If you believe there is a hierarchy, then there must be a peak of that hierarchy. The statue is meant to capture that ideal as close as possible. (American) Conservatives don't really care much about statues either though.

That's not to say that one can't be leftwing and admire statues, but one would have to be an anti-egalitarian leftist to do something like that, and those individuals are rare (though I am one myself).

It's not only statues, classic art in general, paintings, music, and yes statues. Sup Forums is not an individual so the reasons will vary from Sup Forumsack to Sup Forumsack, my personal reason for liking statues is because of the ability required to make them is impressive, unlike paintings or music that seem to come natural to most people, statues require an extra bit of ability because as Michaelangelo said, "Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it" if that is the process to create a statue then it is impressive to me.

Are there still people around that are capable of making statues of this quality anymore? If there is, it seems like they don't get ANY exposure or recognition, all the statues I see get put up around England are all just "modern art" garbage of a few bits of twisty metal stuck together. Same for how architecture has just gone down the shitty completely too, even big expensive buildings are no longer designed to uplift the spirit of the people anymore but to "make a statement" about the "establishment" that they have unknowingly became themselves long ago.

It's just kind of depressing that Western society is willing to let go of its culture like this in favour of ephemeral instantly-dating piles of garbage everywhere.
