Enforce the laws that are already in place.

More pressure on the police to enforce current law. More pressure on the FBI to focus on public safety instead of political intrigue.

Everyone who knew Cruz saw that he was a ticking time bomb. The faculty, foster family, police, and FBI all knew about him. If the police had actually forced him into an asylum or actually charged him with a crime when he threatened students at school with a knife he wouldn't have been eligible to buy that rifle.

Last year's Texas church shooting could have also been prevented using current law if the military paper pushers had reported the shooter's dishonorable discharge properly. Again, no need for new laws. We need to enforce the laws we have.

Beyond that, there should be more metal detectors or armed security at schools. They already do this for court houses. I was say a school is just as important as a court house.

There's only banning or not banning. There's no half measure that can solve it. And banning is not gonna happen. So what do you do? Ban bump stocks? Do little bullshit to try and appease the public so they think you did something?

There's no way to stop it except for a ban and confiscation. So frankly, we just have to live with it. An attempt at a ban would lead to civil war, and surprise, the guys with the guns would win. So we need to look at real ways to deal with the mental health angle, as well as identifying and stopping these little shits before they ruin the fun for everyone.

No one is stopping anyone from doing that research. In fact no one is stopping gun violence research, either. The only research that's banned are studies that suggest gun control as a solution.

The right to bear arms is what allows for the safety of the nation from tyranny. The unintended consequence of modern day school shootings does not outweigh that benefit. Additionally, removal of one method of destruction (modern firearms) does not prevent application of alternative methods to kill unsuspecting innocents. Bombs seem like a logical alternative as well as trapping students in a structure and using an accelerant to burn the school down with them inside. Vehicles will also work as seen by recent terrorist trends. Chemicals can me easily obtained that when properly combined create deadly gasses. It’s too late to remove the ability to cause mass casualties from the equation. Trying to ban what is largely a tool for law abiding Americans in order to prevent criminality is short sighted and wrong. And that’s assuming that the real reason behind a call to ban guns is genuine and not an ulterior motive.
