Can someone give me a quick rundown on the original conflict between Assad and the rebels? I understand all that has happened since and the global conflict with intl actors, but what the reason for the rebellion? Why did some people start up a revolution?
Alexander Foster
Yep.
Nathaniel Gray
ebil russia
Isaiah Russell
Won't happen. Even if Russia pusses out, the final resolution text will have some jumbled parameters that will be utterly unenforceable (e.g., something like militants in Ghouta agreeing to appear at some gay UN conference.)
It's a flip of the coin in my book as to whether Russia vetoes whatever the SC produces. Certainly, Russia should veto -nay, should have ardently opposed this charade from the start.

Does anyone how many SOF guys the U.S. still has embedded with SDF? I know the US obviously still has SF guys over there but I'm curious as to what JSOC is doing.

I'm noticing a huge surge in "save the people, bomb assad/putin" from pro war politicians/media/lobby groups in the west.
Is something coming? I heard the US gov. is going to ramp up its war on "ISIS" which means a huge influx of cash/weapons to ISIS and more bombing Syrian forces??

It's a reaction, Ghouta is the last urban area, bar Idlib, that is controlled by the headchopers. And Idlibistan can be forced to capitulate without storming the city itself. So this is the last good chance to use the white helmet production crews and report or 6 gorrilion hospitals getting blown up.
Tyler Ortiz
Concerns for the children only when the (((moderate rebels))) are being defeated.
Kevin Torres

>Can someone give me a quick rundown on the original conflict between Assad and the rebels?
Assad is part of minority groups - ethnically, religiously, politically. The majority groups don't like being ruled by minority groups. Additionally, there were revolutions in surrounding countries, and revolutions spread. Additionally, Assad promised freer market and more wealth, which didn't occur under his reign. Additionally, he promised to develop the inner country and not just the few core cities, which he didn't do.
Basically he made promises, didn't deliver, and since he is "the other" even in his country, he was attacked. Except when Arabs attack failed politicians, is with rifles, not Youtube videos.
Then the Iraqi came, converted half the rebellion, and the rest is history. I think if the Iraq-Syria border was solid and the two revolutions had't merged, Assad would've lost tbqh. It was only after the Iraqi rebellion entered Syria and started getting support that the situation became interesting internationally.

Won't it exclude Al Qaida and so they will continue bomb certain parts of Ghouta?

So, in theory, the following things are now supposed to happen, on orders of the UN Security Council: >The Syrian army must stop shelling Ghouta and allow UN aid and medical evacuations. >Rebels must stop shelling Damascus. >Turkey and its allies must stop attacking Afrin.
Sound's realistic, doesn't it

Nationalism itself is European, and you are being a globalist by insisting its the best way to organize and rule people and land outside of Europe and worldwide. Empire works fine for Russia, India, China, Iran. Nationalism would destroy them.

from washington post >The United Nations Security Council on Saturday unanimously called for a 30-day cease-fire in Syria
The nationwide truce would begin “without delay,” a victory for the United States and other nations that resisted Russian efforts to push back the start or soften the terms.

So they are fucking over turkey too kek, this is way too funny. Wonder if the resolution mention HTS though
Mason Rodriguez
What the hell are you even talking about dude Assad made GDP increase by like 40% for all syrians. He did develop more free market opportunities in Syria.
This isn't soviet-era Russia where you could just make everyone go from agriculture to Industrial markets and expect everything to be peachy.
The decade or so that Assad has been in power is not enough to fix all the economic instability in this country, he was on the right path until he was catching the eyes of people who want to include Syria in a debt based economic system.
Heck Syria was doing so much better than everybody else around them and Assad practically wiped out the public debt.
Zionist got mad and called in there us and wahabi hit squads and CNN/Fox.
The rest is history.

It looks like Russia was left alone against everybody which is why they caved
The Chink ambassador just thanked Kuwait and Sweden for the resolution draft (that Russia rejected) and repeated some platitudes about "opposing civilian suffering".
Earlier Turkey called for "ending the slaughter in Eastern Ghouta".
I honestly feel bad about the Russians, they are the only good guys on the Security Council
