnetic field, im ngl it's pretty complicated to explain and i'm not an expert in this shit. None of that should be a problem since we'll be wearing space suits when we are outside, decontamination zones between the airlocks and habitats should enough to keep all the dust & shit out.

First we need to talk about how we can get to LEO. Because once you are in Low Earth orbit, you've already made it halfway to anywhere you want to go. Reusable rockets is a good first step, making lift capabilities cheaper makes it more likely that space will leave the domains of governments and multinationals into more private hands. Smaller orbital rockets like the Electron rocket made by Rocket Lab in New Zealand also help with this.
Wyatt Rodriguez

But rockets are not enough, even the greenest rocket (a hybrid-fuel rocket that uses HDPE (shredded tires) and Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas)) still produces a considerable amount of pollutants and causes lots of noise damage. Which could make environmental regulations snap shut on private space travel before it starts. One of the possible solutions, fellow Sup Forumslocks, is the Bifrost Bridge. Named so because it uses multiple colored lasers to boost a payload into orbit. The basic gist is this: you build a massive railgun underground that curves upwards and exits at the top of a mountain high enough where air friction is lessened, at the back of this capsule is a rocket nozzle that opens up into a large reservoir of water ice. Ground based lasers shoot at the ice turning it into steam, which is then propelled out the back like conventional rocket exhaust. The lasers must be in different colors to deal with air and steam refracting different wavelengths at different times. This means that the only waste product is steam and any noise pollution will only effect various lichens and vulcanologists, which are both known for their hardiness.
There even is a perfect candidate mountain, located near the perfect latitude, and having the perfect altitude: Mt. Kilimanjaro. The problem is that its in Tanzania, which means its subject to Tanzanian laws.
Jeremiah Baker
Yeah definitely, it seems likely that there will be vast subterranean structures. They are going to take a while to construct though, first robots we send to mars will only be able to print small habitats with only slight shielding capabilities.
Jeremiah Foster
Then let me spell it out for you, idiot. Will there be a money system? Will there be a system of government that dolls out money? Will there be a commissary will there be a place for you to buy things at this commissary? This is economics. People have wants. People have needs. Do you plan to have a structure of money or will they trade fucking rocks and gas with each other? Also if you don't plan this ahead people will make their own form of currency as amicable forms of currency as they do it in prison.
Owen Gomez
>go to mars >die from lack of adequate gravity, can't conceive children in Mars' puny gravitational pull
Jonathan Campbell
I will note that you can build this in the ocean too, where your craft is shot out of the railgun at sea-level. However, this requires more of your payload weight to have to be used for heat-shielding instead.
Noah Mitchell
