Nia would never have been found after she was thrown away, would have died inside that coffin.
It's debatable on whether or not they'd be able to overthrow Genome, but one thing is certain, Kamina would end up dying on a later fight, causing Simon, who never matured past the concept of loss to lose it and fuck it all up.
Kamina was weak in spiral power, but strong in heart; he served his purpose as being the hype man humanity deserved to get out of their downtrodden rut and to show Simon the way.
