Friends and sons are different things mate

Wanting your friends alive and remembering your sons' birthdays are two very different things

I agree, since when was Vegeta afraid of Bulma or his family at all? He should agree with Goku on that one.

I'm having a hard time believing this. It's like they want Goku to be hated by fans.

>I don't even know when Gohan and Goten were born

So was he completely unaware of their births or did he just forget their birthdays?

First obviously. The latter would only make sense if Vegeta was talking about one of the kids birthdays.

He was dead when Goten was born.

This is fake right?

Nope.

I loved when people were acting like this wouldn't happen in the manga either.

Looks like shitty brazilian fanfic

What a fucking alpha. What are getting mad about? reminder you will never be as free as Goku.

And. Here. We. Go. (past tense)
>Sun Wukong intelligently flees for life and liberty after paying proper respect to royalty on the day of what would become known as the Dorkest Day Under The Heavens; Year 1 of the Renewed Reign of The Eternal Emperor Piccolo

They're going too hard on this GOKU DOESN'T CARE ABOUT NOTHING BUT FIGHTING (But he's totally a good person, and everyone puts up with him anyway!), HE'S NOTHING LIKE SUPERMAN thing, because it's taking a shit all over canon (yes, manga canon), and serves no real purpose other than to make Goku look like a selfish asshole.

I'm not getting how we're going to go with the explaination of Goku has no concept of family!, when many actions, decisions and scenes play out because of family.

All of Goku's early life on Earth base because of his relationship with Grandpa Gohan. The whole Red Ribbon Arc begins with Goku looking for his Grandpa's momento, and it ends with a tearful reunion with Grandpa Gohan.

I mean, shit. Goku's son is named after Son Gohan, Goku's adoptive Grandpa! And if that's not enough, he's wearing his momento, the Four Star Dragonball! I mean, if he didn't care that much, he would really go that far? Or did Gohan just get his name because Goku came back after the birth and asked Chichi to feed him?
I mean, even further than that, Goku brought Gohan with him to meet his friends after so long. If Chichi's not going to let him train, why bother bringing him with? According to all this new information, he really don't give a shit about the boy.

So what, he grew out of it because MUH SAIYAN GENES? How does he grow out of it, and Vegeta grow into it? Isn't that a contradiction?

Besides the fact that this is just being done for lame jokes...instead of making Goku say/do something dumb because he doesn't know any better (which is fine), it just makes Goku come off like an abusive jerk just because they don't give a shit about canon (or don't have to because everyone makes excuses for it no matter what). Why the fuck hasn't Chichi just kicked him out of the house after all this new shit that's propping up?

>manlet that sounds like an old hag's impression of a little girl
>also a brainlet
Ehh I'm fine with it.

Goku is Chinese and you're surprised he has the emotional capacity of an insect?

...

That's fine. It's not like anyone told him, and him coming back for one day, was supposed to be something special.

Remember, Goku was trying really hard to stay dead and make sure everyone can pick up the slack, because he was really trying top ush the whole "bad shit keeps happening because I'm arround"/"I can't always be around to save the day" up until he was pretty much forced into taking action.

The idea that he didn't know about Gohan's birth is fucking ridiculous.

I mean, Christ. Remember all of those times when they would compare and contrasted Goku and Vegeta's relationships with their family? How the Buu Saga is kicked off by Vegeta having a midlife crisis, and wanted to fight at such a bad time, that not even Goku was having it until Vegeta started killing people? And even pitied him to the point that he didn't immediately got SSJ3 and crush Vegeta's body and spirit?

So much for that shit. Now I'm sure Goku only stayed dead so he could fight Strong Guys, and he fought Vegeta so he could see how strong Vegeta had gotten. Fuck the fate of the planet, fighting is always more important

I fucking love edits like this.

Recently having rewatched Crystal Skull. I don't get the hate. It has some pretty brilliant foreshadowing and it reminded me that the 2nd indi movie was just as bad.

>he thinks super is canon

>Vegeta being this badly pussy-whipped
This is why reviving him and making him a good guy was a fucking mistake

He was only ever good when he was a villain/anti-hero anyone who disagrees is a faggot

This
Manga Goku was not dumb and enjoyed fighting and shit but he was innocent and naive. He sort of remained this way until the saiyan saga.
He was acceptable in Namek/Freeza saga but after that he turned into a douchebag giving senzu beans to Cell and not killing Buu when he could...instead letting other take a shot at him for no reason.

Gotta admit I laughed

Maybe you should have had a better childhood idol Like Superman
And thus everyone starts spamming Superdickery stuff thinking it means something

Childhood is idolizing Goku
Adulthood is realizing Vegeta was right

Superman is a piss poor boring little shit. He was boring as boy scout, and then DC somehow made him even worse when DD turned him into a psycho by editorial mandate. inb4 but what about muh elseworlds storylines. Now go back to Sup Forumsmblr.

>During the same arc Vegeta goes berserk after his son is killed
>One arc later, Vegeta hugs his son tight just before killing himself to save him
>What is character development?

No adulthood is realizing Toriyama is a complete hack who couldn't write a decent story to save his life, but who happened to give birth to two staples of the battle shonen: transformations and flight+ki combat.

Fuck off. Up to Freeza arc, DB is legit one of the greatest action manga (comics in general really) ever put on paper. Period.

Stop lying or go choke on a cock. Namek arc was really great and Goku vs Frieza deserves its place as an iconic fight, but don't even try to act as if Red Ribbon shenanigans were anything better than his comfort-zone stupid silly comedy.

Go eat a bag of dicks. DB turned into a battle manga with some gags as soon as King piccolo was introduced faggot. In fact, many people and mangaka still regard Goku vs Piccolo Jr as THE BEST fight in manga history.

>He was acceptable in Namek/Freeza saga but after that he turned into a douchebag giving senzu beans to Cell and not killing Buu when he could

Even with that, you could argue that he did that because he had 100% faith that Gohan could pull it off, and after Cell had pretty much "lost" against Gohan, Goku was the one shouting about how "you should really kill Cell now, because we have no idea of what the fuck he'll do when he's desperate"

And in the Buu Saga, he stayed dead specifically because he took Bulma's statement of "people keep showing up to kill you" to heart. When he came back for that one day, he was really pushing the idea of that "You guys should really be able to handle this while I'm not here, because I might not be able to save all of you everytime" really hard up until the point when he was pretty much forced to come back.
When Vegeta flipped his shit for a stupid chance to fight Goku, Goku wasn't having it until Vegeta started killing people.

See, not everything about Goku was him being dumb and getting a chance to fight everyone, but now Goku is being turned into a shitheel who will literally give up anything and everything if it means getting to fight Strong Guys.

It's fucking ridiculous, even for this series. Are we really supposed to believe that he'd be able to ride Nimbus after this bullshit?

>DB is legit one of the greatest action manga (comics in general really) ever put on paper.
Nostalgia is a powerful drug.

Is not nostalgia though. The anime adaptation ranges from acceptable to horrible any given episode and people can say whatever they want about it, but Toriyama's technical skill to illustrate sequential art is top notch. how many artists can you actually name that are better than Toriyama?

>hugs his on tight
He literally knocks him unconscious.

>muh story
Narutard/FMAfag millennial spotted
Dragon Ball was never about the story

>Goku is more of a traditional Saiyan than Vegeta now
Bravo

Show your age a little harder. Shonen publishing prior to DB was wildly different. The impact this franchise had on the industry is massive. Battle shonen exist because Dragon Ball did it so well. A huge portion of the anime/manga front as you know it today exists because of the franchise, and a good number of the most prominent names in it were/are directly influenced by Toriyama and his work. This isn't really unknown shit, either. Don't try so hard to impress Sup Forums by hating popular things. Pick your battles, boy.

Superman was good when he actually was Superman.
What I mean by that is that he was good when the focus wasn't on his character but the amazing things he could do.

Look at the Fleischer era 1940's Superman Cartoon shorts for example. They're entertaining as fuck to watch because of this reason.

Red Ribbon arc was the best arc in the series you fucking tasteless nigger. I'm going to slit your fucking throat.

>comfort-zone stupid silly comedy.
How the fuck is comedy "comfort zone"
Grow up already you dumb teenager who thinks he's "deep"

It is you dumb shit. Go read the damn manga. Read the Tenkaichi Budokai arcs and just look at how easy it is to follow the fights because of Akira Toriyama's amazing artistic skill.

There's a reason majority of mangaka out there say they got influenced by Dragon Ball.

Goku cares about old Gohan because he took care of him and he grew emotionally attached to him, not because he viewed and understood Gohan as his adpotive (grand)parent. He has no cognition of orthodox family structure and behaviour beyond incredibly basic concepts of "it's a bunch of people that are supposed to be close to each other" The bastard doesn't even have half a clue what marrige is supposed to be after his engagement. So he doesn't know labour is supposed to be important, he just doesn't know any better, doesn't mean he doesn't care about his kids. He's inherently compassionate, but simply doesn't understand societal norms because nobody taught him about that shit.(this joke was played towards a lot in the manga, I'm surprised you didn't pick that up) Vegeta's case is the exact opposite, he was born somewhat psychopathic, but understood the concept of family and some shit about life since he(presumably) had a functioning family with some degree of education, but only learned true compassion through having an Earling family of his own. DB minus retconned the whole "all Saiyans are cold blooded warriors that only live for battle" thing, and if you don't want to consider that, consider Goku's childhood fall as deleting is Saiyan programming from birth and turning his brain into one of neutral morality or something.

*through having an Earthling family

Post Mentok the Mindtaker
>would you like an encore?

I've read the manga and I've been an anime/manga fan for over 20 years. Bow down, children. Dragonball is good, but you're grossly over exaggerating.

Name 1(ONE) manga with better paneling than DB

Vagabond.

>This post
>namefagging on Sup Forums

Lurk moar

Dragonball's paneling isn't even standout. What the fuck? 60+ years of manga and you think Toriyama of all people has the best paneling? Newfags get out.

I really doubt that he wasn't there for Gohan's birth since; 1. Gohan was his first child, 2. He was in family man mode between the end of the original series and start of Z, 3. Both Goku and Chi Chi live in the middle of nowhere, no way was Goku unaware when Gohan was born since he either had to help her give birth in their house or take her to the hospital in the city

Black Jack.

I don't get it, why are they trying to make him a literal retard?

...

...

im getting sick of this retarded shit

...

...

Whoa, since when did Roshi's island become so huge?

I thought Toyo made the manga?
Why are you blaming Toriyama for this?

this fucking guy

So you hate Goku now for being an asshole who doesn't care about anything but fighting, but hate Superman for upholding Justice and Peace.
Good to know you're a fence sitting possibly nihilistic asshole

he is a idiot

Because it's not Roshi Island.

...

an idiot for doing what?

he is right you know
why do you care
fucking brainwashed sheep

Sure you have

Goddamn Lunch is so pretty.

Why was Kid Goku so good and Adult Goku is so shit?

Very nice post.

Wasn't it supposed to be that he wasn't present for their births? What translation is the right one; the previous or the current one that is basically Goku not knowing their birthdays.

Don't read so fast

...

>I haven't read Dragon Ball in 10 years

>serves no real purpose other than to make Goku look like a selfish asshole.

Goku was always a selfish asshole, he put everybody on Earth into absurd unnecessary danger during the very first time travel storyline just because he was excited to get to fight a strong enemy.

Goku may like people, but he likes fighting way more.

i always liked the simple style of paneling dragon ball used. some manga artists go way overboard with panel layouts and panel breaks

What the fuck? What chapter is this from?

>So you hate Goku now
Why are you assuming I hate Goku, you motherfucker? Goku has never been a moralfag boyscout like superdull, and even this latest "flanderization" of his character is completely blown out of proportion by the anons on this thread. Goku doesn't remember his children's birthday? big deal, we jave known for a long time that he doesn't think of his family like an average person would, but thatdoesn't mean he doesn't care for them or love them in his own autistic way.

>Goku wasn't even there for Gohan or Goten's birth
>Chi Chi is practically a single mom at this point
>still loves and supports Goku

Is saiyan dick that good or something?

*have

This. If you don't think it's great it's because you haven't paid attention enough. Toriyama can be a fucking hack and the powerlevels don't make much sense and fuck this stupid RoSaT but in terms of panelling and fight choregraphy, Dragon Ball is incredible.

When a kid is a dumbass fuckup it's cute.
When an adult is a dumbass fuckup it's annoying.

People are mad because Goku not knowing when Gohan was born unintentionally implies that Chi Chi gave birth alone in the woods.

I don't understand their strategy. What do they gain from intentionally making Goku unlikeable?
