What is the best city for a half gringo to live in? A city with high safety, low crime, low corruption.
I'd want to buy a second home out there, not necessarily in a retirement town, but I'm afraid the cartels will hurt me.

it is not safe to travel in mexico at night in any of the states. border towns probably unsafest of all. Puebla, sinaloa, michoacan the worst of the worst.
San Miguel de Allende was full of gringos but the narcos went there too. Guanajuato as a state is still pretty based and close to Mexico City. If you have money to spare I would recommend San Pedro in Nuevo León. Pretty close to Texas.

Well, my advice WOULD have been to live where the cruise ships come and go, but the last trip to Cozumel wasn't good for my parents. A lot of the more expensive shops have abandoned that area, and the cruise ship issued warnings to people to not go out into the city at night. Though, normally ships don't stay there overnight. Their cruise got all messed up because some guy tossed his wife from the balcony.

I have a home in Cali. I want a second home. Been to Canada and I'd rather not deal with the winters, way too many chinks too and houses are not as cheap as I think they should be.
Plus I was raised around mostly hispanics, so I'm comfy enough around them.
