Not a single isekai show next season

>not a single isekai show next season
Is it finally over?
Has Japan finally woken up?

SAO III is coming. This is merely a quiet before the storm.

>SAO Movie DVD in a few days from release
>finally over
>Japan realising that they have the shittiest taste

You are the one to must wake up

Is Umaru not an isekai?

''tis the calm before the storm my friend.

Shield Hero and Death March are already over the horizon.

If Japan eats those up we'll know then that everything truly has gone to shit.

SAO isn't an isekai.

Just wait until they decide to animate the alicization arc. The first actual isekai in SAO.

>Has Japan finally woken up?
No, they're just sick of these real life NEET authors self inserting themselves into them where they're surrounded by girls all day.
It's getting really old and annoying. There's no dedicated story, it's just the original author's self insert getting what he can't get in real life.

No. Isekai LNs are still selling well, and many of them don't even have an anime yet. Expect to start seeing 2 or 3 every season for the next few years.

>it's a "one of your favorite mangaka gets assigned into adapting a trash isekai after his original manga got axed" arc
End my suffering senpai.

>NEET authors
That's an oxymoron if I ever saw one.

Why is Konosuba still the only good isekai Japan has made?

Being a writer, especially a WN/LN writer isn't a real job.

Because the author understood how to make a fun and relateable MC with heroines that have depth and actual human emotion instead of just cock hungry memes with faces and different colored hair.

Konosuba has been shit for a while now though.

Dies Irae takes so much suspension of disbielive that they couldn't fit Isekai anime

Didn't the author of Welcome to the NHK spent years as a hikki?

Kazuma has an actual personality, is acknowledged to have been a pathetic NEET who died in a pitiful, loser manner for no reason, and acts primarily in his own self interest.
The girls are just as dysfunctional as he is, Kazuma is the only isekai protagonist I'd say actually deserves the harem he got, and I don't mean that in a positive way.
Fantasy australia as a setting is entertaining without the autistic overabundance of exposition that every other isekai feels the need to vomit out how THEIR not-D&D setting is totally different than the hundred other iterations, and instead mostly serves as a backdrop for character comedy.

It's fun, which a lot of garbage isn't.

t. Salty Lalatinafag

No but the quality is

THERE WAS A SECOND SEASON OF SAO? And I'm not talking about the second cour, an actual S2?

He joined a cult

You can be a NEET or an author but not at the same time. The moment you start selling a book about being a NEET is the moment you stop being one.

Also hikki aren't necessarily NEETs, they just tend to be because being a shut in is poisonous to your employment prospects.

I like how the author's approach to worldbuilding is to take a shallow poorly thought out fantasy setting and instead of correcting the mistakes just takes them to their logical horrible conclusions instead.

It might as well be. Underworld is pretty much isekai lite.

Go back to gaia

Americans like isekai probably more than Japan does. People with small powerlevels (and intelligence) love shit like SAO.

He did and he's still one also, I read the LN and the afterword was saying he got better for a while but fell back into being a truNEET

It's literally Kawahara's take on isekai right as it started getting hot on Narou. He just shoehorned it in to fit the setting.

why do japs have such shit taste in anime?

stop posting

you forgot arifureta

You can stop forcing this meme now that even the fujoshit-hijacked ranking ended up being superior to MAL, ANN etc.

I'm actually looking forward to these. Isekai is fun.

Isekai Smartphone killed the genre.

You're not that cool

I hope loli vampire gets lots of porn.

You have shit taste and you are retarded. Hiw can you say such dumbshit when The Twelve Kingdoms exists or the dozen other Isekai that happened in th 90's and 00's.

if they make money off of it, then it's a job.

yada yada yada yada- shut up

hoping there's no shitposting.

>NEET authors
That's not how it fucking works moron.
NEET=/=Hikkikomori

what are you guys reading lately? any you hope get a translation soon?

>Kazuma is the only isekai protagonist I'd say actually deserves the harem he got

Villainess Tensei LNs and WNs. I can't get enough of Reika-sama, Iris, Camille and Bakarina.

>Reika-sama, Iris, Camille and Bakarina

Because you are an insufferable ironic weeaboo

>Kazuma starts out as an interesting character with amusing personality and a ton of flaws that make him unpopular
>eventually turns into an extremly capable adventurer despite his uselessness that every girl in the series wants to fuck

Every parody that drags on for too long eventually falls into the same traps it originally tried to make fun of

>Re:Zero
>not good

Wut?

I really hate you guys, there is nothing wrong with Isekai.
Good writing is good writing, bad writing is bad writing no matter the theme.
Look at Re:Zero arguable the best anime since NGE

I don't know how anyone can hate that show it's like the most innocent sao rip

this must be bait

>Re:Meme
>good

tell me you're joking

>hoping there's no shitposting.
Don't be delusional.

Reminder that almost everytime people show up to shitpost about re:zero they're usually proven wrong

Kazuma is just another degenerate NEET who got Isekaid and now half a dozen girls want to ride his dick for no reason because in this other world he is totally rich and cool. Only difference with most Isekai out there is that he is an asshole, which is not much of a change.

than why is it so god damn entertaining!!!!!??

muh scapism

No one deserves the harem
All isekai MC's are pieces of shit made just for the self-insert faggots

NOW SICNE THIS IS A KONOSUBA THREAD

i have a question for everyone that have read volume 11 chapter 4 tranquility princess:
It was not necessary to kill the tranquilty princess. she didn´t actively try to seduce her victims, like the tranquility girls. All she did was to give the ones that wanted to die a peacefull death. She was basically just a suicid pill with the extra of an peacefull ending. The only reason to kill her was that she gave a bad picture of the town of Axel not being able to kill her. that´s it. apart from that, only benefits from her.

My main problem with Isekai is that it's always High Fantasy Middle Ages Western Europe

Literally a lot of more settings of other periods and regions and cultures yet the Authors just take the easy way out by using the default popular one

Sure it's better than Hollywood and pulls off the middle Ages Europe setting better but more diversity would help

bullshit. it is really funny. while reading the LN i bursted out in luaghter several times.

She represented something that the author, and by extension Kazuma, hated. Those girls that look nice and acts all sweet and harmless, but deep down just want to take your money and soul. Every time she uses up one man, she moves onto the next without a second thought about the life she just ruined and all of the money she leached.

Kill all tranquility girls and any derivatives on sight. Just do it.

>My main problem with Isekai is that it's always High Fantasy Middle Ages Western Europe
But it's literally not.

Well since we're here and the anime is in the works, what do you think of the story in the shieldbro LNs/Manga so far?
what are some changes done in the story that you like or dislike?
what do you think of this fishing lady?

I hope not, i'm sure january is going to blow their load with Isekai's.

wel that is some next level self insertion

Technically not but it sure as hell is related to the whole isekai "boom".

Overlord, Log Horizon, Tanya, NGNL and hataraku maou-sama are all pretty good or even great. (Maou-sama is reverse isekai so I'll count it here)

Explain to me why we have all read so much Isekai Sup Forums, why is this stuff so addicting? And please don't just answer with a "it's fun" or "escapism".

> the dozen other Isekai that happened in th 90's and 00's.

Were those really "isekai" though? Modern Isekai anime/LNs is pretty different in tone, pacing, and feel than past stories that used "sent to another world" as a plot device.

Any stand out examples of this?

....

Why do we even eat apples?
>Don't just say they're tasty or nutrition

Nirvana is just like something from early 00's.

> "escapism"
that is the reason though

plus on occasion a work does something nice with it, like
konosuba - funny comedy
overlord - actually pulls off "evil" and strong MC well, it really is fucking refreshing when the guy isn't particularly altruistic
log horizon - the creator actually understand something about gaming and it shows
NGNL - the games are a fun gimmick
and whatever

so I always keep hoping for the new ones to be good.

yeah I wouldn't count anything from the 90s at least, makes no sense, might as well start calling alice in wonderland isekai
maybe shit like ZnT, that is already kinda modern and a LN and has surely affected the new wave

It's pretty clear the user is asking for an answer that's longer than six words.

h-hey guys, remember me?

It's pure escapism though. Re:Zero was trash, but I watched the whole fucking thing. Because deep down I desperately want to live in that medieval world of magic with lame ass flute music playing in the background. I think it's cool. There's no life and death stakes in the real world, no such thing as honor, no fair maiden's heart to win.

Can you imagine being a Jap? They work and study insane hours compared to the west. If we want escapism, can you just imagine what they want? Other than to kill themselves I mean.

I think Re: Zero used some lazy excuses to move the plot; some things looked really forced to happen... worst of all was how the MC couldn't tell anyone about his situation because a literal invisible force kills him if he tries for no apparent reason.

kills him or people.

because you are easily entertained. Why do you think shitty sitcoms are so popular?

I hate sitcoms, but I find Konosuba is sooo funny

>be nip salaryman
>life ends after highschool
>vicariously live as a little girl in b-list children's cartoons
sounds about right

Konosuba is a sitcom

Konosuba is seriously one of the best anime comedies to come out in the past couple years though.

>Konosuba
>good
Nice joke.

>Konosuba is a sitcom

Nah. Sitcom isn't a genre anime does often.

Working!! is a sitcom. Konosuba is, in terms of genre, a comedic adventure story.

>same few gags over and over again
>no progress at all towards defeating the demon king
s2 was pretty flat

But I don't read Isekai for the escapism!
I read and watch it because I legitimately enjoy the world building that happens around the start of every Isekai, the exploration esque is one of the best parts of this genre that is almost never properly explored in other adventure genre's, It's basicallly fantasy but with a good excuse so that we can skip right through to getting to know the world, as the MC himself isn't already aware of how everything works and we just have to take everything for granted.

The MC understanding, discovering and interacting with the unknow world is something that other works rarely make it work properly, with usually only doing it a bit and then skipping right through to the plot after they think it's enough. They always create all these amazing systems for magic or cities and never really elaborate on them, which is something that Isekai tends to do a lot, aswell as actually making use of that information as you can read the MC deduce stuff in his monologue.

Rather, this is one of the reasons why I always hate when Isekai's try to push down "plot" on your throat, they lose their only good aspect when they give up the exploration esque.

They defeated another of the demon king's commander

Why is everyone got isekai after death? After death there is nothing, religion is for making money and slaves.

>same few gags over and over again

This isn't accurate though. Yes like any comedy it has its running gags, but there was plenty of new material

The entire Axis Cult was amazing.

>no progress at all towards defeating the demon king

That literally does not matter. "Plot progression" isn't *that* important to a comedy. The plot gives the set up, motivations for the characters, and vehicles for the jokes.

This is the state of Sup Forums in 2017

Its a sitcom in terms of structure. The world is mainly a backdrop for the characters to do their usual comedy shtick in different situations and locations.

let me guess, you have read so much manga and watched so much anime, that basically every story is the same for you. is their even anything entertaining left for you?
examples?

Would you guys read a story about a heroic, youthful swordsman from a fantasy world waking up one day in modern day Earth, and being taught how to function as a normal person by a cute but bitchy businesswoman who takes him in as a grunt worker in her corporation after he saves her life?

Sitcoms have fixed backdrops though.

Cheers has the bar. MASH had their hospital tents, Working!! had the restaurant. Dozens of "family sitcoms" had the main characters home and neighborhood.

I don't have a proofs for saying that too.

go back to crunchyroll please.

Sup

>gender roles are reversed.
it's shit
