Ballroom e Youkoso monthly

Oh boy oh boy! It's that time of the month again.

I know I skipped a few months, going directly to scans instead, but with the anime in full force, it's back to basics.

Last month, the author had a bit of a scuffle with the famous mangaitus, but she's fine now. The first few pages will be from the previous release as those were part of this chapter anyhow, but after that it's time for some new stuff.

>Heat 44: Contained

>Tatara, together with Chinatsu, have reached Kugimiya's vision with their dancing trance, the two pairs...
>Collide!!

>What is it?

>As Tatara climbs closer and closer, Kugimiya's recalls his back wound, and the events leading to it...
>What is this event that changed Kugimiya's life!?

>Ah

>Good evening

...

...

...

...

170
>First year

>Pre-junior Standard, first round

>Masami-kun, keep it together!! (Escort your lady!)
>You're a man, right!?

>There's so many people...

>Watching

>Hey, we need to go now
>pester pester

YES.
I've been waiting for this.

>Smile

>Mmmm...
>shake shake

>I need become capable

>I'll make the scary things invisible

>Kugimiya-kun's learning is really fast, isn't it? (Even his tournament results are fantastic)
>He'll reach my level so fast...
>Hahaa~ Isn't that right!
>Masami is very special

>Congratulations for your victory Masami-kun!

>This is the best first year result ever for a dancer!

>First again!? No way... He's winning against people who've danced their whole life!

>It would be great if Masami-kun's family came to see
>Hogwash! As long as us two are here, it's fine! (He's already like my own child)

>Right, Masami?

>Sensei will do his best too, so let's become better, together!
>Yes!

>Third year

>I am Chouno from Dance Focus!
>I'm to collect material for a junior's special report

>Wait, why is Kugimiya-kun teaching children?
>Stretch your back!
>You see... He's better at teaching children than we are...
>What's with that!?

>His learning speed is too fast
>We don't know what to teach him anymore... So...(we're doing a sort of "community dancing")
>Aah! I see! Kugimiya-kun is planning to stay here as a teacher then!?

>I'm quitting this... (I'm still just a student...)

>Smile
>When you become professional, I'll come for another interview

>I look forward to your next tournament!
>Thank you very much!

Where did the innocence go? He was so adorable as a kid.

>Fourth year

>Who's that huge blondy? Foreigner?
>His partner is Chizuru-chan (Such a beautiful dress)
>Sengoku Kaname

>16 years old!? (Are you sure!?)

>Whoa...
>Amazing person has come to Japan..!

>I hate that kind of dancing
>doki

>Truly. It is so sporty, I don't think it qualifies as "dancing" anymore
>I imagine he's hated by the judges already (that sort of type)
>!?
>He has no aura

>No way... These people can't see how amazing he is (Yet they act like they do)
>The junior Kugimiya is much better. I can respect him
>Eh, me!?

>Kugimiya? (hmmm...) He dances a very old style, yeah

>No... I don't care what these people say. They just want to show off what little knowledge they have
>His coach is hopeless though

>The Kuni-something-sensei is the type who pushes his own style on people I hear

>Stop your lies, you simpletons

>Hello, Kugimiya-kun
>You're in perfect form today again!
>Whoa! Hyoudou Marisa!
>Kugimiya-kun was here?

>I love your dancing very much Nod
>Aha
>Thanks

>Seventh year

>I wonder if dancers at Marisa-sensei's level completely block out surrounding noise

>Hyoudou Kiyoharu?

>Could he be Hyoudou Hideo's and Marisa's son?
>Whoa... A mixed face...
>I guess he's winning cause of connections today (Their whole judging crew is here)
>That's scary...

>Hey, this guy's the real deal?
>Do you have eyes in your head?
>If you don't, why are you watching dance?

>These kids want Masami-kun to teach them
>Masami-chan, let's play

>Masami, you're looking for a new partner, right? Then how about this lady?
>Your heights are well balanced
>Eh...

>Um... Not to be rude, but how long have you danced...
>... Since I was young... 5 years total? I think..?
>whisper whisper
>O-ooh.. Then, what about tournaments..?

>Ah, I don't really care for winning

>You at least are my ally, right?
>Shaaa!

>I need to do something about Masami before it's too late

>Because he spends so much time dancing his studies are hopeless
>Why can't Masami reach the top of his class?

>Tenth year

>Let's quit

>If I stay here any longer, I'll go crazy
>Kunieda-sensei and others... I'm...

>Hello
>We're in your care today as well, Kugimiya-sensei!

>Wednesday night (dawn) Training camp for the top dancers
[night (dawn) makes no sense but that's how it is. Will try to decipher any hidden meanings for the full release]

>Sengoku-kun! Is it true you're retiring the amateur scene?
>Yeah! It's true! Rejoice, losers!
>(geeh~) I can' imagine you teaching in any studio (You're just 21, aren't you?)

>Huh? I got a sponsor from Shanghai the other day
>He said "If you enter the pro scene, I'll sponsor you"
>Patron!?

>World is of money, huh
>Sengoku-kun, you really are no good
>Hmm...

>I wonder who becomes Japan number one next year
>Good bye, "Mr. Rank Two"! My good rival on the fiery fronts...
>Can you please stop with that... You're the only one calling us rivals (I'll get mad)

>But he's right. Besides you, Iwakuma-san, there's nobody near him
>How scary, Hokamada-kun
>Hmm... There was this Masami-chan who was second in Sendai that might take you out

>flinch
>Gorilla is getting mad here

>Hahaha...
>My prediction... This year's finalists are

>Mikasa-cup Finals: Quickstep

...

Goddamn he was cute.

>I don't know what my own eyes are seeing

>Bgleeh

>clap clap
>This is Sengoku's send off, huh
>Even the fifth, Hakamada, is only 15 years old
>After changing coaches, his results have improved considerably
>Whoa...
>No way
>Bleeh...

>Kugimiya? He seemed a bit off
>Shut up...
>Well, the year after next, I imagine Hyoudou and Akagi-pairs will be the winners

>Juvenile's standard and latin champions had the same face? I heard they were twins

>Why...
>What am I doing in a place like this...

>Is it because that one year was too happy?

>Masami-chan? Are you not competing?
>No secrets! Did you win~?
>shake shake
>Don't look at me with your pure eyes

>It's almost Masami's birthday!
>What do you want for present?
>To you not know about anything...

>I am being killed by my self-consciousness

>meoow~

I love the art style of this manga so much, it's always neat to see artists use more traditional styles like that charcoal texture

>I wonder if nobody will kill me

>"But I don't have the courage to kill my self so I'm waiting for somebody to kill me"
>Such pitiful thoughts

>If I were to quit dancing

>I will get told off by so many people...

>No, that isn't right
>How would I explain to Kunieda-san...

>Ah

>God exists

>Words such as "I don't have courage"
>Are a lie

>I just wanted an excuse

>beep
>beep

>beep

>You are very lucky! Yes, yes! You might be able to compete again even! (Japan's something dancer, right?)
>No way, I'm alive
>Let's do our best in rehabilitation!! (Have trust in the doctor)

>Aah... He's happy enough to cry...
>You demons!
>shuu [machine breathing]

>Evening. Mother?
>step step

>Multiple fractures of the spine, left leg, and right arm
>The surgery was a complete success. Returning to normal life was all a matter of rehabilitation

Jesus christ man

>Hey, did you hear...
>This is about me so...

>It might be over... Right...
>Haha...
>It is a bit cruel, isn't it...

>It is such a shame... Dancing is...

>It's not because of the injury, is it?

Ouch

>I am very sorry for saying that

>I don't know from when I am supposed to apologize

>From when I said "I'll raise you to be a true dancer"?
>When I wasn't a true dancer myself

>shake shake
>After all, I'm just a Japanese, who idolizes the west...

>But I couldn't let you go...

>Kh..!
>That..

>Please don't...

>Edachu-san...
>Please don't say that

Damn, this is pretty sad.

>Ah, Kunieda-san is here as well

>Then, you've heard already?
>What will you do?

>What..?

>Hey...
>When am I able to go out?

>Let's see... Soon you'll start rehabilitation so if you do your best there...

>When will I be able to start it then!?

>How long will I-
>flinch
>Hey hey, what's up, Masami-chan?

Fuck, the ride is not ending

>cicada
>cicada

>I wish I never danced

>I feel a classical refinement from your dance

>Haha...
>But that style isn't what the sports-orientated judges think as a "winner's dance"

>It's not like I danced just to win...
>That's not what I meant. You might really not know how much people around you respect your dance.
>Ahaha...
>I'm telling that is exactly what disgusts me

>Aah...
>I'm sorry

>Hey, hear this
>When I hear that sort of... Noise... It makes me want to puke...
>That sort of irresponsible nonsense about better and worse, winning and losing...

>Aah... In the end...
>Hehe
>Kugimiya-kun
>What was I fighting against...

>... (fuuh...)

>The dance I and Kunieda-san were clinging to may have been dead already

>It is hell...

>I need to go back there

>Ariaaah!!
>Slowly, slowly!

>Kugimiya-san has an amazing look...
>I have no clue what he's thinking

>shh..
>Don't say stuff like that

We all were user, we all were...

>Are you sure you want to wait?

>It's fine
>It's much more bothersome to try making new bonds with strangers

>Is it hell to not win in tournaments?
>! (aah...)

>No... It's being looked at...
>I heard about that before (You really aren't suited for dance)
>I am sorry...

>Is it true?
>flinch

>When I think "How long is this going to continue" my eyes go black
>The world of results is so cruel

>Hmm...
>So you're saying it's as if you were contained

>I am envious of the people who've fought at the top for years

>You really don't get it, Kugimiya-kun

>You say it's the "world of results" but

>Even to those talented people who you envy

>tap
>It is their own, personal hell

>Nine years

>And then resting one, and then one more year

>My body is stiff...

>Eleventh year

...

>I really feel awful when I'm here
>ha...

>Kugimiya-san
>You're sure you don't want to see the results for the semis!? (Shall we go?)

>This airhead is so fucking annoying
>The results worry me...
>bounce bounce

>That face is like daggers to my heart
>Hey...

>Is dancing fun?

>If it becomes tough, it's okay to stop

>Dance makes your life crazy

>Huuh?
>Ehehe?
>Aha!

>Haha...
>C'mon, Kugimiya-san...
>Hahaha
>AHAHA

>I really did come back
>To this hell

>Honestly
>This is the worst scenery

>Judge's lounge
>Kugimiya-pair was wonderful!

>They were a beautiful pair before but resting one year has made them improve another level
>chatter chatter
>What sort of teaching does Marisa-sensei do...?
>I don't really understand this tablet works
>Umm... let's see
>*After semis, the judging will be done on tablet screens

>I think the Kugimiya-pair's dressing sense is great as well
>Today's striped dress really matches their image with the white and black. A grey sort of mood

>I am all for 13, Tatara-pair
>Their tango in particular was great!

>Huh..?
>They were good, right!?

>S-sure... During foxtrot and quick my eyes were drawn to them
>What's with that response?
>Ah, I didn't especially notice them before tango!
>That's right! After tango, those two...

Why are Japanese trunks so powerful? Provided they don't outright kill the person, they can even turn a cute kid into a twisted man.

>Waltz is dangerous

>Number of checks 27/35
>Result, 4th
>Aaah...
>I dropped at 26th
>Barely 6th
>Did you see the scores? From second to fifth, the people are clumped up

>Mm... It's too bad, darling (we're not in the finals)
>While on the other hand, Kugimiya-san...
>35/35, the lone full check

>What sort of dancing did I do in the semis..?
>What about that waltz I failed?
>How did I recover after that..?
>I felt like I grasped something, yet-

>bzzz bzzz

>Heey, Tatara. Feeling good?

>Sen...

>Sengoku-san
>It's Sengoku-san
>Hm? Hey, Tatara?
>Hello?
>Sengoku-san!!!

>T-
>Thank you very much for your call! This is Fujita Tatara!!
>shining

>Pff-
>Is this a pizzeria!?
>Ahahaha
>It's been so long, Sengoku-san! Sengoku-saan
>Right now, I'm... Umm...
>boing boing

NTR NTR NTR

Really? I thought Tatara and Chinatsu were doing great. What went wrong?

Sound like he's fighting against himself.

>You've gotten good at doing your hair
>attention...

>Did you... Come here...?

>Where are you!?

>From the entrance, which side are you on!?

>I'm waving my hand right now!

>Where are you, Sengoku-san!?

>Sengoku-san!

>Hey, Tatara

Truck-kun!

>I can see you

>.... yes

>Yes

>Shortly, we will begin the Metropolitan tournament A-rank advancement finals
>Kunieda's thoughts... Sengoku's thoughts... Their conclusion is on the floor!!

And that's it for this month. Quite the ride, huh?

Thanks as always Dancefag. I complete forgot about the new chapter. I guess having the anime makes the time between chapters feel a bit shorter. Looks like this arc is coming to a close soon. I genuinely curious as to where the story will go after this.

Thank you

Bless you dancefag. Didn't they give spoilers for the anime like new OP/ED?

There's a page advertising all sorts of merchandise.

And a recap of the anime. But even this only goes up to episode 7.

No new info, unfortunately.

Thanks for the live translation. Tatara better get his shit together.

Based Dancefag, thanks.

Weird chapter, mostly the last part. Felt all over the place.
Kugimiya's childhood recap went from kawaii to volume-13-Inio-Asano, wew lads.
Now we (or at least I) need a HEALING chapter and everything will be daijoubu.
I kek'd at the stereotypical Asian "y u no doctor yet" Dad and the cats fucking though.

Volume 8's cover is still my favorite.

The mangaka posted the sample in her twitter. By the way Dancefag, are you planning on buying the Fanbook and translate the interesting parts if you have time?

When is Tatara going to reach his final form?

If I get my hands on one, I will translate it. I'm not sure about how well distributed the fanbook is. But I'll probably need actual scans done by somebody else or there's not going to be any point to them.

>>Ah
>>God exists
That's a hell of a reaction.

I think that's gorilla-kun at the helm actually

So what's the general consensus on the anime?

god dammit

I just want them to hug ;_;

I'm loving it. Wish they had enough time or money to do a bit more animation instead of the frequent fast pans over stills, but overall, I've ben having a blast. And soon the color palette will switch from yellow to a spunky fiery red!

Who would win in a fight? Japanese truck or japanese cold?

the rivalry led to his inner conflict way before his accident

after all that depressing shit, this sure is heartwarming. thanks for the translation!

Cute!

I love you dancefag.

Hnnnng.

Jesus christ he still doesnt what he's doing? This shit is dragging, where the fuck is Chichan? Another fucking month.

Man. Kugimiya had a helluva life.

Those panels are some top tier reaction images. they would even work as banners.

It's good until the actual dancing begins. Also, fuck Tatara and Gaju's VA.

Thanks

Good chapter, thanks Dancefag.

Give them a break, they are still at amateur level. I hope they can at least get a 2nd place.

His partner is caring, I like that. She waits for him.

They were given an ultimatum they need to place 1st in otdrt for the plot to move forward.

It's impossible. And the story is getting interesting now, it's hard to say what will happen next.

They still need more training and practice to become better. Even if they manage to get in the Grand Prix, I doubt they can beat Hyoudou and Gaju at their level.

Thank you based Dancefag. This manga delivers as always.

>I really feel awful when I'm here
Yeah, that definitely needs to be submitted when typeset. Except I'm not even sure when the last time we got new banners was.

>Was excited but then realize it was fodder's flashback
Oh well

>still 4th after that mess earlier
>bad
OK

I'm actually hoping, unlikely though it is, that they fail and that Marisa follows through in refusing to let them go to the Grand Prix. These special-scenario things (gotta substitute for Hyoudou; gotta beat Gaju so he takes Mako back; gotta go to this Grand Prix so I can compete against the others before they go abroad; they weren't there so now I gotta win this other tournament so I can go to the next Grand Prix) aren't really to my taste, I want to see him fail at one and learn to move past those external motivators and just try to win shit for its own sake.
