Msote is more like zombies+mahou shoujo while mss is pmmm but with more gore and less hope. Not really solid references to eachother, maybe minor hints but they take on different POVs too, mss being based off of discount Madoka, msote being based around a guy trying to survive.

My theory is msote is where magical girls who're killed in mss go if they sinned and begin a rampage as demons or shit.

There's not really a good place to end the anime, but I guess that place is better than most because of the pure catharsis it gives.

And I highly doubt it'll manage to get a second season, especially if they decide to censor the shit out of it.
