What's that one series you really want to dive further into but you can't help but feel it only gets more retarded the further you go and at some point you'll just hate it all and feel like you've wasted your time massively?
Pic related I loved UBW and plan on watching Zero at some point but everything else seems so horribly convoluted
Jace Martin
>seems You're right. It is.
Charles Gonzalez
>convoluted
It's not really, it's pretty straightforward.
Evan Hughes
My issue with Fate is that I know the basic gist of everything that happens in the VN. So my plan is to just try my hardest to forget everything about it. You guys are making it very hard, though.
Nicholas Perez
Read FSN, watch Zero, read FHA, then stop and move on to something else. The rest are all spinoffs of varying quality. This is my advice as someone who couldn't move on and is trapped in hell.
Jonathan Lewis
Don't listen to him. The VN has a two-hour scene of people eating breakfast which provides no useful information. It's a literal waste of time and you'll be mad at yourself after reading it. Watch fate/zero if you want a 7/10 show.
James Garcia
...
Hudson Phillips
Gundam. Shit started looking cool when I was an easy to impress kid, but the more I got into gundam, the more I felt like all of them were just derivations of the same theme with a different spin.
Daniel Sanchez
Like War in general.
Turn A is the best.
Jaxson Wright
Fuck you, Fate is a shitty franchise. There are hundreds of anime that are worth watching and even more games worth playing and books worth reading than f/sn. I don't know how anyone who isn't an edgy, reclusive teen could think otherwise.
Josiah Long
Pretty much this. But I still wonder if it was really worth going through 0079, Zeta and CCA for 08th MS and Turn A.
Josiah Allen
...
Thomas Rogers
Fate Zero and FSN are the only things you should bother with. Everything else is an artistically bankrupt cash-in of the highest caliber
Xavier Ortiz
Yeah, so obviously fate is more worth reading than the classics of european literature, anime made by Oshii, Anno, Ikuhara, Kon or Miyazaki and the best games out there. It's just such a magnificent work of art that we should all just gladly waste 70 hours on this shit.
Jack Young
...
Thomas Powell
You're right about FZ being a waste of time.
Liam Hughes
And you're helping yourself a lot by coming into fate threads.
James Foster
It was never bait. I was just trying to make someone save time and answering to your trolling attempts. I mean I'd gladly sacridice one year of my life to make no one consume any fate work ever.
Lincoln Jones
>feel it only gets more retarded >loved UBW
bit too late
Blake Sanders
>seems so horribly convoluted You're just dumb, that's alright. Go watch kemono friends or something instead
Aiden Sanchez
Zero is the only good thing in the franchise. Seeing as you liked the shitheap that is UBW I don't know if you'll appreciate it though.
Connor Phillips
>Zero is the only good thing in the franchise God, what happened to this board.
Angel Barnes
Congratulations, now go pat yourself on the back.
David Brown
Zeta is the best, but the series hasn't reached its full potential yet.
Aaron Jenkins
>worth going through 0079 0079 is a fucking masterpiece though. The movie trilogy especially is just breathtaking, especially Encounters In Space. If you think 08th MS Team is better than 0079 you have seriously screwed up taste.
Ryan Gomez
>God, what happened to this board. People started valuing competent writing. The original F/SN and all anime adaptations of it are frankly embarrassing.
Parker Jenkins
>zero >competent writing
Jaxon Jackson
>competent writing
Easton James
Better than Nasu
Jonathan Richardson
>competent writing
Thomas Johnson
It doesn't have the repetetive bullshit, jerky animation and poor chatacters of the main series. Sorry.
Elijah Gonzalez
Yep, it has clear plotting, fleshed-out characters who actually have real motivations and personalities, and a functioning narrative arc. F/SN has none of these things.
Colton Cooper
It was competent though. Maybe very good, but still leagues over anything Nasu ever wrote.
Jeremiah Perez
You're right, Fate legitimately became terrible in many ways with the years, even if it's still acceptable for some people.
I recomend reading the VN and Type-Moon's other original works, Tsukihime (VN) and Kara no Kyoukai (movies), instead of delving into the shitty milking train.
Levi Bennett
You serious? 08th MS Team's characters are nothing compared to 0079's. And on top of that they exist in one of the worst plots of any Gundam series.
Luke Diaz
>there are people who actually believe this garbage Ufotable was a mistake.
Logan Cruz
To be fair, 08th is easier to get into. Shitty romance aside, it was smaller in scale, "gritty" and had well animated action that looks good even today.
0079 movies are fantastic, but it is a really old school anime in both animation and how the mobile suits are at its most simple stage compared with latter UC and AU mobile suits, that and people who likes modern styled drawings might get turned off by its old style.
Cooper Cox
It's painfully obvious you have no concept of what good writing is. Try reading a real book for a change instead of just autism-fuel hentai visual novels.
Adrian Miller
Anyone who disagrees that Urobuchi is a competent writer knows nothing about writing. That faggot knows what he's doing.
That's exactly what makes it better. Also 0079 had tons of memorable scenes. 08th has only the one.
Justin Gray
Have you ever read the Zero LN? Just wondering.
Benjamin Diaz
No denying that it is objectively better, i'm just saying that 08th team is easier to sell to modern day anime viewers.
Jack Bennett
Okay, legit question. Why, in "normie" crowd, Kerry is considered to be a better protag than Shirou? They both are/were idealistic to similar degrees.
Isaiah Rivera
Kerry appears more realistic on a surface level, and he gets more cool points in the conventional sense.
Really, you're questioning why would normalfags prefer a mage-killing mercenary to a high school ginger?
Hudson Ward
Kiritsugu actually expressed his desires in rational terms rather than being some aloof autist who refused/was unable to explain his chuuni desire to be a "hero of justice".
Julian Jenkins
Normies love edgelords.
John Nguyen
>08th team is easier to sell to modern day anime viewers Disagree. The first episode of 08th sucks and the ending will make most people say "what the fuck is this shit?" and zone out. 0079 is much more engaging and gritty from the very first minute onwards. Yeah the art is old but you get used to it very fast. Thankfully the choreography and direction of the fights is absolutely godlike so they remain engaging even if the animation can be crude (although the movies fix the animation to an extent, especially the 3rd movie).
Brandon Murphy
He is cooler, just that.
Evan Foster
Normies like kiri for the wrong reasons because he's cool, he's cynical, he's an adult. Normies in general just love cynical characters who play by their own rules.
The beauty in kiri's character is his weakness however. He's like a child pretending to be andult. It further subverts his anti-hero character.
Asher Sanchez
But Kerry didn't really have rational terms outside of basic less casulties\vague greater good operations. His ultimate plan relied on changing the way humans, if not the world itself, operate using the means that were literally miraculos and which he ultimately just stumbled upon. Hell, if we extanded it to F/GO and possible timelines, without meeting Einzberns he ends as CG just like Shirou.
But then again Surface maturity and cool points win out I guess.
