Neo yokio

Wow, this looks like the biggest piece of shit I've ever seen.
And they're trying to sell it as anime, so I guess the time has finally come for the west to ruin anime

...

I wish it was too user, but they really are trying to market is as if it was anime.

They certainly aren't trying to market it as if it were anime in Japan.

Not a single article about it on the major Japanese anime news sites. No threads about it on 2ch. About 10 tweets in Japanese about it mostly by foreigners. Japanese people don't know and don't care that this exists and are not even part of the target audience.

Well considering it looks like trash, I don't think they could market it there. I wonder who thought even making this was a good idea, it's just jaden smith wank material

>not marketed to Japanese audience despite being made by Japanese studio
Can we put this to bed and all agree its not anime?

or

But Sup Forums and Sup Forums don't want it either

That settles it then
Just don't talk about it anywhere and pretend it doesn't exist.

This is the only correct solution, don't encourage this sort of thing.

daily reminder:

definition of ANIME: = "japanese-style animated product"
*NOT* "animated product made in Japan"
and *NOT* "animated product made by japanese people"

I repeat:

*NOT* "animated product made in Japan"
and *NOT* "animated product made by japanese people"

>hurr durr did you know dhad in jabaneze "anime" juzd meanz "animadion"?? ghegkmade kiddo!1!11!1!
We're in an english-speaking forum. What it means in japanese doesn't mean the slightest fuck of nothing. Period.

I'm hyped!

If it's created in conjunction with anime studios, it's anime.

I'm having a fantastic time watching purists get bothered by this, I think it's going to be low-key enjoyable.

Stop posting, Jaden

Are you kidding me
>she was possessed
>that sucks
That line was delivered with the humour of a rock. The whole trailer looked like a bunch of references to shit with no rhyme or reason.

I don't care about MUH ANIMU PURITY, I just think it looks like straight garbage. Horrible lazy voice acting and fan anime tier animation

>definition of ANIME: = "japanese-style animated product"
So Panty and Stocking is no anime? Who even made this rule in the first place?
>We're in an english-speaking forum. What it means in japanese doesn't mean the slightest fuck of nothing.
We are on the anime board of a japanese based website owned by a jap.

>If it's created in conjunction with anime studios, it's anime.
No, that's what we call a mongrel. It's made by americans for americans with some Korean and Japanese names thrown in. It's a cartoon

Agreed, what's even worse is that it's being praised as havin "voice acting much better than the average anime" just because hollywood stars are on the project. Let's just ignore that the mc is presumably voiced by jaden smith, aka the most expresionless human being on the planet.

I'd say the easiest way to roughly tell is by what language it's in. If it's in English then it's a cartoon intended for consumption by audiences in the west, if it's nip then it's anime and intended for the east. I suspect this will be english so it belongs on

Just to be clear.

In Japanese "anime" means a cartoon. That's all it means.

In English, there is no official definition of "anime". Its just a word that people started using to refer to Japanese cartoons.

Nonetheless, it does seem silly to define "anime" as a "cartoon that mimics the style of Japanese cartoons". Because it blurs the definition and makes the word way less useful.

>So Panty and Stocking is no anime?
Correct! It's a japanese cartoon.

>Who even made this rule in the first place?
The rules of language, that exist since the beginning of mankind.

>We are on the anime board of a japanese based website owned by a jap.
And that matters because...?

>the rules of language, that exist since the beginning of time
Holy fuck you’re retarded. I think this show is right up your alley.

>In Japanese "anime" means a cartoon. That's all it means.
And in Japanese "hentai" just means "strange" with no sexual implications whatsoever, if that's the matter. So I guess we're not allowed to call porn doujins "hentai" anymore?
