In the case of CNN, to create the illusion of consensus.

>tell us your opinions so we can forget them and carry on as usual

It gives people who are pissed off and upset about something a platform to vent without actually changing any laws. Quit shitting your fucking stormfront Depends because there isn't a scheduled Negro-bashing hour.

She is thirsty for Rubio.

damn your town hall things bring the qts when we have question time here we get some proper filth in the audience

the "town hall" format is political gimmickry designed to create the illusion that people actually have any say in how they are ruled.

5 mins of hate

They're useful when you attempt to raise a population to respect debate. There were always emotional crowds who shouted shit, but in the past we understood that those people were not the best to make decisions. Places where the mob ruled were rightly seen as going the wrong way.

Now we've raised two generations of Activists. These are people who believe debate is illegitimate, and that mob rule is the only source of moral legitimacy. So when Trump or Loesh or Rubio try to have a reasoned debate, they are defending an illegitimate system in the eyes of the mob. When the mob screams "BURN HER" or calls its opponents murderers, or even when it gets violent, it's seen as a legitimate expression of political will. The moral center is with the outraged; logos and ethos are the tools of the oppressor, while pathos is the defense of the oppressed.

This is obviously shit. It's a sign of a country in decline. It's not just that these are kids and kids are stupid little shits; their teachers, parents, and politicians are teaching them that the riot is the voice of the angelic and oppressed, and a town hall is useful for screen time, not for educating or learning anything. They won't grow out of this phase; they'll get better at running a mob.

Views and ratings.

Agendas

Feelz.

Town Halls = a way for Libs to control the narrative, and televise it for other Libs to watch it, while all of the questions are being written and rewritten by Libs behind the scenes
