Gun use techniques (firing stance et al) have improved more since the 1950's than the actual technological complexity of firearms.
The reason mass shootings occur, and continue to occur with increasing frequency, is because society and its people are increasingly segregating themselves, drawing lines to pigeonhole one-another and then vilify and demonize people with conflicting ideals. Generations upon generations of people keep picking fights and acting surprised when someone loses their temper. People minded their manners and treated one-another with courtesy and respect back then, so this shit happened less.

Dude back in the 50s my dad brought a shotgun and his hunting dog to sit next to him school. He would put the shotgun at the door when he walked in. Times have changed in South Carolina.

Gov't buildings like court houses have security and metal detectors. Apparently, the lawyers and judges are important enough to necessitate security, but not schools.
Teachers are there to teach, not have a shootout. Armed teachers is not the answer.
It's a matter of priority.
