First of all, Sup Forums doesn't have any one ideology. These days Sup Forums is made up of individuals with many diverse ideologies. In the olden days, it had no ideology at all.
Instead, Sup Forums was about trolling and shitposting. Whatever was unpopular and would make people upset - that's what anons posted. To this day, there is still a huge shitposting subgroup within Sup Forums who will post literally anything to trigger sensitive types. Most of it doesn't even reflect their true values. The point is to be funny.
This foundation led to the cultivation of opinions that were opposed to mainstream culture. Sup Forums became the first true counterculture that has existed since maybe the 70's and 80's.
However, there were no real political motives at that point. Millennials eventually got overly serious about the shitposting and began to develop real world objectives. Initially it was anti-scientology and animal abuse stuff. However, they were successful in whatever efforts they undertook to a degree that not even they had imagined.
As an aside, you're probably thinking of Sup Forums values during the Bush administration, for example. At that point mainstream media and political powers were working to undermine the first amendment and spend vast amounts of money on foreign wars. Since the average person initially supported this, Sup Forums, as the ultimate critical thinkers and nay sayers, were the main people who openly derided some of these decisions. So they had, what at the time, was a leftist lean. They were not SJW's because SJW's as we know them did not exist.
