All they needed to do was not trick the animeonlyfags into thinking she was a potential love interest so they wouldn't be disappointing later on, but no, they had to create something beautiful, so now we have to suffer the righteous indignation of bestgirlfags whining about their waifu's unrequited love for all eternity.

I think the author intended for Subaru to end with Emilia in the end, but Rem's explosive popularity might have made him change his mind, although Rem:IF's existence doesn't play in the favor of this argument.

When she killed Subaru it was because she was scared that he was a witch cultist and might hurt her friends and Ram. even though she didn't really have any evidence to support this. Then when she finally got enough reason to care about Subaru and not consider he might be a cultist she fell for him so hard that she immediately went out hunting for the beasts in an effort to save his life without thinking it fully through. Then she did it again when she left Subaru behind and went up to the mansion only to be killed by Witch cultists.

Not later. In the LN and WN, he pretty much ends up falling for her before where the anime ended.
She tried to roofie Subaru once. Is clearly obsessive, has shit self-esteem, and has a quite nasty side to her. She slowly and methodically tortured a man to death.when she was 8, and felt nothing about it afterward. In fact, she never seems to show any inhibition or aversion towards violence and cruelty. She's "joked" about brutalizing and killing people before, in that sort of way where you know she's not really joking at all.

I know you guys will probably disagree with me for this, but I really want a season 2. I want to see more of my rem, so I've bought all the light novels and manga hoping that I'll help in making it a possibility.

It would've been so much better if she didn't fall in love with the MC. I would love to see more interactions between the twins after Rem knew to stop being substitute for her sister. But no, she had to stick with the MC for no goddamn reason.

She's way fucking better than Emilia though. Even if Rem didn't fall in love with Subaru I still wouldn't have liked Emilia all that much.

But it's not force though. She loves Subaru because he's a kind and caring, not bad looking, lad who made her feel better about being who she is and not always being in her sister's shadow. It makes a lot of sense. And he risked his life to save hers and a bunch of children. She sees him breaking down when he needs help the most and is there to help him back up like when he was there for her. It's the least forced romance in the entire show.

Rem is wonderfully supportive and loving towards Subaru, but, friends can be wonderfully loving and supportive. Emilia is what motivated Subaru to continue existing. In a timeline where Rem is a vegetable, Subaru is able to move forward for Emilia. He does not end the universe for the sake of Rem.

My prediction is that they will both marry Subaru. Emilia allowing this is what will allow her to conquer the Witch of Envy (she was able to give what she loved most, rather than hoard it). Granted, there is going to be a long and painful journey before we even get there.

He doesn't do that for Emilia at all. But yeah, he does it all the time with Rem. In the canon story the thought of saving Rem and being the hero she thinks he is drives him to keep on going. That's like the entire story of arc 6
